Ronnie Grandell offers a new and intriguing look on compassion - as something that most people think is something reserved for other people, while it really is something that each and every one of us also need from ourselves. In the 2015 TEDxTurku event Ronnie shares his ideas about the great things that might happen - if you were more compassionate towards yourself.
Grandell works as an occupational health psychologist as well as a coach to athletes and artists. Over the years he has found that most of us are compassionate towards others during difficult times, yet harsh on ourselves. Ronnie has seen how this can lead to unpleasant effects like loss of creativity and courage, low mood as well as relationship difficulties. This has led Ronnie on a search for better ideas and tools that would liberate people from such struggles, eventually finding a path forward when he stumbled upon the concepts of self-compassion and compassion focused therapy.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

sometimes we intellectually know that people that mistreat us need to be thrown out of our Lifes and just when we think we have won the battle we realize we have interiorized their words and now are telling them to ourselves..... we need to stop listening to our negative self-talk because it is not real. thanks for this presentation.
