Hannah I deleted all socials (excluding WhatsApp which I hardly use) The best thing for me was my self esteem is coming back, my depression has dropped about 80%, I am less anxious and I have more time to read, watch or do something. I will say the only saddest part is realising that you have hardly any friends or family well that’s my case but it may not be for you. Once you leave and FOMO lasts a couple weeks. I’d say give yourself 30 days of no social media and see if you are happy at 30 days. Keep a messaging app if that helps you :)

I have taken long breaks, but when I go back to it, I feel progessively worse and concerned with it in the back of my mind all the time. I am finally taking the plunge and deleting it for good - as soon as my "self control" app lets me back on there. During my breaks, I feel much better, more peaceful. I do have a fear of missing out on potential video art gigs, but the truth is, I don't do that many and I will get more art made without it and go from there...

Wow. This is so true. I passed a day without social media and then I came back the other day saying ''you know, I am in control, I am gonna use it just 30 minutes'' (lol) and then BOOM, 3 hours straight. It is true I was talking with a friend and laughed a lot, but is also true that I came back to checking others' lives and my mood instantly changed for bad. I deactivated my Facebook and Twitter accounts but I'm really attached to Instagram.

Life without social media is peaceful. When you stop eyeing everything on what your friends do, what they are upto, what's going on in some random celebrity's life, it just wastes our time and we grow restless with time. Reserving ourselves upto us is worthy. It is peaceful.

When i was a kid, we had to ask permission to make a 30-second phone call on our home phone, which was not wireless, so you had to talk to your friend with your parents right there. And, if somebody rang up, and you didn't want to talk to them for whatever reason - busy, tired, sick, whatever - you could just tell your mother or whoever picked up the call, "Tell her I'll see her at school tomorrow". I deleted my social media 2 months ago and have never felt so much peace. I’m finally living free of FOMO.

Deleted Snapchat and Instagram 3 days ago and I’m honestly upset it took me until now to do so. Thinking about all of those moments I stared at my screen instead of where I was. Thinking about taking pictures of my perfectly assembled meal, OOTD, and “having fun” when I truly wasn’t. Social media is a controlling monster that has a way of controlling us mentally, behaviorally, and physically yet we don’t realize this until helpful videos like this or an epiphany hits us.

Today marks the beginning of my journey to free myself from constant comparison and lack of self awareness, a numbness, a box that has taken over every aspect of my life, has stopped and prolonged me from reaching my goals, has made me sad, anxious, mad at myself. I no longer want to rely on social media to “give me something to do” when I have “nothing to do” because I do have things to do, I need to live my life. Maybe one day I’ll be able to manage both but for now I’m ready for a total reset. Good luck to all you can do this!

I used to use Facebook a lot and i was kinda addicted to it. then i went to a boarding school, where we were not allowed to keep mobile phones. and as my faded addiction away, i started enjoying life more than ever before

For inner pleasure , I depended on social media. But there comes a point in life where when we are depressed with our life , social media is not gonna make you feel better. At that moment its your true hobbies like excercise, reading, journaling, cold shower, your job etc which is gonna make you feel better.

I have an app that tells me how long I've been on my phone on a daily and weekly basis... the week after I deleted Instagram I spent almost 24 hours less on my phone... I actually gained a whole day to do things that are better for me, like reading, painting, meditating, etc... The funny thing is that my excuse to use Instagram so much was to get inspired by other people's accomplishments, and it was actually taking me time away from going and doing those things myself

Social media agreed is a biggest waste of time. And it's more socially isolating then being alone. People aren't really social they're all they care about is posting their content getting likes they don't care about really making friends

And, unfortunately, 2020 locking us all in our houses has greatly increased this social media use. But I hope that people are understanding these addictions during these times and seeing what social media is doing to them and what it has been to doing to me for so many years.

That's so true! But ironically for me, the lockdown has shown me more on how toxic being online a lot of the time can be. And how I could use my time in a more valuable way instead of social media. For me the fact that basically all social interaction has been forced to online has made me feel overwhelmed and miss the feeling of interacting in person. And I'm hoping more people feel the same after Covid ends because it's insane how many people I see who are glued to their phones anytime I go outside. It's really taken over our lives.

I know for many it feels tough to do the final step. I did it once and came back after some time which was a big mistake. I wanna focus on my life and especially on my family. Life is beautiful and even if it will be hard sometimes, then we should lift our heads and do something about it instead of lowering our heads to look at a screen which doesn't makes us feel better. We live only once and we live now. Be strong, folks.

Bless this young man. I wish people like him would have been on a platform every day repeating this message from that day to this. It is truly sad to witness how this ‘social connectedness’ has fragmented true human interaction.

It’s my 11th day without social media I purposely erased the apps because I realized I was addicted and I’ve been doing so much more productive stuff , I love these type of videos ! And I don’t plan to get it back until August 6th. I challenged myself to not have social media for a month , Ik sounds insane but it’s been amazing so far , you guys should try it it’s a life changer

The next week since I delete my social media was incredible: was as if I was blind before to the beautiful and to the people around me and now I could finally see it all. I discover skills that I didn't know I possess, and things that I truly like, not because people is doing or liking. I was thinking to stay just some months offline... But now it's been a year and I hope to never came back and still living well the present life and feeling so free :)
