Warning to anyone who is not sufficiently trained in legs. Don’t try an RP style leg workout right away. You might make it through it because your legs have a high endurance (duh, you walk on them all the time) but they will be destroyed for like a week and then have fun trying to pick up anything from the floor
@BrofUJu

Lmao this is so true. Now I can actually have wobbly legs at the end of the workout and be sore but okay the next day. First few times I tried it that extreme I was horribly sore for like 3 days, especially hams just feels brutal
@TheTdg97
@TheTdg97 24 күн бұрын
Hey, the other day I saw a video from RP with Jesse James, it was a push workout, but it only was incline dumbbell bench press, deficit push ups and dumbbell fly, is that really enought to target chest, shoulders and triceps really good? And I don't mean that in bad a way, because I'm genuinely intrigued if that's enough, because I know rp promotes that workouts should be like 1 hr or 1 hr and 15 minutes, but my workouts are like 2 house and I do like 7 exercises to target all 3 muscles, but I don't know if I'm in the wrong there
@kaderux
@kaderux 24 күн бұрын
@@TheTdg97you could probably benefit from a little less and focusing more on your technique if that's the amount of exercises you're doing and the time you're spending as well. as long as you're getting a good stretch, controlling the weight, and training close to failure, 3 to 4 exercises might be all you need. remember quality over quantity. try and watch some technique videos here and you might see some needed adjustments to make your exercises feel better. 👊🏽
@BrofUJu
@BrofUJu 24 күн бұрын
@@TheTdg97 it's really up to you, but I'd say 7 exercises in one session is just way too fatiguing. Or find a way to put shoulders or triceps on a different day or workout. On push day I do 2 chest, one shoulder, one tricep exercise. I have a fourth day where I add in more arms, shoulders and whatever as necessary (abs, Calves) I find works well for me. Hit it hard and get out.

Back when I was working as a clinical LMT I once worked on a kid, he was probably around 11 or 12, who was a competitive swimmer. After talking to him for a bit and asking how he liked swimming I could immediately tell he wasn't that into it and it was painfully obvious it was his parents pushing it on him. Dr Mike makes an excellent point about not forcing your kids into sports if they don't want to do them.

"I might cry but ill do it." Gonna keep that in the back of my mind at all times from now on. She has such crazy focus and they are excellent at pushing her with positivity. My younger daughter started at 14 (2 years ago), she wanted to do it because she knew I've been lifting for 30 years, I trained with her for 1 year, now she goes to the gym alone. She enjoys it very much. I'm proud of her, and lucky I could inspire her, a good example always works. My elder daughter is not into lifting (yet), she is rather the "runner" type, but I hope she will come to her senses.😊 Anyway, this girl is very disciplined.👍

Sometimes it can be tough being trans masc in the gym space bc I don't want to do booty workouts every day and coordinate outfits and believe that's the only kind of place women+ have in a gym, I just want to feel seen and heard and included and Dr. Mike FEEDS that culture 💚🥸

Have you noticed between Rich Froning and co. and this 16yr old, crossfitters are all in, want and like the challenge and never whine or complain. I could be her great grandmother but still have the same drive and love for these challenging workouts. I love it and most crossfitters do. We just aren't lucky enough to have RP in person training. So jealous! Times like this I wish I was her or Froning! Just an old throwaway like you pretend to be, lol. Great video! Absolutely going to try and torture myself with this leg training this week. Or should I say waek;) It is about the stimulus and goals so going lighter to failure with perfect form is the true goal. Gotta be fine with pain and perfection..❤😊😅

As much as I like Dr. Mike for his shirt king muscle bear-ness, Jared grew on me this episode. He had both rebellious kid energy and careful dad energy and the latter was 🥵

I'm kinda at the point where I'd like Jared to be the face of the company now. All the reasoned info, none of the same 4 recycled jokes.

Dr. Mike really flirting with violating his probation with this video 🤣 seriously though, damn good workout! That girl is a champ for putting herself through that with a smile the entire time

16:10, that was absolutely some inner growl from the girl. Legs burning, Mike telling you to stand up while the legs won't.

It's honestly crazy how hard all the women - and now girls - train while listening to the coaching. She straight up seemed like she was willing to die to complete that workout.
