In the era wherein most media houses function to earn hefty profits, it becomes crucial to keep a check and balance upon this fourth pillar of democracy, amidst issues like misinterpretation of law, media trials, the TRP game, publishing misleading headlines, etc. The talk answers to the question as to who can keep a check on the media. Participative democracy is the need of the hour which could possibly be achieved by educating people around us.
Ms. Kavya, she is the alumni of GIBS 17-22 batch. She iscurrently pursuing her LLM from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. She worked as the Advocate General for the state of Uttarakhand in the Supreme Court. She is the Honorary member of Cyber Jagrithi & Safety Foundation (NGO). She also published her article on newspaper pertaining to law, religion etc. and handled weekly legal pages- “vidhik”. She is an academic scholar of her batch with various roles and responsibilities like Campus Ambassador for Bar Council of All India Reporter, Student Editor for College digest. She is the winner of National Moot Court Competition for 3 consecutive years. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
