I grew up with this music as well. I was 36 years old at this iconic performance. I'm glad to have lived through those times when artists could still take their time for breathtaking, lyrical perfection. Unfortunately, the business and its output are now increasingly resembling a fast food restaurant.

The whole PULSE concert is absolutely incredible. This solo from Comfortably Numb is consistently ranked in many polls as the greatest live guitar solo of all time. Nobody does such emotional solos like David Gilmour. You should also react to the song "Sorrow" from the PULSE concerts for another phenomenal and mind blowing guitar solo.

I was one of those lucky people with 20,000 others who attended this concert at Earls Court in London.(Unfortunately this venue is no longer there) As you see it was a fabulous concert and one of the best I have seen, (I am 72 now) At the end people on exiting were just quiet and couldn't really believe what they had just witnessed! You must get the Pulse video then you can watch the whole concert and enjoy it as we all did who saw it live. So good to see a young person from a completely different generation enjoying this wonderful spectacle. This music will last for ever!

Unlike a lot of artists and bands who perform live to highlight their personalities and egos, Pink Floyd's intention was to create an experience. An experience of sound and light and spirit and emotion where the band members are a piece of this magnificent puzzle... not the reason for it. They succeed at that mission to the point that, if you were lucky to attend one or more of these shows, when it ends you feel like you are emerging from a dream. From some other place where sound and light and spirit and emotion merge.

Very true. I have to add that even with less lights, the last Gilmour's solo tour has been able to raise the same emotions. I cried tears on High Hopes. I've attended the gig in Circo Massimo in Rome I think it was in 2016. Of course I've been at all the Pink Floyd tours since 1985 at least once, plus Waters' The Wall. Also that was highly emotional, even missing Sir David on Comfortably Numb. He had Snowy White who is a great guitarist, but Gilmour is on another plan of existence.

Some bands fail to capture their magic in the studio, but absolutely kill it live. Some bands create great albums, but live they just don't have it. Pink Floyd's albums are miles ahead of most band's, and are true works of art. And then somehow their live show is still miles ahead of their albums. And all of those miles are straight up to the heavens. Unbelievable execution by this Gilmour-led group.

I heard my first Pink Floyd song on Christmas Eve 1968. I was 11 years old and the song was, " A Saucerful of Secrets," followed by. "Jugband Blues." Sal was the guy that turned our "Vadio" on to Floyd. Sal ran into Roger Waters coming down the stairs at the Whisky a go-go, in Hollywood in 1968. In their conversation, Sal asked. "What happened to Syd Barrett? Did he quiet?" Roger Waters, replied. "Sid went silly!"... True story.

Saw the show at Soldier Field in Chicago that summer. The video is great, but imagine it at about a million decibels and 360° surround sound all around the stadium. As if the stage lighting and blinding ball of light at the center of the stadium wasn't enough, throw in some mother nature lighting in the form of lightning⚡ in the skies above, and you pretty much have an out-of-body experience. This was one for the ages.

Best explanation I've heard for the "chills" is that your soul has found it's musical match. The music's vibrational frequency has found a MATCH with your own frequency and when the two meet, you get chills because what's internal and innate to you is now literally vibrating IN HARMONY with something that is external and that's powerful stuff.

Not every band can pull it off live. And not very many live recordings are as clean as the studio versions, which are usually perfectly polished. But when you can find a live version of a song that is well recorded, and played by a band capable of reproducing their songs live, you can't beat it. I love the energy of live performances. I love seeing the band doing their thing. And then you have Floyd, who has got all of that, and then also brings heaven down to earth with their stage show. This is the ultimate live show right here. None can top it.

Pink Floyd, and especially Gilmour, were famous for the incredibly long riffing solos. Gilmour himself has said that it's great fun but can't imagine what its like to watch it. As others have said, the Pulse concert is Floyd at their performance peak. Gilmour's voice just keeps getting better. His voice on his solo albums "On an Island" and "Rattle that Lock" is like silk wrapped caramel. I'd highly recommend watching the Live from Gdańsk concert (and the documentary that goes with it)

Thank you Silas, good to see that you are 'charged!' Even though there are some good releases these days (yes subjective I know), this music is from the period of the pioneers of great sounds; technically advanced, futuristic, complex orchestration and prescient with their lyrics. I'm so glad new generations are still able to appreciate and enjoy....

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

Would you believe that this wasn't even the finale of this show? Run Like Hell followed. But literally the entire show from start to finish is amazing. I didn't attend this particular show but saw them a few months earlier in Los Angeles. It was at the Rose Bowl with probably 90,000 people. We had tickets on the field in front of the stage. There was a large covered thing in the middle of the field, literally right next to us. We figured it was electrical equipment for the show. But during that second solo, the disco ball rose up out of it (instead of down from the ceiling like in this performance). Imagine the spectacle of this video (in an indoor venue with around 20,000 people) in an outdoor stadium with 5 times that many people, and the disco ball lights shining on every single one of them. When it opened up into the lotus flower or whatever it's supposed to be, I literally started crying. The most incredible moment of my life. For comparison, you should check out David Gilmour's performance of this in Pompeii in 2016. He's way older but I actually think that solo is somehow better. Anyway I think they performed this in the same venue (Earl's Court London) for 14 consecutive nights! All sold out. Sadly it was demolished a few years ago.

I was there. It was pouring down on the way back to Harrow. I was 23. 51 now; and that is still the best night of my life (with clothes on). Big love from Spain

This concert was held at Earls Court over two weeks. Each performance was sold out although they had to cancel one performance as the scaffolding holding seats at the back collasped. I went on the middle Saturday and had a seat roughly in the middle of the stage about 10 rows back. The whole concert was mind blowing. The sound, the lights and lasers together with rats, planes and a disco ball lol! You needed to see this concert twice to take everything in. I still remember everything about that night ...... I am now 70 lol! These things are great to remember as I sit in my bath chair ....... Pink Floyd the best band ever.

I remember telling my dad about this after I returned to Seattle from Vancouver BC where I saw this. How the circle of lights behind the stage went from vertical to horizontal, and then bam the disco ball came out and the whole stadium was covered in tiny moving lights... it was fucking amazing...

Back then, we went to concerts, there were no cell phones. It was about the music and each other. Not that cell phones aren't great, but I miss those days of not having them at concerts. A whole different vibe. Fantastic reaction to this awesome performance by Pink Floyd. Thanks!

JAJAJAJAJAJ Que gracioso eres Silas. Gracias Silas.

The final solo is amazing in that it can make your heart pound without an iota of change in the tempo or the key.

I was at the Foxboro MA show, night 2 of a 4 night series of sold out shows at Gillette Stadium. This was in 1994. The Pulse video doesn't do the show justice if you saw it live. I've never seen or has seen now any concert like this one. The experience of the show was amazing. I remember walking back to the car after and we were all saying, "What the hell did we just see!!!!" It was that mind blowing. I remember the field was a little foggy from it being overcast and that made the lights reflect even better. David Gilmore even commented how mother nature wanted to help with the show between songs.

40+ years a huge fan of Pink Floyd. Saw them once at London pulse 94. Stayed at the Radisson Edwardian 5 star hotel at Heathrow. Stretch limo to the gig, cars moving out the way through London for us. Earls court gates open for us, our chauffeur opens the limo door & we are ushered in by security all holding hands to form a chain for us. Was first in the arena. I've seen Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, Rush & many other great groups live but Pink Floyd pulse was the greatest for me & that gig, a real night to remember!! 🇬🇧

google this solo-performance: the long solo of this performance of the song (pulse) is widely considered the greatest rockguitar solo of all time. my personal opinion doesn´t matter but i´m 60 years old and having listened to rockmusic for about 50 years, for me personally it is.

In my view, this performance has never been bettered, superb. They did 4 nights at this venue, all sold out. BTW the blonde backing singer is Sam Brown, daughter of Legend Joe Brown…..she had a few hits herself in the late 80’s.
