Thanks for sharing your story. Even as a guy I carried the burden of purity, and suffered the guilt of "throwing away my virginity before marriage" and lying about it for years. So many wasted years.

Brene Brown helped give me words to name shame and describe vulnerability. Your book 'Pure' has helped me make sense of it and reassured me that i'm not crazy. Thank you ❤

@@LindaKayKlein1 have you watched "Soul" by Pixar yet? It is such an accurate representation of the shame rumination that you were instrumental in helping me identify and unlock. Again, thank you for sitting in shame storms and sharing stories of hope! 💖

Linda, this is a remarkable talk, for men as well as women. The combination of personal stories and ethnographic research packs a powerful punch. And your emphasis on the importance of good questions is right on target-not only for religious institutions, but for education, business, civil society, etc., etc. "Live the questions," as Rilke said, and some distant day you may find that you've "lived your way into an answer." You are Exhibit A! Thank you for your courage and life-giving spirit!

My apologies for the confusion, Chris, Beshoy and J S Bath. This talk was titled by my TEDx organizers. I agree that it doesn't really reflect the content. I'll see what I can do about getting the video retitled (have already tried some unsuccessful routes).

No one today needs or has the capacity to believe in Jesus. According to the biblical narrative, those who needed Christ for redemption were only those who were connected to the first covenant: "Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant." (Hebrews 9:15) "But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship." (Galatians 4:4-5) Who were these people who had were under the first covenant/law? The twelve tribes of Israel: "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." (Deuteronomy 6:4-5) "He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD." - Psalm 147:20 The above are just some of the many examples as to why the audience of the biblical narrative is so specific and does not pertain to anyone today. In fact, Paul, James and Peter made very clear who their audience was: "And now it is because of my hope in what God has promised our ancestors that I am on trial today. This is the promise our twelve tribes are hoping to see fulfilled as they earnestly serve God day and night. King Agrippa, it is because of this hope that these Jews are accusing me." (Acts 26:6-7) - Paul "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings." - James 1:1 "Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood" - 1 Peter 1:1 Covenant Israel was truly the world that 'God/YHWH' so loved (John 3:16). Jesus himself said that the world was old covenant Israel: “I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus replied. “I always taught in synagogues or at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret." - John 18:20 The judgment that fell on that world was only confined to the twelve tribes: "Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." - Matthew 19:28. "It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel." - Revelation 21:12 There were no other gates for other nations or people groups other than the 12 tribes. The bible story was never intended for anyone today or even post AD70. Jesus promised that the gospel would be preached and the end would happen within that generation of his lifetime:- "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." - Matthew 24:14 "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." - Matthew 24:34 If these things did not take place in the first century, then it follows that the disciples who heard these words would still be alive today but that isn't the case. Those things did take place just as Jesus had promised "there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down.” (Matt 24:2) The temple/old covenant order was destroyed and the gospel narrative had come to a close with the inauguration of the new covenant.

People are so sinful trust me they don't understand who really Jesus Christ is. You need a different mentality to understand the Lord.
