He has experienced stardom by his association with playback Singers, T.V artists and famed South Indian Music Directors. Growing up, I always thought that playing the Tabla was nothing more than hitting a couple of floor drums with your hands, thus I assumed it was easy and nothing much was needed. When I got older, I got more into music (mostly rock and metal music) and learned about the strong emphasis on rhythm there in the drumming and percussion, especially in metal drumming. That was when I realised how wrong I had been about the Tabla and it's involvement in Indian Music, especially with what Ujith is playing here. I could never do something like that. Therefore those who devoted their lives to it's mastery always have my admiration and respect.
