My intermittent fasting consists of eating between 12pm and 4pm and fasting the rest of time. I have been doing this for over eight months and I feel as good as I can be at my age (I will be 77 in a few days!) I am extremely poor, so I can't afford the best quality salmon, and most of my vegetables, avocados, and nuts are not organic, but I eat as healthy as my budget allows. Sometimes what you don't eat is just as important as what you eat. Avoid processed and sugary foods, avoid restaurants (I can't afford them anyway!), make everything from scratch, chew your food well, etc. Hope it helps!

I was borderline high and am now normal (started IF after the panel in 2019). Weight is the same as it was in 2019 so IF is the only thing that changed. I started 16:8 intermittent fasting two weeks ago and have never felt better. I have about 30 pounds to lose and so far lost 8 pounds. The best part for me has been the renewed energy and less brain fog. I have an autoimmune disease and there were days that I could barely get out of bed. I feel so much more productive now. I can actually play with my kids and be attentive to my husband. I’m making dinner again and walking everyday. The impact this has had on my life and relationships is just incredible. I’m hooked. I’ll be doing this for life.

My husband, 37 and I, 33, have been doing intermittent fasting for 4 years. We started because of Dr. Berg. But this ted talk is very appreciated. Our health has improved tremendously with IF. We do 23:1 on weekdays Monday-Friday. And 20:4 on weekends. We have 2 kids together who eat very healthy & are not overweight. Unfortunately everyone in our families are either overweight, obese, and even morbidly obese on both sides. Both side's our families have numerous health issues & unfortunately passsing away early. My husband & I decided that will not be US. And we have dedicated for the past 4 years to IF and animal based diet all being organic and grass fed of course. We are the only ones in our families that are not overweight & are very healthy. Zero health issues. We plan to do this the rest of our lives.

I did this by intermittent fasting and switched to a WFPB (Whole Foods Plant-Based) lifestyle. No exercise, no counting calories. I am disabled so I couldn't exercise. But now with the weight loss, I can exercise. Exercise is a necessary key component for me now. I got down below 300 pounds and suddenly my weight loss stalled. So now I do DDP YOGA and use a stationary exercise bike. The adventure continues.

I am 64 years old, male. I have been fasting 20 hours per day for a little over 2 years, with several 44 hour fasts per month. I have lost 65 pounds, stopped blood pressure meds, stopped talking about cholesterol meds due to improved test results. My weight is stable. My feet don’t hurt anymore. I am able to run for exercise again. I have much less inflammation and pain. I am forever in debt to my doctor who has guided me onto this path. It is definitely a lifestyle change for me. I stumbled upon IF. After retiring I've been sleeping in till late morning and have breakfast around 11 or 12. Usually coffee and toast with peanut butter. I then eat a normal dinner at a normal time and then I am full and done for the day. I started losing weight (I was pretty overweight) and worried i had cancer or something because I kept losing weight. One day while watching a daytime TV show with a guest nutritionist who was touting IF, I realized that's what I was doing. I had lost 34 pounds and it wasn't cancer! I have been able to keep the weight off during this time of quarantine while everyone else is gaining. It is the easiest "diet" I have ever done. It's not really a diet.

D Greg Many people fast as a part of religious practice for centuries. Fasting has been used by the devout (monks, priests, even the Buddha) to seek clarity of mind. Ramadan, the month where Muslims dry fast, is seen as a way of purifying the body and garnering gratitude for food as nourishment. This wisdom’s been around for a while. The 3 meals a day concept is very much a Western commericialized concept meant to sell you sugar and dairy because we were producing so much of it.

With 17:7 IF for the last 6 months, my hemoglobin a1c went from 5.9 to 5.2, my fatty liver disease was reversed (liver enzymes were severely elevated but they are well within range now!), and lost about 10% of my weight. I am a woman in mid-30s with PCOS. My weight loss has plateaued so I want to incorporate some changes now by adding one to two days of 24 hour fasting each week, eating healthier lunch, walking more, and doing strength training. IF is not a restrictive diet so it’s more sustainable. Most importantly, the blood test numbers really tell me that I’m doing the right thing for my body.

@leopoldbloom100 5 жыл бұрын
It was about four month to lose about 22 lbs, I got to 183 or thereabouts. Then I hit a plateau for a while. I broke through the plateau with a forty hour fast, went to 177. Then I hit another plateau at about 177, did a longer fast (48 hrs) and went to 172. The whole process has been about ten months. I seem to do better with a 16 hour fast. I think when I go 22 hours, I eat to much in the one meal. My A1c has dropped from 8 to under 6. It's not as hard as it might seem. Be aware of ghrellin. Ghrellin is a chemical which tells you you are hungry. But it is produced at the times at which you're are accustomed to eating. Not when you are actually hungry. It passes in an hour or less. Now I feel hungry only after 16 hours of fasting when I'm accustomed to eating. Ig I skip lunch, the ghrellin goes away. (Not sure I'm spelling that right.) The 48 hour fast I just did was pretty easy. I worked out twice during the 48 hours. I felt a little weak during the second workout at hour 46. I think Dr Jason Fung is the best guide to fasting. See him on utube and his book The Obesity Code. Dr. Annette Bosworth is also very good. She urges that you be on a keto diet for thirty days before starting to fast. Good luck, Kimberly.

I used to feel great, like I've never felt before BUT I had to STOP intermittent fasting because my cycle completely stopped. I learnt that women should be fasting differently to men. I started intermittent fasting in October of last year and I have lost 30 pounds so far. Started out at 230 pounds and for the first time in almost a decade I weighed under 200 pounds yesterday. I eat dinner at 7 PM and don’t eat again until 11 AM at the earliest. Multiple times a week I will do one meal a day. I’ve drastically cut out sugar and carbs, although not completely. This weight loss has happened with minimal exercise. I’ve just recently decided to go on daily brisk walks for 30 minutes during my fasted state. I know it’s different for everyone, but for me, this was shockingly simple.

For eg: usual 3 meals a day you eat egg and tea in the morning, steak and potato in the afternoon and rice stew and chicken in the evening. And let's say all this added up to 2000 calories. Then with IF/OMAD you ate rice and chicken and stew that you would eat enough of it to have the same 2000 calories. So basically it saves money. OUr first meal is at noon at about 11:00am. then the second meal was dinner at about 6:00pm, no snacks at between. After dinner, we had to do our homework, used a lot of brain energy. that's our daily routine until I graduated from high school and attended college. I was very thin before college. When in college, my friends advised me to have breakfast everyday to keep me full of energy for whole day long. my weight started increasing, and I couldn't concentrate after having breakfast. After only 2 weeks I'm feeling much better mentally. I had depression (still do to some extent), because I lost my 3yo daughter. That was tough and I didn't feel like living. I attribute my better mental health to a few things: Intermittant fasting, drastically reducing my sugar intake and just plain old fashioned will-power. It feels very empowering to use my will in a willful way (if you know what I mean). I work at a Cafe doing food preparation, so I physically touch tasty food all day, but I don't even make myself a sandwhich at lunch. I skip breakfast and lunch, then have whatever I want for dinner. I'm feeling much better mentally. In the last 2 weeks I've lost 8kg (17 pounds). I still have a few snacks like chips and chocolate after dinner too... although I'm trying to cut them out too. I drink water if ever I feel hungry - which is not very often. My body "just knows" my will-power is in charge. If I think of cheating, I usually do... it's very much a mental game with myself, but I'm enjoying it. Good luck everyone!

Here's my story. Im 22 and im in an intermittent fasting for 85 days. I've lost only 4 kilos with no exercise. Ik it would be much better if i could exercise but im lazy. Important part for me is, I've always been a gastric patient and had constipation. In last 3 months, my acidity problem improved tremendously. I've taken only 3-4 antacids in last 3 months. And my constipation is almost gone. Intermittent suits me so well i love it. And I've decided to take this as the diet of my life. ❤️

Twice a week I go to an indoor pool and exercise hard for 1 hr, there are plenty of videos on KZbin and consume about 400 calories per hr...I enjoy it, they are many benefits of exercising in the water 💦. You don’t get tired as in the water the blood 🩸 pressure drops as well as the heart beat...I couldn’t do the same amount of work out the the water without being exhausted.

This is WAYY to restrictive on your diet and will overall lead to an even more serious binge eating disorder. Just eat lower calorie alternatives to the foods you like and it will leave you 20 times more satiated, and flexible then intermittent fasting

The only long term study with IF found that there are absolutely no benifits of fasting other then caloric reduction... let me say it again they found 0 health benefits and the only people who lost weight lost it because they cut their calories...

@@sergiosantana7103 what about the University of Alabama's study with obese men that illustrated lower insulin levels, better insulin sensitivity and lower blood pressure in the men after a period of intermittent fasting? This study was mentioned in the Harvard medical school publication.

@@griffinzoo did you read the Harvard study? It looked at 24 other studies including the Alabama one and compared the findings... all showed lower weight reduced insulin resistance and lower blood pressure... and just this part of the study would back all these BS claims until you further read that compared to EVERY OTHER calorie restricted diet the results were the exact same. The study determined that other then the benifits you get from reducing calories IF does absolutely nothing else for heath... get it? My wife does IF and I'm not against it, I'm against these wild claims that fasting does more then just restrict calories....

I gained so much weight with my pregnancies and was really struggling postpartum. I started intermittent fasting in November 2020, not eating until noon or after 8pm, and by March I was down 40lbs. I started working out a few days a week with weightlifting, but I had to give that up when I returned to the office regularly. I now IF 5-6 days a week, giving myself some grace on the weekends to have breakfast with my family. It wasn't a diet, it wasn't restrictive, and it worked. I wasn't overly strict with what I ate during my eating window. If I wanted pizza, I had pizza. If I wanted a cookie, I had a cookie. I found my appetite shrunk and it took a lot less to make me full. Before, I would practically binge eat and not be able to stop. Now moderation is easy and I don't feel like I am restricting myself or starving. It has changed my life!

Müslim are fasting 1 months in a year) read about it. Why we do it because it comes from Our religion. İt is very health. During the determined hours we neither eat no drink. Thus way you feel hunger, starvation. İt healthy for you. And u understand how poor people suffer from hunger. That is the mean. The one who cant keep must feed every day one poor man. And that comes not only from Our religion. Ours is the Last religion. But it is in the roots of every religion. Every religion has fasting ways

Hi. While cooking for my youngest child who is vegan and doing intermittent fasting, I adopted his schedule. He is 6' and maintains 195 # with workouts on top of a 10 hour work day. I lost 25 lbs, effortlessly, no longer have the annual visit to my cardiologist who was amazed at my health changes (I refused statins) and better BP readings, etc. When I shared what I was doing, he, the cardiologist said, 'oh, I can't do that'. Even with a career and a family, I think it is still doable, maybe more like 14 / 10. I am late 70s and have managed chronic health issues with diet, but allowing the body to function optimally and heal itself as we go with intermittent fasting, is a much better alternative !!! Namaste all

I began intermittent fasting in January. I’ve dropped a kilogram each month, so six kilograms. feel the best I’ve felt in a decade. I am in my size 12 jeans without a muffin top. Not difficult, nor am I craving sugar or salt any more. I eat good healthy food between approximately midday and six pm. Need nothing else. It’s the best thing ever. I’m 56 and feel better than I have in 30 odd years.
