AroundSun The “smoking gun” is in the testimony of the men tasked directly with securing Ukraine cooperation with POTUS request. It is also in the blocking of those witnesses who provided that testimony. It is present in POTUS’s own admission on live television that he would accept foreign assistance with dirt on an opponent in an election were it offered again and his confirmation that he would not contact the FBI before doing so. He has been duly impeached by the House of Representatives , the GOP senate has chosen to undermine the impeachment process and the only remedy for executive abuse of power provided in the Constitution. In choosing partisan and personal gain over their sworn oath to honor the Constitution and the requests of the people who overwhelmingly stated their desire to hear the testimony and be presented with all of the evidence the GOP has betrayed the trust of the American people and destroyed the integrity of the American Justice system. What corrupt activity was the Obama administration charged with? Please listen to the message that this man is trying to convey.

Not quite Bob. You left out the most important question, "Why was a wire tap operation set up against an opponent that had no chance of winning." Everyone knew Nixon was way ahead, and by all estimations, was going to be re-elected. The reason for this break-in was never explored by you or Bernstein. All the rest of is just smoke and mirrors. A good reporter would ask such questions. But some were just content to take the word of a disgruntled FBI agent who thought he should have been given the Director's job.
@bryanmachin2152

That's easy. Nixon was paranoid and thought of all political opponents as enemies who had to be punished. P.S. how can the rest of it be "smoke and mirrors" when there was a crime that was being covered up?

I accept your point. Through Trumps actions he has made the media situation in this country far worse by pointing out news negative about him to be his favorite two words .. fake news. However, I watched these two, woodward and Bernstein they are worse now than they were covering nixon they hyperbole used by these two is incredible. Bernstein saying Kelly has a duty to the nation to resign. Then they pan over to kelly and Mattis did you say the things in this book? No. I dont really care about any of the other so called inner circle members in this book the two that matter to me are Kelly and Mattis. Military guys, men to whom a clean reputation and name mean so much to them. Why would they deny saying it if they said it or better still why not resign. Why on earth would they stay if it is as bad as his book says? I am trying to analyze this logically.

I tend to give Woodward the benefit of the doubt because of his experience. Good to think critically, too. I just tend to believe his points are pretty well thought out compared to your average comment section banter. I mean, he took down Nixon, who had it coming but might have otherwise gotten away with being a criminal.

Questionable. It's not hard to play a game of 'count the alts' on political pieces. I think a big chunk of those are lying, trying to get us to point out swords at one another. As for his physical supporters... who knows? They're mostly pro-crime, though. That's what the whole 'manafort did nothing wrong' thing really is, post indictment.

The so called Watergate Burglars were Five CIA Operatives not necessarily working for Nixon. Six million people died in the American Vietnam War from 1945 to 1975, Vietnamese/Cambodians/Laotians and Americans. Prior to 1945 the OSS (CIA) waged a successful guerilla war defeating the Japanese Imperial Army, with our Vietnam allies, supplying arms to the Viet Minh Army also known as the Viet Cong.

Hi from Germany. I understand that a few guys try and compare Nixon to Trump. But Nixon was obsessed with power, while Trump is obsessed with ego. Nixon was a very intelligent criminal, Trump is, let's say less intelligent. To be a part of the Nixon team, you had to be smart and loyal. To be part of the Trump team, you have to look good (or should I say: feel good?). For generations, the US was the motor for progress in the world. Today, people who protect american values more often live in Europe.
