Education: It's all about connection | Suchatvee Suwansawat | TEDxChiangMai

Thailand's expenditure on education as a percentage of its GDP is the second highest in the world but the lack of effective education is considered one of Thailand’s biggest problems. In spite of many attempts at reforming education, the problem persists. Suchatvee believes that something is missing. The connection between the expectations of adults and their children has been lost. Do adults really know what children like and how they best learn? He suggests that they key lies in connecting to the dreams and aspirations of children to give meaning and purpose to their educational journey. His talk is in Thai.
ศาสตราจารย์ ดร. สุชัชวีร์ สุวรรณสวัสดิ์ อธิการบดี สถาบันเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าคุณทหารลาดกระบัง จบปริญญาเอกด้านวิศวกรรมจาก MIT เป็นศาสตราจารย์ด้านวิศวกรรมอุโมงค์คนแรกของไทย ผู้ออกแบบอุโมงค์รถไฟฟ้าใต้ดินลอดแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาได้สำเร็จ ได้รับรางวัลวิศวกรดีเด่นแห่งอาเซียน และนักเรียนทุนรัฐบาลดีเด่นเข็มทองคำ เป็น Eisenhower Fellow ในฐานะผู้นำโลกยุคใหม่ ที่โดดเด่นด้านการพัฒนาสาธารณูปโภค และปฏิรูปการศึกษา ยังได้ตำแหน่ง “The Game Changer” จาก Ellen Men Top 40 ปี 2015 ยังเป็นนายกวิศวกรรมสถานแห่งประเทศไทย และประธานมูลนิธิอาคารเขียวไทย
Suchatvee Suwansawat is the President of King Mongkut's Institute of Technology. He has disguised himself as a new student on the orientation day to get insight into how new students perceive the institution. Dr.Suchatvee graduated with a Ph.D in Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is president of Engineering Institute of Thailand and the Thai Green Building Institute.

มนุษย์เริ่มเรียนรู้ตั้งแต่อยู่ในท้องแม่ ช่วงเวลาที่เรียนรู้เร็วที่สุดคือจากอายุ 2 ขวบถึง 18 ปี แล้วก็เริ่มเรียนรู้ช้าลงหลัง 2-18 ปี แต่จะเปลี่ยนระบบประสาทเป็นความอยากทดลงมากกว่าเรียนรู้ แต่จะเรียนรู้ต่อเมื่อถูกเหตุการณ์หรือความจำเป็นบางอย่างบีบบังคับให้เรียนรู้เท่านั้น
