Rona van der Zander has worked in 8 different countries for NGOs and large companies, which changed her global mindset drastically. In 2017 she founded her own Start-Up “GrowbeYOUnd” which connects young people worldwide. The world is currently facing unprecedented changes - technology is rapidly changing the way we work, communicate and especially learn. That’s why Rona firmly believes that we need fundamental change in our educational systems - from primary school to higher education. But what kind of changes have to be made to better prepare young people for the future? Rona van der Zander is an entrepreneur, business founder and lecturer at various Universities in Europe. She cooperates worldwide with large companies, NGOs and international organisations (including the UN) in the field of innovative education. She is the founder of GrowbeYOUnd, an agency that helps universities and businesses to build skills for the 21st century. Her personal and professional motivation is to enable people to ‘lifelong learning’ to implement sustainable change in our communities. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I love the way, how you conceptualize the Courage Zone and how to talk small actions towards that. Thank you for your insights

Great talk - it's true that everything is changing so much and so rapidly.. we really have to start thinking of how we can prepare ourselves for these changes. Loved that she gave tangible actions for everyone to do themselves!

Great tedtalk! It makes me realize I’m not prepared for the future. Many have already lost jobs due to ai and with 65% new jobs that we don’t even know about yet, those of us who think were safe may not be. These tips are not only doable by anyone but will be necessary for anyone who doesn’t want to get left behind.

This was epic Rona! Really nice talk, great stage presence and I love your messages :) I already knew that we were aligned but now I feel that I know you even better, and we are even more aligned than what I thought (which was already big!). I'm sending this to my 17 years old sister, and I would love it if more people would look at the future from this perspective :) Keep up the awesome work ;)

Wow - great talk Rona van der Zander, thanks for sharing! I do like the combination of comfort and courage zone very much which you mentioned and how you can leverage both to become a better version of a lifelong learner! What do you think would be the best incentive for people who don't understand the need for lifelong learning yet and still just rely on their (university) degree? Of course, employers are bound by duty to extend the knowledge and skills of its employees, however that's not enough! Rather, there should be an intrinsic key to motivate people to educate themself further. Maybe people should just get more time from their employers to gain more knowledge and do trainings, combined by a direct application of their learned skills. Hang in there, Rona! Best Jonas

Being a life long learner is fine but it is important to first make a life and thus whatever she said is good only after you make your first million. Her story suggests that the more you are educated the more you become the employee type i.e. work for others rather than yourself and you leave your peaceful and beautiful village in the hopes of finding a better place (but end up in a smoky isolating city!)
