I love the solo at the end, especially because it conveys how almost desperate he is, fighting against the numbness, whether medically induced, or numbness to the things we see in our lives as we age, he sounds as though he's trying to break out, and it's such an emotionally moving and evocative performance.

As someone with chronic neuromuscular pain, this is the one PF that means the most to me personally. In many ways just listening to their music can be a form of pain relief. The abdominal pain Roger Waters had was later diagnosed as Hepatitis. The guitar solo by David Gilmour is considered as one of his finest, and one of the greatest ever. To really get the full impact watch the movie "The Wall", or at least the video clip from it.

Pink Floyd is an amazing band, and David Gilmore "Sings" through his guitar as well as he does through the microphone. His phrasing in his solos, literally sings to you. I was fortunate enough to get to see this tour in 1994 and I can easily say that it was the best sound of any concert I have ever been to. I am glad to see it touched you and that you enjoyed it so much. I highly recommend listening to the entire "Wish You Were Here" album with headphones on, while relaxing in your bed. I think you will find it an un-comparably relaxing experience.

Ok, now you've done it. You've gone down the rabbit hole that is the Pink Floyd pulse concert. As a vocalists you will really enjoy this one...."the great gig in the sky" from the same concert. This is where the backing vocalists take the lead and really let rip. This will blow your mind. A quick synopsis on the song that has no words. Originally sung by Claire Tory who was only 19 at the time and only told the subject of the music and to go in and just improvise. She did it in one take. In the concert version the vocalist take turns singing the parts which to me gives it 3 different textures. It's about a woman who is dying and the different emotions she goes through. Fear, anger, acceptance and peace. I was at this concert when I was 45 years old and this broke me. Floods of tears and had to pick the girl next to me off the floor because she was overcome with emotion. A truly unforgettable experience, and that's what Floyd is. It's not a concert, it's an awakening of spirit and mind that stimulates all the senses to the point of overload. Enjoy.

Gilmore turned Comfortably Numb into a tribute to Roger Waters, not that Roger ever appreciated it. Suffice it to say, you just listened to the most masterful live guitar solo ever recorded. There are many amazing live guitar solos (I can give you 10 from Frank Zappa alone), but this solo is so well calculated and executed it deserves its own place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It's a masterwork. Thanks for your insight on the lyrics. Not many reactors go into such depths. You rock!

Yeah, well, for the record, there are some very excellent Roger Waters live shows out there, like the In the Flesh tour, which you might want to check out some time. For some reason, when it comes to reaction requests, most people request the same post-Waters Floyd videos over and over - I suspect many of them only became Floyd fans over the last couple of albums, so this IS Floyd for them. I like both, for the record, so I don't need any Gilmore fans trying to argue with me that he IS Floyd or whatever. ;)

How wonderful it is to see a lovely young lady of 19 learning Opera, I'd like to wish you all the best in achieving all your dreams! Pink Floyd is Legendary, they are on another level all together! The band was formed in London in 1964, they've sold hundreds of millions of albums worldwide! One of the true GOATS of rock music, (Progressive Rock is their sub-genre). Pink Floyds' lead vocalist and guitarist. David Gilmour, is an absolute legend, his is known for his emotion filled, incredibly moving guitar solos! Like the band, Gilmour is one of the GOATS Rock guitarist. He not flashy either, he doesn't jump up and down, and run around the stage like some Rock guitarist, and he doesn't wear crazy outfits when performing. As you can see here, he's wearing jeans and a T shirt! LOL!

Spine tingling guitar solo. David Gilmour at his best. Comfortably Numb is about a burnt out rock star whose given drugs to get him through the show. The opening "Hello! Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me!" is the doctor talking to him. It was rumoured that it was a reference to founder member Syd Barrett? Chilling stuff. The person that the song Wish You Were Here is about. You should listen to Pink Floyd's Epic song Echoes on the 1971 album Meddle. Echoes takes up half of the albums length, at just over 23 minutes.

This song has two of the most iconic guitar solos in the history of rock music. David Gilmour is a legendary guitarist and vocalist, he sings through his guitar and says so much with just a few notes. Saw them 4 times, twice with Waters in 75 & 77 and then after he left, in 87 & 94. They were equally as good and mind blowing, but with a different, incredible set each time. In 75 the 1st set was stuff they were working on for Wish You Were Here and Animals, the standout was an early Shine On. The 2nd set was all of Dark Side of the Moon, followed by an encore of Echoes. First time for Floyd was the best trip I ever had! 😏 In 77 they opened with all of Animals with David Gilmour ripping on a telecaster guitar. The second set was Wish You Were Here in its entirety. They encored with a medley from Dark Side... Both Boston Garden shows have audio evidence available on You Tube and well worth checking out. 87 saw Gilmour firmly in charge, doing a set mainly of the new Momentary Lapse of Reason which really brought that album to life with great visuals, then a 2nd set that was a mix of familiar Floyd classic tunes. They were back and seemed they needed to prove it was still them, mission accomplished. Lastly in 1994, it was the tour you just got a glimpse of them at their peak on the Pulse Tour, a fine mix of new and old for the first set, followed by the entire Dark Side of the Moon. They finished with a similar scene to what you just saw and lastly did You'd Better Run. Fantastic show in Foxboro MA. I also saw David Gilmour for 2 Saturday nights in a row in the mid 1980s for a solo tour he did with Mick Ralphs from Bad Company on 2nd guitar. Fantastic show, he did his fine song, Murder, then Comfortably Numb as the encore, you can see that tour on You Tube as well. Lastly, saw Roger Waters 4 times solo, first time he went out with Eric Clapton on lead guitar, was way cool hearing Eric take a swing at old Floyd classics, this was the Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking tour which was the 2nd set. I also saw him do a greatest hits tour, another tour centered on a great take of Dark Side of the Moon and last time was when he brought The Wall out for a massive tour, one of the highest grossing of all time. We were in a large arena and the stage was gigantic, they had new, modern visuals projected onto the Wall once it was fully built, you can see video of that tour and it is very much a must see. Pink Floyd has been a lifelong love affair for me, I first heard them on the experimental Ummagumma in 1969 and have been hooked ever since. Not many artists have multiple, large tribute bands touring the globe as everyone still wants to hear their music. As I say, if you are not a Pink Floyd fan, you will be if you listen to any of their 70s classic albums. Glad to see you starting your Pink Floyd journey, it truly is any color you like. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎷🎶

I saw this concert twice, on May 23 and 24, 1994, Montreal Olympic Stadium. My employer (Labatt Breweries of Canada) was the sponsor for the three shows in Montreal, they were offering employees discounted tickets, in addition to a draw of a few dozen tickets. I bought mine for May 23 and I won those (a pair) for May 24. Some people have asked me, "Why are you going to see this show twice, you could easily resell these tickets at a very good price?" When they finally saw the DVD of this show a few years later, they understood why I was there twice.

I saw The Wall-the film on the day of the Regents Park Bomb in 1982 after being evacuated from the Bomb site and saw The Wall and this concert during the Division Bell Tour in 1994 in Earls Court, London but didn't hear the pulse CD and realise it was from London until I saw it on youtube this year....Fanatasic always a pleasure to see people experience it.

David Gilmour is one of those guys that just seems to be able to effortlessly keep his voice in good shape, he's sounded exactly the same for the last 40 years pretty much and it seems to come very naturally to him or he may just be very aware of which keys are comfortable for him and that's what he tends to write in an ultimately it is giving him a longevity. Someone else is probably mentioned it here but that same quality happens to live in his guitar playing as well it is lyrical and seemingly effortless. He just picks up the guitar and sings Through It. One thing many people don't know is that he sort of helped discover Kate Bush when she was about 17 he produced her first album

This was the culmination of Pink Floyd's "Division Bell" tour when they sold out the Earl's Court arena (capacity 10,750) for fourteen nights between the 13th and 29th of October (the original first night [12th October] was repeated on what was to have been a rest day [17th October] due to a seating collapse on the 12th). I may be a little biased because I attended the same college as David Gilmour and was in attendance that night, the 20th October - I took a half-day off work as I missed out on weekend tickets and had to go on the second Thursday, which turned out to be the one they filmed for the PULSE DD release (2nd tier, a few rows back, stage right facing the sound and lighting desk) but the closing solo is the greatest guitar solo of all time. There are many great guitarists who can walk on stage, plug their guitar into a pedal board and amplifier, and deliver an excellent performance, be it on the high speed or great tone of their playing. But David Gilmour walks on stage, plugs his guitar into his heart and your soul, and feeds emotion right from one to the other. At the time it was the highest-grossing tour ever. Only four of the hundred and twelve performances were not totally sold out, and even those weren't far short. I have no idea how many people they played for in the entire tour, but just those fourteen nights at Earl's Court totalled over 273 thousand, and other venues included several Olympic stadia and other huge sports venues more used to Major League Baseball, international soccer matches and NFL games, so probably ten million plus. That huge circular lighting truss that moved right over the heads of the performers weighed fourteen tonnes and carried over 25kw of power. Seeing the whole thing tip over from a back projection screen (which it had been through most of the show) to create that crown over the band was just awesome, and then the glitter ball lit up with 25 super troupers focused on it and our heads almost exploded - and all perfectly choreographed to the music to enhance it and not steal the show. To be honest, the last encore song (This was the second), "Run Like Hell" was an anticlimax, but probably designed that way to let us down gradually from the peak. I was walking on air for weeks!

Love seeing the younger generation appreciate this wonderful music. I’ve been a Pink Floyd fan since 1971, aged 15, when I heard the sensational ‘Echoes’, from the 1971 Album, ‘Meddle’. You clearly enjoyed this version of ‘Comfortably Numb’, so I highly recommend you try this one too. Even if it’s just for your own personal viewing. I was lucky enough to see the ‘One Night Only’ Cinema showing of David Gilmour’s return to the Pompeii Amphitheater, in 2016, with his Band. (Pink Floyd’s previous visit being in 1971, when they were filmed playing ‘Echoes’, in the Centre of the Amphitheater, with no audience). And this version of ‘Comfortably Numb’, from that 2016 Show, is sensational. This time to an audience. And what a light Show this has too. All in the stunning setting of this Roman Amphitheater. David Gilmour, absolutely sensational, aged 70. Incredible. Just my own feelings. Go on, give it a try. You won’t regret it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3mueGp7gt2KjZo 🎶🎸❤️🎸🎶

As a singer you will probably enjoy reacting to The Carpenters. Songs like 'We've Only Just Begun', 'Superstar' and Solitaire. Also - I would recommend you listen to Queen. (Yes, all you boomers reading this comment - of course I'd recommend Queen). Not just Queen's well known songs, but also lesser known like Love of My Life, Brighton Rock, Who Wants To Live Forever and The Show Must Go On. Read the back story to that last one.

Is such a thrill to see the younger generation react to fans like Pink Floyd from the 70s Pink Floyd was always considered way ahead of their time and cutting edge at their time we considered it meditation music, putting the headphones on cranking up the volume, laying back and closing your eyes and see where it takes you. and yet there’s always a message. High hopes And. Sorrow are two other very impressive performances off of the same live performance
