TIL you can drop tracks into the sampler which makes things a lot more interesting. I wish the op1 field had an extensive manual like the op-xy instead of that pamphlet of a user guide.

Slightly related and unrelated but only the online manual is actually informative and has more info. The pamphlet isn't as deep but it's not cryptic like the op1f mini or online manual.

Online manual is great for sure! Also lots of creators on KZbin have made dope tutorials on the op1. Def check out Son Wu - he has a whole op1 field playlist that’s wonderful!

'Preciate the video! ✌🏿 As somebody who currently owns neither, I was originally eyeing the 1F as a "travel studio", but now that the XY has released, for the type of music I make, it seems like the better choice. I feel for anyone who bought a 1F before the XY dropped though. 😹😅

Hi, I bought the OP-1 field 3-5 months ago and I do really like it. It's my first instrument. I've tried other more classic instruments but always found them "boring" after a longer time which stopped me from progressing. The OP-1 Field is plenty of fun and it kept me coming back to it on daily basis. I also started learning some basic music theory just to have a better idea of how to make stuff sound good. At the beginning I was doing everything purely off of my hearing. I work as a programmer so the workflow of OP-XY really speaks to me. My question is if the OP-1 Field with the OP-XY make for a great duo? What are the biggest benefits of owning both? I am asking as it crossed my head to sell the OP-1 Field to get the OP-XY but then I really don't want to sell the OP-1 Field if they would work great together. What advice would you give me? :)

You def can have em work together! For example, you can control the op1-field with the op-XY via midi which will let you step sequence the op1 field. You can also sync up the tape with the op1, so they both play together. At the same time you can sample a beat from the opxy to the field, slice it up, arrange it on the tape, then re-sample it back on the op-xy. All in all the machines play well together, so if you can afford it there are lots of ways to use the machines together creatively!

Are you planning on releasing any videos on the op-1 field in near future? I would love to hear some tips from audio design perspective :)

I love the field. Not as versatile as my mpc live 2, but it boots up instantly, is tiny and has a battery life so insane I don’t know how they did it. I have an op-z, but the xy looks gnarly. Too expensive though, for right now.

I’d say they’re both daws in a box and instruments. XY is just step sequencer based and OP1 is audio recording based
