I'll be doing a similar computer-1 build this week but with a 5700G and no GPU. Waiting for the 3060 mini cards to be readily available and reasonably priced. Excited to see the results.

If anybody's curious, the parts list (just using Amazon links given) comes out to $3,800.62. Super cool build.

I got the GPU here from an eBay seller in Japan for just under $800 (instead of $2000+). I'm in Sweden and had to pay about $200 to customs. But that knocks a lot off the total price.

Love the build! I want to try to recreate this with a 5900x, a single fan PNY 3060 (aero seems to be more $$$), and an extra fan like distreal suggests. This pc is a dream if I can get it all to work :)

Doing a build very similar to this in February. Gathering parts now. 5600x processor, platinum PSU, a “be quiet” low profile cooler, slightly different storage (WD). All other components are the same (blackout case fan though from noctua though). Got the GPU from Japan eBay. Interested to hear about the volume so I can get it fixed proactively.

Wondering if you had the same issue with your Be Quiet! Shadowrock LP cooler. I had to install it backwards to the fit the profile of the case and remove a plastic cover piece on the Strix B550-I motherboard.
@NateHurwitzBikes
@NateHurwitzBikes 2 жыл бұрын
@@griffinjones6491 yeah. Exact same issue. I actually went with the included cooler in the 5600x since I didn’t want to mess with my motherboard. I ended up returning the be-quiet cooler.

Probably the best build for this case, although I think I might go with a 3600 or 5600X
@gogogoligorsky

Thanks! Yeah, I went with the 5800x because it balanced good thermals, pricepoint, and benchmark performance for Blender.

how does the fact that the intake fan is blowing directly onto the flat top of the cpu cooler affect airflow? would it be better to go with a top-down cooler?

I finally got the graphics cards thanks to a friend who was visiting Japan. It failed after less than a month of use and now MSI won't warranty it for repair or replacement. MSI NA says the card is region locked and they can't do a repair, and MSI Japan says all warranties must go through the distributor so unless I can somehow get to BIC Camera in Japan I have just lost $600 on this card. Buyer beware, MSI may be international but there products apparently are not.

Can I ask if you have gamed on the GPU yet? I am wondering if it is noisy or not. Rad build, I am loving this Orange case.

I use the PC for 3D rendering, not gaming, so can't help you there. When rendering animations, the fans are definitely going for it, but I don't know if I'd classify as noisy.

Hey super cool build! Im currently building my own and would get my hands on asus rtx 3060 phoenix. The case says its capable to fit 40mm thick card, aero is 43mm, phoenix would be 51mm. Any idea if that could still fit? Big thanks for any help!
@siddadood

Same question. I think the asus is too big. Pny may be the move….but then you have a Pny card lol. I’m curious on thermals. It has one choked exhaust fan
@gogogoligorsky
@gogogoligorsky 2 жыл бұрын
Ah, I think it'd be a really tight fit... doubt there'd be much of any space between the GPU fan and the top of the case... maaaybe a couple mm.
@siddadood
@siddadood 2 жыл бұрын
i think i may try the asus over an aero card. i will let you know in a month what i do. remember the case is bendable lol so ill force to make it fit. If i dont end up going with asus 3060, im going zotac 1660 s or ti thats my other option cause it fits perfect. im not paying $780-900 for a 3060 aero. thats the only prices i see for aero. phoenix is better priced at around $6-700. I will keep you posted and may post a video myself

Bought the asus pheonix 3060 thinking that it would be small enough for this case. I don't know if I'd say it fit. I'm able to get the top of the case back on without any of the panels bending from the card's thickness. The fan is right up against the top which presented a problem for me. I can't get the fan speed below 30% at idle, which causes whistling due to the holes at the top of the case. I thought the card was the issue until I took the top of the case off to troubleshoot and found that the noise was far more tolerable. If I could find any other itx 3060/ti card at the price that I got the asus one for then I would skip the asus altogether. At the moment I keep the top off and named my build Teenage Catastrophe.

is there any clearance issue on the intake fan when using the Noctua NH-D9L? Thanks
@distreall
@distreall 2 жыл бұрын
Nice, I made quite a similar build but with 5900x and 3060 Ti Aero :D Unfortunately, I used Noctua NH-L9x65, so it needs to work in eco mode. Is it a tight fit with NH-D9L? I'm a bit afraid that if it's too close to the case fan, it won't be pushing fresh air to the GPU card bottom. Also, I highly recommend sticking additional NF-A9x14 to the back, as close to GPU as you can. If you set it up to push air from the case, it helps to drop down the temperature inside. :)
@gogogoligorsky
@gogogoligorsky 2 жыл бұрын
The NH-D9L fits no problem, but I don't think anything bigger will fit. Good suggestion on adding another case fan. For my use case (rendering) I haven't been running into thermal issues, but I'll definitely consider adding a fan anyway.
@Dinsorsoos
@Dinsorsoos 2 жыл бұрын
What exactly do you mean by adding a fan close to the GPU? Do you mean mount to the side of the CPU cooler?
@baominhle3736
@baominhle3736 2 жыл бұрын
as there is only one case fan mount, where would you install the second one?
@distreall
@distreall 2 жыл бұрын
@@baominhle3736 I've installed two fans (92mm and 60mm) to the back grill of the case. I've used doublesided mounting tape to check temeperatures before drilling bigger holes for screws, but eventually left it with the tape and it holds really good.

What’s the clearance like between the 80mm fan and the CPU cooler? Does the max 120mm specification seem about right? And does it seem to be taking into account the width of the 80mm fan?
@gogogoligorsky
@gogogoligorsky 2 жыл бұрын
The 120mm specification seems right. That's what I used to pick the Noctua NH-D9L for cooling the CPU. It looks to be about 10-15mm between that CPU cooling tower and the case fan. In my build, there are cables running in that gap though, so you'd need to do nice cable management if you were trying to make use of that little gap.
@Dinsorsoos
@Dinsorsoos 2 жыл бұрын
@@gogogoligorsky okay thanks for the info. I’m wondering how much air is able to move through that gap and around to the sides of the heatsink, since the intake fan is in the unusual position of blowing onto the flat top of the cooler. A top down cooler seems like it would be better for the position of the intake, but doesn’t have the advantage of the sideways cooler blowing in the direction of the exhaust.
@gogogoligorsky
@gogogoligorsky 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dinsorsoos Yeah, all good points. For my use case (3D rendering) the thermals haven't been a problem. I'm happy with my build, and also certain that someone like you would find a more effective cooling solution! Looks like more people are getting this case, so it'll be cool to see what they build.
@Dinsorsoos

I built this primarily for 3D rendering using Blender, so I don't have a need for long sustained heavy thermal load. The performance is *way* better than the MacBook Pro I was using, and I haven't had any trouble with thermals. Though I don't have any specific numbers for you at full load.

There wasn't a mounting bolt included with the GPU (or the case.) I had a zip tie handy and that's been perfectly fine. Maybe I'll dig around and see if I have a little bolt to use.
