Saw this show in Dallas, TX in a stadium with an open top over the field. There is a rectangular hole in the middle basically. It stormed during the show. Imagine rain coming in and the lasers going through that. There was in fact a tornado nearby during the show but for safety reasons they did not alert the fans or there might have been a stampede. We did not know until afterward. (No cell phones then).

9:19 That “wailing,” if I can call it that, that Gilmour does with his guitar gets me every single time. The entire song is overrun with emotions and the 2nd solo completely envelops the heart . . . but that final wail, that final crying out, is the moment my heart is pierced. Every time. First time I heard it? - 1994. I was one of the lucky ones to be at the concert. More than ever I understand that. Gilmour is statesman of epic musicianship. Just gorgeous, heartfelt musical landscapes. And this is made more truthful by its timelessness. By the looks of it on KZbin Pink Floyd as a whole is going through another Renaissance with yet another generation.

I first bought Dark Side of the Moon in 1973 at age 18. I listened to the LP so much you could practically see through it. I had to buy a second copy less than a year later, even as a constantly broke college student. Bought every album thereafter. Fast forward 20+ years. I bought the High Def. DVD of Pulse concert. Now I could afford nice equipment, but when Comfortably Numb ( from the LP "The Wall" ) was played as an encore performance, I blew a speaker on my not so cheap stereo system during Gilmore's guitar solo. You are very astute to notice Gilmore's growth. I am now 68, and react to this music in a more profound way than when I was younger, but ALWAYS recognized it as out of this world. Your post captured my attention, but it was both of your reactions to this masterpiece that so impressed me. You two are so young to "get it" at the level you do. I'm now a subscribed fan. Long may you run.

This guitar solo is historical! That was phenomenal and so emotional, that was just splendid and extremely powerful! I was there that specific day, I was really young. After the concert, we were walking in silence, thinking about this phenomenal concert, looking at the stage sometimes just to remember this moment forever before we leave for good. I also remember the smell of joints, especially in front of the stage (yes, that was, of course, forbidden, but ... Pink Floyd is Pink Floyd, right? Some people couldn't resist!). Now, when I listen to this guitar solo, I always remember that the sound was everywhere around us: spectacular, massive, imposing, powerful, but also perfectly clean! It was so impressive and so imposing. Like: the massive, colossal, powerful, and majestic Pink Floyd machine directly connected to your soul! And I can tell you that we were all vibrating. 90% of the time, during a concert, people are talking, laughing, and having good times; but during this concert, everybody was literally speechless. No stupid or annoying people. Everybody was just "connected". It was like, being in a parallel universe where everything was completely different. That was phenomenal and special, almost "magic" so to speak. And so many people were there, something like 16,300 people. I kept the tickets by the way, hehe - And today, I'm still proud to say _"I WAS THERE, WITH PINK FLOYD THAT DAY!"_

The lighting guy you're talking about that ought to get credit his name is Mark Brickman. David Gilmour and Rick Wright basically gave him a blank check to do the lighting and ask him" why don't you see what you can come up with". And on this one song you can see some of the results! I've seeing Pink Floyd four times. Twice in the 1970s once in 87 and this concert in 94. I've gone to at least a hundred concerts and seen everyone from ACDC to Zeppelin and I've never seen a better show than Pink Floyd puts on! Anyway the lighting Engineers name is Mark Brickman... the thing that's different about Pink Floyd is they put on a show regarding their music. Most of the other groups put on a show with the thought of "look at me, look at me" look what I can do, "more narcissistic". Nobody hardly even knew what anyone in Pink Floyd looked like until the 90s. David Gilmour said in an interview it was nice to be able to take his family to the mall and nobody would bother him or his family because nobody knew who he was!!! Note that none of their pictures are on any of their albums except the very first one!

Saw the live in Earls Court London during the Pulse tour.. emotional doesn’t even begin to describe how I felt after that song .. I think everyone was crying after that song! So lucky to have been there and send it live.. big shout to Sam Brown on backing vocals.. she has a great voice😊

Still gives me goosebumps and makes me cry with overwhelming emotion all these years later..I never saw them live, and it's my biggest regret. Apparently, people went home after this performance and couldn't speak for hours, so I understand completely your reaction. It's mine too..

Happy Birthday George, a great present to listen to this, to call it a solo is not doing it justice, it was a total out of body experience, I never tire of hearing this, David Gilmour is a master if suspense the way he build this solo to the other worldy crescendo is just unmatched by anything I have ever heard. Love your honesty dudes

Beautiful reaction!! Only just heard this version this year also and I had the same reaction - STUNNED! That solo is pure storytelling.

Every time I hear this song and Gilmore's solo the emotion he projects from his playing makes me cry . He may not be the most technical ....but boy ! He makes that guitar weep and soar like no other. Love your reactions , ' Shine on you two ' ⭐

When people rate guitarists according to their technical prowesses, I ask: What do you prefer - someone telling you "I love you" 1000 times in rapid succession or someone telling you "I love you" once in such a way that you shiver all the way down to the tips of your toes?

Welcome to the club boys...ya just got pinked. The Floyd and Gilmour's mastery of the guitar will reach down into the depths of your soul and take it on an universal journey to places you've never felt or known before only to gently bring you back. Enjoyed watching your reaction. IO grew up as a teen listening to Pink Floyd and its nice to see you youngsters listening to 'em...it gives perspective...

How did I Miss this reaction video ! Love this whole album the (Wall ) became my go to album to listen to ever nite as a teen girl in the 80s I related to so many songs in that album .. another Great reaction Guys !

This is generally regarded as the best recorded version (but there are bootlegs from the same Division Bell Tour that are even better). The live version from Gilmour's 2016 Pompeii concert is a very close second. Highly recommended. At age 70, he's still got it.

GREAT reaction, guys. Thank you for noticing the mirror ball/flower, too. SO many people don't even seem to notice that. I, too, love how this solo takes us for a ride.

Fantastic reaction/review gents, you managed to capture exactly how I feel whenever I hear it. I was at one of those Division Bell (PULSE) shows at Earls Court (London) in ‘94. It was very special indeed.

Saw this live.. 27 years ago, July 1st 1994. Mind Blowing concert. (Fun Fact- This was the first concert to have lights that could individually change colour!)

Great reaction fellas! Enjoying the channel a lot. Love to see two friends enjoying my favorite band. I was at this tour when it came to Atlanta in 94. Skipped school my senior year and drove 4 hours to see it with some friends. Nothing has ever come remotely close to that experience. It was perfect.

One of Pink Floyd’s best,David Gilmour has only gotten better with time if that is even possible. I have been listening to them over 50 years,and it never gets old,it is timeless and will always be as great as when released.Todays music will never stand the test of time,most is a short memory at best.😎

What a great way to end a fantastic show. But it's not really over yet, there is the encore part. Most of the shows ended with the following two songs: (Hey You) and (Run Like Hell). Even if you don't know it, you really NEED to see (Run Like Hell), from the same show.

You have to see David Gilmour Live in Gdansk where David and Rick Wright battle it out in Echoes. It was Rick's last concert as Cancer took him from us. It is EPIC!!!
@Pulsar774 жыл бұрын
Personally, I like the Echoes version from Remember That Night (from the same tour) more. It sounds a bit tighter and has better acoustics and visuals compared to Gdansk.
@flake11014 жыл бұрын
That's why I like the Gdansk version, for its rawness. Everybody's has a favorite, studio, Pompeii and so on. Doesn't matter, it's Floyd.

@@Pulsar77 I'm the exact same bud, the Albert Hall performance blew me away. Both the performance & the light show. Especially the part when it slows right down to when it's just like the sound of the wind blowing, before part 2 starts kicking in. All the mist starts to rise between the band & all the lights start having a strobe effect, almost like time is slowing right down. Trippy AF!
@fadifarha4314 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Gdansk version of echoes beats any other version hands down, especially the beginning, the middle and the end

Saw them in 87 in Atlanta. Still makes my hair stand up and gives me chills to this day. It is a religious experience for sure. Get a black light, a dark room with no distractions, and the Wall and listen to it from start to finish with your eyes closed, 80's style, lol.
