i bought them for the fact they are compact but they won my heart when me and my brother wanted to watch a show at a public place at night, he connected his none-teenage-engineering headset into my M-1s, and it worked flawlessly.

i'm a big fan of these. for me the m1 is a small practical headphone excellent for phone calls, facetime, and zoom meetings. a lot better than earbuds or ambient laptop mics. i also occasionally use them in a pinch for doodling, sampling etc. surprisingly pretty well built for such a dainty headphone. i'm pretty sure these were a collaboration with aiaia.

I like these headphones because they sound good, are comfortable, look good, the cable is straight, the microphone is detachable, it also has an inbuilt microphone, and it’s perfectly fine for mixing and mastering as long as you also check your mixes on other speakers and headphones also, which you should be doing anyway. It’s a designer item at a reasonable price.

lol what a fking coincidence. i was looking into teenage engineering products for a couple months now. kind of sucking all videos up about all their products. i ordered a po-33 and i'm super happy with it! i was just wondering about the m-1 headphone quality last evening, since i couldn't find much information about it. thank you for this nice review!

I randomly bought the M-1s a few weeks back still waiting for them to be shipped. Stoked to mess with it and the OP-Z together but not expecting much in terms of sound quality. Awesome vid. Torn between saving up for a TX-6 or an OP-1 Field. Definitely gonna own one of those someday. The OP-Z might be enough for me. Currently craving a proper analog synth tho so might save for a Polybrute instead. Do you have have any recommendations on a midi controller to use with the OP-Z? Arturia seems prettier but the MPK mini plus seems enticing. Sorry for writing so much 😅 Awesome vid again, stoked to eventually receive mine.

I could see them working well in scenarios such as performing pop vocals live on stage, or if you're streaming on, say Twitch for example... I don't see how it could be the most practical for recording vocals, but they definitely can't be the worst and thankfully they are affordable. I just think the mic on these cans looks silly. 😂

Funnily I find TE's cheaper products the PO33 specifically, to be really impressive especially for the price. But they have some other things I would snag if I was more wealthy haha. The TP-7 Specifically, I'm trying to snipe a SC500, similar but not the same, but a lot cheaper, and never in stock :(.

@@wxves_the_mixer Sounds right. I binge YT on 2x and I hit the pop-up for this video when it landed. I watched the whole video .. and just like some of the comments here, some key points were a focus on aesthetics (which I don’t think are good, but that’s subjective; lightweight, maybe - they appear to be …), sound quality (not great, from all accounts) … with some additional feedback in the comments about breakability/non-durability (even this video said, in not-as-many-words, that you have to ‘coddle’ them somewhat). Imho, you’d be better off putting the money towards a good set of headphones, with better sound and durability. That’s not hate; just an honest, non-shill opinion. But, hey - you do you. Hipsters gonna hipster. 💸

@@XanderEwald Yeah, people who want to look like musicians without actually having anything to do with music. It’s our generation’s version of the “guy with a guitar” who just learned Wonderwall to pick up girls, but complains that the coolest looking guitars cost so much, having no concept of the features and reasons behind the cost. Social media made the audience for those kinds of people explode. You can only half blame TE for kinda sorta playing into the whole “image” as part of their marketing strategy.
