Another tip for a trip. Give your trip a distinct intent. Try and give a strong association between the substance and your intention for taking the trip. "To explore myself". "To become more connected to those around me". Keep it short, probably one sentence. And focus strongly on that intention. I even look at the substance before taking it, bestowing this sort of strong association. Then consume the substance, and take a couple seconds to focus on your intention for the trip again. Then go about whatever you were going to do. Don't fret over it, it will work as a beautiful guide for your trip. It's choosing which direction you're going to roll the snowball down the hill. So choose wisely and genuinely. I feel this is never mentioned in psychedelic advice, and myself only sort of randomly thought up this helpful step before my last 3-4 trips. But those last ones were a spiritual and existential goldmines. Deep inner and outer deliberations on what exactly makes up the build of my "living existence". This does sort of fit into the set of your mind in set/setting. But I feel it is almost it's own important and distinct step because it is so powerful and influential on your journey
@DaveSimkus5 жыл бұрын
I know this is old but that is a good trip tip. I find that by preparing yourself even months in advance and writing down questions you want to explore during your trip is a great way to get a lot of value out of the experience. Of course when you are tripping you might completely disregard all your preparations but having notes reminding you what your sober self would like to know can put you on a mission. This also can work with marijuana to a similar degree.

The loss of 'self' is one the most profound effects in my experience. That and the honesty and depth of the self-reflection. It's like you've become someone else but with access to all the memories and together that enables you to see who/what you really are and see/judge yourself from a third person perspective. That can be quite a sobering experience - all your faults laid bare - nothing is hidden. What you learn during this time is not easily forgotten after the experience, which is definitely a good thing - it can motivate you to change and become a better person. He's right about the intensity - it's an amazing experience but not one that you'd want to last too long or repeat too frequently. If you do, you'll soon find yourself longing for 'reality' again - and your old self. A bit like a trip to the theme park - some rides you may absolutely love, but that doesn't mean you'd want to stay on the ride all day long, every day of the week ....urghhh!

I always argue that they should put it into the drinking water. Why stop at fluoride? If the government is going to medicate its population with fluoride, they should at least give people a healthy drug like psilocybin shrooms. Of course I don't believe that they should put any drug into the water supply. But I do believe that everyone should ingest mushrooms at least a few times in their life. Jacob Watson not everything is black or white. That's like telling someone who is professionally diagnosed with clinical depression to just stop feeling that way. A lot of times it's a lack of serotonin so it's not possible to achieve the feeling of joy. All the trash drugs prescribed by doctors and pushed by big pharma, all have the side effect of increased suicidal thoughts. That's it is ridiculous. Ever been injured and prescribed a pain killer? That's literally opium or heroine. Psilocybin can be microdosed, which doesn't get you high or trip, it attaches to your serotonin and allows you to feel more joy, to achieve a happiness without being in a haze and potentially killing yourself. I'm sure you'll argue with drugs are bad, if you can't feel happy like other people you're just not trying." Don't speak of what you don't know kid. You can wake up in the morning and hum and skip around your house, some of us wake up and think that eating a bullet would be serenity. Consider yourself lucky

I will microdose shrooms when I can get a hold of them, literally 0.2g up to 0.5g when I feel like it. I was microdosing 10mg of acid for a while to get some writing done, and although it was a stimulating cognitive enhancer, it did feel aggressive and twitchy. Make sure you don't eat any food at least 6-8 hours before a trip. I usually fast the whole day before a big time trip. Also, if you are going for a big dose, I'd advise you to remove meat from your diet AT LEAST a week before a trip. It may make a massive difference to some people, not all though. Shrooms have levels and your preparation is kind of different for all of them. You can have a 1g-1.5g without that much prep, but I've found that anything 3.5+ (depending on experience) is always worth of prep. Aaaaand, yes, marijuana. Weed can help you reduce any sickness you might feel. I always feel sick even at lower doses, so I have had to learn to manage it.

I gained deep insights into my subconsciousness, found the root of my anxiety and felt extreme love, extreme sadness and extreme emotional pain. Ayahuasca is a teacher, a medicine and a tool with a great healing potential. Not a drug. I'll take it again!

Awesome talk, man. Really glad I found this. It's funny how many prosper and ancient civilizations used it and were much more spiritually evolved than us used psychedelics and now, we're farther then ever from these concepts, and the stigma continues... I can only imagine how must be an experience like that of psychedelics, and one day would like to try it when the time is right. I think it can be an incredible tool for our consciousness to use and evolve Thanks for the talk man, peace

I had a very very bad Acid trip a few years ago which lead to PTSD a few months later. I believe it was because I straight away took MDMA after my Acid trip and didn't give my brain time to deal with what had just happened to me. It all began when I watched Waking Life one night and it triggered me to re-live the feelings I had in the trip. I began to shake and cry and convulse with fear on the floor of my bedroom floor. I had no idea what was happening to me - all I perceived was an intense flood of fear of just 'being' itself. I was so scared to keep living and even more scared of death. I had around 7 panic attacks daily for about 6 months. Life lost all meaning for me and the only thing that helped was meditative breathing techniques. No amount of consoling from my partner, family or friends made any difference and the world around me seemed like an alien universe. I questioned everything and lost any desire to do the things I loved. I saw a psychologist but she was no help and all day I researched what could possibly be happening to me. I was so scared I had ruined my life and desperately looked for an answer. Nobody understood the hell I was living every day and I felt so alone. Slowly I forced myself to start painting again. It really helped me and gave my overactive mind something to focus on that was calming. That and reading about the brain and reading books on Buddhism, understanding the brain and the mind. Over time I began to develop techniques for keeping the fear at bay. Now when I feel that specific existential fear come up (which is extremely rare) instead of letting it take over, I look at it almost like a box, I recognise it is there and I choose not to open it. It then goes away. I am now a totally different person than I was before the panic attacks. A much better person. Going through this experience helped me in so many ways and I am grateful for it. I have far less fear in my every day life and the social anxiety which I had my whole life is near non existent. I am far more confident and much stronger. I deal with things in life much better and I look forward to starting my day as opposed to sleeping in until 12:00 like I used to. I started my own business and care less about how I appear to others. I also have a lot more compassion for others and understand what it is like to extremely suffer. I believe that psychedelics are very very powerful tools and must be respected. I would not take back what happened and I hope that one day the legal use of plant medicines will help people. I also believe that we often grow through great adversity and our brains need a big kick up the arse sometimes to truely change. I write this in hopes that if anyone else is experiencing what I went through they may read it and know not to give up hope of being normal and happy again. I see this experience now as a gift.
@maxgorlov12437 жыл бұрын
B.Clare I went through a very similar thing. And the thing you wrote that stood out was the loss of social anxiety. Same here! I just don't feel awkward or like I'm self-monitoring all the time any more; I'm much less shy. It's great, right? 😊
@maxgorlov12437 жыл бұрын
B.Clare And btw, I'm a year into recovery and possibly better than before the panic attacks! I know the exact kind of existential fear that you mean, and I pray that others never have to feel it.

B.Clare thank you for writing this. It resonates with a very similar experience that I had but it was induced by a bushman shaman sans psychedelics, just by energy, but in response to my question to him about a psychoactive plant that they use that I am doing research on. I was given an ego death experience that threw me into PTSD for years before it was diagnosed and I atladt had a grip on what was going on. Closest thing to a spell I've ever come across. Now I am on the other side of the dark woods I realise what a gift he gave me when I asked him, how do you use this plant...he threw me over the cliff into the abyss and said find your way out. I actually through an incredible series of coincidences ended up takung the plant I had gone to speak to him about to begin my journey back to myself. The trauma must be defused from the reptile survival hypocampus to stop it hijacking the higher minds thoughts. That was the begining of my recovery from PTSD.EMI..eye movement integration..its not a woowoo therapy, your eye movements belie the trauma buried in your ancient brain when triggers are mentioned. You need a trained person to do this . Hope this helps some one stuck in trauma mind with the incessant, exhausting thought noise. You must start crawling your way back to sanity, and don't ever lose heart. Healer heal thyself.

"Recreational" - Sure a psychedelic trip can be anything but rest but the word "re-creational" actually fits it very well in my opinion. When taking a psychedelic trip one is to make a profound experience. Therefore the patterns of thinking and perceiving are about to change, they re-create.

If you go by the definition of rec-reational. It is using it for fun like when people drink at parties. I personally don't use it that way because it will teach me a lesson. Nope, you're not. Computer screens are just random shiny light sources when tripping and serve no purpose. Watching the clouds play with each other is more interesting. In fact, that's what happened in my first trip. I tried to make it perfect, got some relaxing music going, dl's a couple movies, had a friend over and all that. Ended up chilling for 8 hours in my lazy chair, watching the clouds and having a wide smile on my face. Just try it, preferably with friends in a forest.

I'm coming out of my seat with excitement with the facts, I mean, it's undeniable truth and it deserves to be shared, this kind of information!! Correction: There is no physical addiction the way it is with cocaine, alcohol and cigarettes, but there is an addiction the same way addiction to video games is. it's a desirable experience.
@eliteextremophile88957 жыл бұрын
Addiction to video games is more or less the same as addiction to substances. If you're killing time or relaxing and your life doesn't evolve around gaming, it's not an addiction. There's no neurological proof for neurotic addiction unless substance is heavily neurotoxic, like alcohol. So, there's only psychological addiction and rare cases of bad neurotoxic addictions. What I mean is, tobacco for example isn't any more addictive than gaming until you're smoking hundreds of cigarettes per day. It's our social behavior that creates these ideas of addiction. Or the lack of intimate social structure in many cases and ultimately the conditioning. Psychedelics are very different from other substances and could be called as anti-addictive substances too. Reason for that revolves around the fact that they act more or less as 'sobering' experience. People tend to slip for addiction very young or after trauma. That's because they want to escape reality in their way. Some cases has to do with the fact that their life just happened to be full of stimulative substances (rock stars etc.). After certain time of conditioning (games, substances, tendencies etc.) one's addicted. Not because it's physical. Because they don't know about anything else. Trying to be without those habits has no stimulative content and usually causes anxiety. Sometimes it's bad case of illness sometimes it's petulance. Always it's different than what you've used to when under the affect/addiction. How about the anti-addictive affects of psychedelics? When consumed, they have inevitable change in perception. However you see or feel the world when under affect of psychedelics, it's still the most clear view of the world in the moment. If you have a reason to change your view of the addiction, it will happen. The clarity under psychedelics is something no other drug or bad habit can achieve. That's something one didn't feel when slipped to addiction, but it's something one is forced to experience at the moment. Anyway, addiction is the same as any other conditioned habit. If it's bad for your self or surroundings, it's addiction. If it's beneficial, it's something else.

Elite Extremophile Clearly you had never been addicted to anything serious... here is withdrawal symptoms from heroin: Pain areas: in the muscles Whole body: excessive hunger, lethargy, loss of appetite, night sweats, shakiness, weakness, clammy skin, craving, feeling cold, or sweating Behavioral: agitation, crying, excitability, irritability, restlessness, or self-harm Psychological: delirium, depression, hallucination, paranoia, or severe anxiety Sleep: insomnia, nightmares, sleepiness, or sleeping difficulty Gastrointestinal: gagging, nausea, vomiting, or flatulence Cognitive: disorientation, mental confusion, racing thoughts, or slowness in activity Mood: boredom, feeling detached from self, or loss of interest or pleasure in activities Nasal: congestion or runny nose Eyes: dilated pupil or watery eyes Also common: nervousness, seizures, sensitivity to pain, slurred speech, stomach cramps, teeth chattering, tingling feet, trembling, or tremor So tell me. does that sound the same as battling addiction to video games? p.s. Nobody smokes hundreds of cigarettes per day. That's deadly and probably physically impossible due to time limitation.
@eliteextremophile88957 жыл бұрын
And you're clearly missing my point. Heroin for example isn't very neurotoxic substance, so it couldn't affect neurons the way it causes such symptoms. Yeah, I'm talking about heroin, not some toxic compound sold as heroin. So those symptoms are mostly due to psychological aspects and conditioning. Not for concrete damage on one's body due to heroin. Also, under heroine addiction, one's social structure and personal health care isn't very rational. Every external factor has as huge impact on one's addiction. Actually far higher than the substance itself. It's not impossible to have most of the same withdrawal symptoms on gaming addict. Also gaming addiction could have several other irreversible damages. I'll make example scenario of badly addicted gamer: This guy has been addicted to gaming for many years and it has gotten very serious year a go. He doesn't sleep, eat or drink responsibly. Doesn't leave house, until he's getting microwave pizza and Mountain Dew from shop other side of the road, for the next two days. His sleep consists of 0,5-1h REM sleep and 4-6h of non-REM. This could be sleep apnea for all it matters. His spine is deformed because he lives in his gaming chair. Every social intercourse he's had, is over the games he's playing. Last time he went to dentist was 11 years a go when he was 15 years old. Scenario like this causes very bad withdrawal symptoms and general health issues. He went to doctor for aching head and back. Also his body temperature was peaking at 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit). Had to put to intensive care unit. Muscle fitness is alarming. He has heart and vascular diseases due to bad diet, lack of exercise and sleep. Dental hygiene is bad and level of full body inflammation is high. It's a miracle he's not dead yet. Spinal cord is badly damaged and irreversibly so. This guy doesn't run ever again. First couple of days he spent at intensive care unit, for heart and vascular diseases and for the bad inflammation. From this time he has no memories other than paranoia, delirium and anxiety. After he's out of ICU his anxiety grows to depression and his concentration is severely disoriented and he's socially awkward. Withdrawal symptoms are bad at this time. There's no games to help him concentrate and he's scared of social situations. First time in years he has to confront his physical and psychological symptoms. His heart is at bad state and seizures are common. It could take many years to get close to what healthy person is. Because his spine, heart and vascular system is damaged, he'a in constant paint. It's hard to live with it which also increases the risk of suicide for anxiety and depression. Also such psychological condition could create almost every thinkable physical symptom. So, how gaming addiction isn't even close to heroin addiction? They're both nearly as neurotoxic (heroin being little higher than games), so mainly external factors and life style causes the withdrawal symptoms. p.s. I simply stated that the neurotoxic level of tobacco - to create physical addiction - is too low on common smoker.
@eliteextremophile88957 жыл бұрын
So I simply corrected your list of "physically addictive" substances and tried to explain what addiction really is about. Alcohol is the only physically (neurologically) addictive substance for its shockingly neurotoxic trait on your list. Heroine and especially tobacco are both neurotoxic, but not in a way those would cause neurological addiction at commonly used dosage.

better to be addicted to psilocybin then coka cola or mcdonalds...and addiction to substances compared to something physical like sex or video games is like comparing apples to oranges

I was sitting with my friend Abhiram and we where having a conversation about a movie and its dialog about magic mushrooms. And thats how i got here. I have meditated for for almost 6months because of depression i had .In order to find cure to it i have stumbled up on all the postive experience such as , realising well being .Yoga and meditation has different dimensions to explore all with intellectual. out of the box thinking and figuring out whether its true or not its is main power (well an 20 and i know there is more dimensions to be explored) . Its like you have unlocked this hidden skill for thinking capability and self confidence 'ahangaram in sanskrit' with this skills you will unlock the power to take control of all your decisions and you will start dreaming more intensely and vividly but you have to be vegen to begin this experience. All the things from this research i have gained just through 6 months of meditation mainly well being and satisfaction more maturity . But i have never tried magic shrooms before . But i am sure it has to be taken seriously and only by adults.

People afraid of bad trips clearly never got severely depressed. You will do anything to get out of that dark cloud. A bad trip may even sound good to experience another kind of storm. I've been locked at home for days unable to do anything due to an extreme case of anxiety-depression that even gets me to faint. I would eat a bucket of shrooms right now if i had them.

I have tried some of these substances for the first time as a 30 year old atheist. Absolutely an amazing life changing experience. The music I listen to, the value I now see in religion or spirituality, my now lack of fear in death, and my depression. Went off pills for 6 months. Now I have only tried shrooms and LSD once each. ONCE! I would never have believed a drug could have that long and pronounced experience after the event. I have not had a "bad trip" so I don't know that side of the experiences, perhaps my attitude might change. But I am intrigued by microdosing . Shame it's illegal, which makes me sad. Also there are few people I can share this experiences with because of the legality. Absolutely nuts!

Completely agree. Even weirder when you contemplate the idea of panspermia, the theory that life on the earth originated from microorganisms or chemical precursors of life present in outer space and able to initiate life on reaching a suitable environment. And the fact that live mushroom spores have been found on every level of our planets atmosphere. These mushroom spores are also electron-dense and can survive the vacuum of space. Their outer layer is almost metallic/purple which allows them to naturally deflect ultraviolet light. These muthafuckas are aliens and we are its descendants.

microdosing shrooms helped my life instantly. i had a ed and was on the verge of living thru my eyes but not really seeing whats infront of me. i 100% stand by micro dosing, it made me live clearly again 💗 spiritually+ mentally for the better. but, with microdosing be ready to learn stuff about yourself bad and good, but know its all a lesson for the greater being of urself 🌬

The use of Psychedelics has pushed me to learn more about the world and myself including pushing me to move forward in education and social obligations. Can't describe the positive impact psychedelics can have on a person, their well being and the relationships they have with others.

I used to love taking lsd and mushrooms but i feel like i got all i needed out of my expirience. A lot of trips i had were basically telling me to stop wasting my time getting high basically and focus more or the real world.

I want to offer an alternative perspective to those praising mushrooms: I took 1 trip on them, and the ill effects lasted about 3 years before my mind was "normal" again. It was like PTSD in that I would randomly break down crying after, have trouble sleeping, mood swings, repetitive negative thoughts, and so on. Did it alter my thinking? Absolutely. But it altered my mind in a way I MISSED my old mind. So to those thinking "OOOO This sounds so fun" I urge you to SERIOUSLY ask yourself if you want to risk a bad trip that will haunt you for years. Playing with your brain chemistry and sense of self shouldn't be taken lightly. Not everyone has a positive result.
@polymathing2 жыл бұрын
Interesting you are in a very very small percentile which regard their psychedelic trip as a negative experience. I would want to know the Set,Setting and Dose of such an experience. I don't go around praising psychedelic mushrooms but the Functional ones which give you a high quality of health and long life. Chaga,Turkey Tail, Reishi and Lion's Mane have absolutely zero side effects, do not alter your state, have thousands of peer reviewed scientific papers behind them and thousands of years of safe use in the human population.
@givanimartin47362 жыл бұрын
Sounds to me that you might have issues with dissociation. Psychedelics will amplify what is already there. So perhaps all of that negativity is something you’re avoiding consciously but your subconscious is screaming for it to be heard felt and experienced.

ditto - mushrooms can be very destabilising especially for those with trauma issues etc - open pandoras box at your own risk - as it's the new gold rush it doesn't suit anyone to talk about these very very common responses to bad trips

@Zack Norris beer actually has an adverse effect on the pineal gland:). The same gland that excretes DMT through meditation, sleep, birth, and death:). It also regulates sleep and waking cycles:). So I would say DMT would say something like:)... Hold my Aliens or extraterrestrial entities:). lol:).
