@@passerby4278 It’s not being bitter. It’s a comparison since both people are from the same region but the support is different cause one video is easier to find than the other which effects the view count. True- TedX doesn’t control people’s interest, but they do control what videos they have advertised and promote on other platforms like Instagram and Twitter. TedX controls the tags they use for their videos. There are no tags on this videos so it’s harder to search and find for people who are interested on the topic which is not fair.

destroyer 1337 Arameans were a ancient semitic group that inhabited most of the Middle East but never had a unified state but tribes like Aram Damascus. They later became assimilated in to the Assyrian empire and the Assyrians later made Aramaic the official language of the empire, same with the Chaldean (Babylonian) and Persian empires. Some Syriacs/Syrians/Assyrians consider themselves as Arameans and reject any notion of a Assyrian identity (mostly are members of the Syriac Orthodox Church).

I've never met anyone who was "anti-Assyrian." As I see it, the biggest problem in the English-speaking world, is that nobody hardly has ever even heard of modern Assyrians. Assyrians need to make thier very existence well known. What makes Assyrians any different from Hittites or Elamites? Hardly anyone knows that Assyrians have survived to this day. Aramaic is something that people have heard of, and if you tell people Aramaic is still alive, it arouses interest, and then you can tell the story of the Assyrian people that posseses this unique heritage. You don't recognize "Kurdistan"? I see your point. Unfortunately, very few people have any idea what your talking about. I've heard how Assyrians are being driven from thier land family by family, by Muslims who speak Kurdish. (Are the Kurds modern Medeans?) I don't understand why the free world is so sympathetic toward Palestinians and so cold-hearted toward thier fellow Christians of the Middle East? Don't you think that Americans all should know that Christians have been in Iraq long before Muslims? And that those Christians are being persecuted? There should be much more sympathy for Assyria in the Weat today! As for Hebrew since Babylon, many people call Rabbinic Hebrew "Hebrew-Aramaic."

Just a clarification, I’m not aware of a Chaldean or Assyrian language; however, there is the Assyrian “dialect” of the Aramaic language, there is the “Chaldean” dialect and the “Galilee” dialect which was spoken by the most important figure in the last two millennials and you guessed it our lord Jesus Christ. Different dialects and / or accents of Aramaic was inevitable bcz of the large area it covered, the distance between Nineveh or Babylon to Jerusalem, Nazareth or Galilee is vast even by today’s standards, in fact was pretty much the “known world” yet in fact maintained its integrity with a few local words here and there and to be expected. I can speak it decently but no reading/writing not even the 22 letter alphabet, it’s normally reserved for the clergy. My parents decided NOT to speak Aramaic with me and five siblings citing we’d benefit far more with English versus a semi-extinct language. I can see the validity of their well intended decision even though they spoke it amongst themselves and all the relatives, so we learned it regardless.

"Light" in Aramaic? That would be NEHORA in the Talmud etc. Jews of Kurdistan also spoke modern Aramaic until they came to Israel in 1950. The generation born in Israel all speaks Hebrew now. Only the Assyrian Christians remain to keep spoken Aramaic going. The first thing to save Aramaic is that people simply bring up the subject in conversations, that Aramaic is still spoken, and that the people who speak it are called Assyrians or Claldeans. People should talk about the fact that there are ancient Christian communities in the Middle East and that they are being driven out by persecuton. What is Aramaic? For one thousand years, Aramaic was THE major language from the Mediterranian Sea to the Persian Gulf. Since the Arab/Muslim conquest in the early Middle Ages, Aramaic has gradually been supplanted by Arabic. Aramaic has always been written in the same 22-letter Alphabet as Hebrew, although the shapes of the letters can appear entirely different in its later forms. Aramaic is very close to Hebrew and has exactly the same pronunciation. 70% Aramaic resembles Hebrew. (Arabic is 30% like Hebrew). Good luck with keeping Aramaic alive! One more thing: modern Mosul is ancient Neveveh where the prophet Jonah went.

@davidd20536 жыл бұрын
@@benavraham4397 Because we ourselves do not call our language "Aramaic". It is a term that has been promoted by foreigners and unfortunately some Assyrians have started calling it "Aramaic" because it's a more recognized name. We in fact don't speak "Aramaic". A real Aramaic speaker would not understand a modern Assyrian and vice versa. There may be a few words that are the same but majority of it is different. Some people think that we should call modern Assyrian language "Aramaic" because they think it was derived from it, if that is the case then why is not call Hebrew "Aramaic" ? Why not call Arabic "Aramaic"? ... We use the term "Surit" or "Ashurit" for our language. Why is the holy script of the Jews called "Ktav Ashurit" not "Ktav Arameet"? Since Jews lived with Assyrians in ancient Assyria, they must have called it what the the Assyrians were calling it from back then which is "Ashurit".

It is An Assyrian language. If you ask an Assyrian what language they speak (in Assyrian)? They will answer with SURIT. Surit is obviously from Ashurit. A normal Assyrian would hardly understand a word from the real "Aramaic". Even around 20-30 years ago 99% of Assyrians would have not heard of the word "Aramaic", however Anti-Assyrians have been heavily been promoting the name "Aramaic". Unfortunately some Assyrians have fallen for this brainwashing anti-Assyrian agenda of calling our language "Aramaic" because they claim Jesus spoke "Aramaic" and they think it's "kool". Our language has always been called surit / ashurit. Even when the jews left Assyria they called their writing Ashurit, which proves Assyrians called their language Ashurit from ancient times.
