With the full force of our community we can and we will stop child sexual abuse.
Anna is the Executive Director of the Red River Children’s Advocacy Center (RRCAC). The RRCAC is part of the healing journey for children and youth who are the victims of child sexual abuse. Through the collaborative efforts of law enforcement, social services, and medical mental health and advocacy professionals, the RRCAC’s mission comes to life: providing a child-friendly, neutral setting to disclose accounts of abuse and receive services. The child must be embraced and supported. The perpetrator held accountable. There are human behaviors so revolting and incomprehensible like eating human flesh, that they are taboo. Anna believes we should have the same reaction to child sexual abuse - revolt. The RRCAC and its partners are fighting to stop child sexual abuse. Shifting from a focus on just intervention, these professionals and organizations are increasing efforts to prevent child sexual abuse from ever happening by enlisting the help of every adult!
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I am so sorry for what you and your siblings went through, no child deserves that or should have to endure it especially at the hands of their parent. The shame belongs to your father alone, you did nothing wrong and have nothing to be ashamed of. There is hope, you can heal, the sorrow can diminish. Don't give up, and don't let your father take more from you than he already has. You deserve all the good life has to offer. You are valuable, the world needs you.

You notice that once someone is abused, it seems to happen more. Yes, they don't care if the child is 1 or under. It's terrible

As a survivor, I applaud this woman and the important work she does. I relate to being snatched from my bed to be preyed upon by people who SHOULD have been my protectors. Writing about my experiences is helping me heal. I am trying to become more comfortable sharing my past, so I will share one of my essays below, but trigger warning, do not click on the post under this one if you are sensitive to CSA. If you relate to it, I wish you peace and healing.

People should have a license before they can breed. Anyone who reproduces without undergoing some type of testing warrants the CPS doing regular check ups on their kids. I know a lot of people don't agree on this, which is fine. But do SOMETHING, come up with your own ideas. Child abuse/child welfare should be one of our main public discussions, along with climate change, abortion, and all other issues considered super important.

Housing needs to be de commodified for survivors of abuses too. So victims can more easily flee and find safe housing away from their abuser.

Wonder when TED Talks will gain some sense with how they do things... Also this is a "decent" video and decent about the topic at hand. But really.. preditors? If thats all you are going to see to EVERY case then... you will not get very far... But yeah in richer countries there might be more preditor like people out there, to poor places some are used get money, use children to the extent for their family etc... Taking away the one who might have burned into their memory isn't exactly going to "help". Sometimes its better to take a look from "above" and try to make the child or older to move by themselfs around/through the past/present. also sometimes the adult with a child "relationship" (good or bad) Can be look at in different ways, even though mostly its Fully a bad thing (but just not always) Humans are complicated creatures, both young or old. But sure one can't think that a young child would know everything or much about whats going on.
