Vetri Maaran is a Tamil film director , working primarily in the Tamil film industry based in Tamil Nadu. He made his debut with the critically acclaimed 'Polladhavan'. He studied till his tenth grade in Ranipet and moved to Chennai YMCA for his high school in the hope of becoming a cricketer. After failing to get through the selection for the Tamil Nadu team, he called it quits and joined Loyola College to pursue English Literature. He was in Loyola for 5 years where he discontinued his Masters degree to pursue a career in the film industry. Taking up an elective course called Television Presentation offered by the Visual Communication Department at Loyola College in 1995 enabled him to realize his natural interest towards film making. In 1999, Vetri Maaran worked with Balu Mahendra for a 52 episodes serial called "Kadhai Neram". He then worked on movies like "Kadhal Virus", "Julie Ganapathy" and "Adhu oru Kana Kaalam", before taking up with the direction of "Polladhavan". His second movie "Aadukalam", for the first time in the history of Indian National Film Awards, has won in six categories for a tamil feature film, with 2 awards for Vetri Maaran.

Pointers from Vetrimaran sir speech. 1st rule: Speak out your mind. 2nd rule: know your true calling. Try to accumalate knowledge on that calling. 3. Nothing is an accident in life. We take conscious decisions for our unconscious intentions. Identify what those unconscious intentions are. 4. Once you know what u want, u have to go behind it. Immaterial of the hardship u face. In general we can't be good at two things. Toughest thing is to choose is which bridge to burn and which bridge to use. 5. Life is meant to live not to win. Achieving our dream is not winning. Think beyond it. A place with joy and peace.
