I'm amazed that someone like him who has accomplished so much in the relatively short period of his life (and is trying to teach people how to do the same) is being reduced to a sex object by a bunch of people on KZbin. If you're crying about how "unfair" life is, remember that a lot of what he has gained was through hard work. Sure, his natural good looks got him into fashion, but did he stop there? He studied to develop his mind, he physically trained to develop his body. These things took time and effort, and didn't come naturally. He didn't sit back and say "I look good, that's more than enough to work with." He didn't allow himself to be boxed into the stereotype of a dumb pretty boy. So while you're here groaning about how unfair life is and looking for ways to discredit him (with useless comments like "I bet he has a small dick") at least take the lesson he was trying to teach: Don't let yourself be limited by stereotypes and other people's expectations. Work with everything you have and maximize your potential. That's the point of this video. And if you think moaning about how good he has it is going to slow him down or stop him from trying to accomplish even more, then you wasted your time watching this. You might as well sit back and wallow in your mediocrity.
@pretosenso11438 жыл бұрын
Of course, being a white young man made things easy for him. It would have been much more interesting a black man or a black woman who overcame all obstacles to accumulate knowledge and be successful.
@rustytrawler44388 жыл бұрын
He is naturally extremely good looking and extremely intelligent. No doubt he works hard too, but someone like him has things given to him on silver platter. When he goes for a job, his is very likely to get it because of the way he looks. Other people are very likely to like him because of how he looks and that in itself will open all sorts of opportunites to him that other people would have to struggle a lot harder to get. There is lots of research showing that good looking people, in whatever field, get jobs and get promoted more easily and earn more money than other people. The only reason he is giving this Ted talk and has received media attention is because he is both very hot and very bright and those things are normally seen as not going together. He may well be a nice guy as well, (I like the way he seems nervous giving the talk) however, it's a bit rich for him to advise others on how to be successful, because he doesn't really know what life is like for people less perfect than him. I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever seen a better looking man or woman than him.
@Monochromatification8 жыл бұрын
+Rusty Trawler True. But the summary is: he still worked with what he has. That's the best anyone can do. You gain nothing from withholding yourself based on perceived shortcomings. Sure, he has it good, but he did not become complacent based on his advantages. He could have decided to stop at being a model and allow himself be typecast in that way, but he didn't. He took advantage of every opportunity he had and maximized his potential. That's the message I got from this talk. The idea that the world is somehow "fair" is what makes people so bitter. That's why people are so happy to engage in ad hominem, attacking his position and talking about his privileges as a way of discrediting his message. But the truth is that everyone has a different starting point, some are advantaged and some aren't. For every person commenting here on KZbin, there's probably an equivalent human of the same age and gender toiling away in a field in some third world country. White people in Europe and America get several benefits that black people don't. Men typically get more advantages than women. Taller men more than shorter men. That's the nature of reality, and the system of chaos that governs everything. The world has never been, and will never be fair. But this is same world where Stephen Hawking is renowned theoretical physicist and not just a paraplegic on a computerized wheelchair. Looking across the fence and commenting on how good other people have it doesn't accomplish anything. We can choose to focus on our shortcomings or we can strive to make the most of our situation. We may not be the best among all, but we'll be the best version of ourselves. And that has to count for something.

As a Professor and a Model this guy is an achieving being, the looks came as a Bonus. We need to realize too that we can own multiple hats. Despite his beautiful face and chiseled physique at 27 he can still do more in life. I found the girl in me looking at him, and the woman in me by listening to what he has said. More power Dr. Boseli 😊😊😊 I love you 😊😊😊

As a master trainer, I could feel his absolute terror during this presentation. He was doing the "Texas 2-step," moving weight from one side to the other over and over. Stumbling over words is standard when speaking in a language 2nd to your own. But his voice was trembling, he was blushing, sweating, had dry mouth, and almost hyperventilating. I was so proud of him in his 2nd visit to the TED conference.

I think he managed to go well, but he is shy. It's natural, because he is young, very handsome and attracts a lot of attention to his appearance. He must feel uncomfortable and permanently think he is being judged in every way, not only by what he says, but by his looks.

Nice topic for a talk. I often find myself in similar predicaments while studying in college and seeking other interests, such as traveling, music, politics, activism, lighting design, graphic design, web programming, etc. I've been trying to use the discipline in fitness too to accomplish a high level of focus and responsibility. I enjoy going to the gym, so I always try to improve my fitness routine every day, learning what works best for me and what challenges me more. I try to apply those principles to everything else I want to excel at. I guess the hardest part is realizing none of the success and significant achievements comes in the blink of an eye and learning to appreciate every single step as being just as important as the end goal.
@oOcitizenOo8 жыл бұрын
it takes 21 day to get used to a healthy/firness life style regarding the eating habits and going to gym. Thus if you've managed with controlling yourself and you're able to stick to the plan you've made early the day you'll definitely succeed in science/web programming/language studying and etc.
