A great perspective from Peter Himmelman. More relevant each day. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing your truth. Your music is a gift that is a "permeant thing" to me & to those who choose to hear it. Whenever I'm drifting out of focus your music/wisdom has helped to bring me back some clarity for 35+ years. L'Chaim my mensch!!!

My best friend is a salamander. 1997. Pete :') That cassette shaped the foundation of my musical understanding from then on. I just recently revisited all of those tracks for the first time in fifteen years, all of the lyrics and character banter came right back to me. Peter made an impression on me then, and seeing this and feeling a deeper connection to his music has become a rare and unexpected delight...

Peter, you are one of the most amazing musicians I have ever encountered. You have been part of the soundtrack of my life for almost 30 years. Thank you for sharing this. Your heart is incredible. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. I cannot explain how much your art has helped me, but I am deeply grateful for your unflinching honesty.

Seen him with his band at liberty lunch in Austin and they were really good, but I also saw Peter at the Cactus Cafe in Austin for a solo gig. A rare and most powerful performance. The show was written about in the local paper, " I have seen artists in Austin perform on a high wire before, but never without a net or balance pole while blindfolded! " He truly seemed to transcend his performance to a rare experience for the audience, That show was almost 30 yrs ago and it's still a powerful memory.

Steven - Your comment made my day. I was at that cactus show too but I could not remember when it was. I remember the power too -- but do you recall the year ? Then he just stopped coming to Austin. This talk says that this stopping was in 1993. All of this is jumbling in my mind now. A friend mentioned Peter Himmelman today -- out of the blue...ha ha...a small AWAKE circle-back thus happened for me personally. I had not thought of him in years. Found this Tedx while trying to see what recordings he had on KZbin to bring back my memories...and then find you mentioning the very thing I was seeking to recall. I have great nostalgia...but also happy to hear this talk and to know that he is going strong and continuing to "teach" in this different way. Important to keep the stone rollin'. :~) ++cj

Peter’s band in the 1980’s Sussman Lawrence was my wife an my favorite band when we were first a couple in college and when ever they played in Duluth we showed up and had a great time. They were always the band you could not believe were a national label band playing to huge crowds. And while he has toned down the energy and goofiness of his performances it is great to hear him tell a story.

Impermanent Things is the song I love best on that album too. I don’t know how I managed to buy it but I did. I carry it in my heart like an ember.

Always a fan! It was a pleasure to meet you at LOUNGE AX in Chicago, many years ago! Such a moving performance, and you handed me your guitar. 🙌 I will always remember your kindness & openness to share shared experience with another artist like myself fondly!

I like this mans outlook. Just discovered him through "Unmistakable Creative" podcast, where he also came across well. Going to try his book "Let me out!" to help quieten MARV in the people I teach/mentor. Keep up the good work TED and Peter.

I hope you never suffer with gout Peter so you can relive that moment every time you enjoy MacAllan (though it is made in Sherry casks). That is also my favorite of your songs. Weren't you awake when you wrote that song? Isn't the waking state such hard work (though ultimately fulfilling) that we anesthetize ourselves, most of the time without even realizing it? Epiphanies are so transient. How unfortunate and tragic.
