Duuuuude I LOVE the "Mirage Chord" trick! I have an OP-1 and I like to do something similar. I'll fill the Tambola with as many notes from one chord as I can too, but then I'll open the Tambola to let the notes out slowly. I replace the notes with notes from other chords, kind of like your example, but eventually the new notes replace all the old ones. It's like stochastic Steve Reich. Great tip!!
@CyberattackWorld Жыл бұрын
that's awesome. the one thing about doing this on the OP-1 is that I always wish I could hit chord changes faster. I did find a way to do that on the Octatrack though, it's pro-tip #5 in my video about that one if you want to check it out. stochastic steve reich is really good

Thanks for the comment. I bought mine a couple years ago and it hasn't needed mechanical repairs in that time. It's crashed once or twice, but I've been able to fix it by doing a factory reset. But I also started backing up my presets more.

Love the early morning release! I’ve been interested in the OP-1 for a while now. Seems like an awesome machine despite being on the pricier side. I’m assuming you’d say it’s worth it, no? Now there’s the added decision of whether the OP-1 or OP-1 Field has a better benefit-to-cost value.
@CyberattackWorld2 жыл бұрын
I definitely think it’s worth it, although I bought mine used (for a little under $1,000). The new thing definitely complicates the decision though.

Very cool. I like how the glissando chord example is like Mr. Crowley but in the Tron arcade game from the 80s. Why are you in Europe? If being called Mr. Cyberattack weirds you out a bit, you might consider introducing yourself by name at the beginning of each video.

I think the blue knob on the delay adjust the length of the slice that gets repeated. The green knob controls how fast those slices get repeated. The grid delay has a similar thing going with X/Y. My OP-1 is broken so I can't confirm...

Thank you for your tips, I just got my OP-1 Field and I'm having a lot of fun. How do you make your sounds sound so "full"? I'm trying to copy your mirage song to "train" but my version sounds kinda flat, like no depth.
@CyberattackWorld11 ай бұрын
Part of it is probably that I was running my OP-1 into the Strymon Deco, set to give everything a stereo slap-back echo and a touch of tape saturation. If you don't have the Deco that's ok, just try running your OP-1 into a nice stereo reverb--that should add a lot of depth. You can also try turning up the global drive parameter in the OP-1s overall mix settings, which will give it some extra sizzle. But adding some kind of stereo echo or reverb will probably make a big difference.

I love gear and using instruments, but actually composing a song is hard for me. Can you explain how you came up with the chords of the first bit crusher song? The chords alone seem to tell a little story already?
@CyberattackWorld2 жыл бұрын
man I WISH i could take credit for those chords, but I was only copying them from this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3TKq6KEasqFms0 however, if you look at the Ask Me Anything videos that are also on my KZbin channel, I spend a LOT of time in those answering questions just like yours-about inspiration, where creativity comes from, and the songwriting process. you might find some of those useful, hope that helps

Some of the drum sounds are samples I made or got from outside the OP-1, and maybe a couple of the background synth pads are sounds I've dialed in using GarageBand MIDI synths, but I would say it's 85% OP-1
