They are adults at 16 which makes things much harder for them. There is a difference. Even though many teens here cannot get jobs or work decent hours to sustain a healthy income in order to pay for the costs of living at 16 because labor laws, we also are not treated as adults at 16 which when it comes to the legal system that makes a huge difference for kids who have multiple instances of crime on their records before the age of 18. It's also rare to find a young single mom with no income to be rejected for benefits or aka here in the U.S food stamps and welfare. But since the rise of inflation that has changed greatly since now the system is being flooded with people signing up for these programs and now its getting harder to be approved for help than it was 10 years ago.

I thought I was watching Daisy's sisters from downtown Abbey. I swear there must be a lower class gene that's passed down. Education is free in the UK plus NHS yet still live and speak like in a Dickens novel. It's the same here in Canada only its much easier here to live.send them to america my parents home for a year in the former colony. They would be crying.

A "charity" got her a position where she works 30 hours and makes the same as the dole? Sounds like a slave labour scam.

Not sure when this was filmed but it's like a trip back 30+ years ago in terms of attitude. In Australia the teenage birthrate is now about 2%, smoking is frowned upon by most and most young people aim much higher in terms of jobs and career. Even our lower socioeconomic communities seem better than these people.

Bridie breached her bail condition to stay away from the street where her friend lives. The neighbours on the street saw her and called the police to arrest her for breaching the conditions of her bail agreement.

Exposing the struggles of poor and working poor as social commentary... important in this age of extreme income disparity is essential as far as I see it.And due to extreme austerity measures, cut backs on social programs, outrageous inflation so that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer makes it more important than ever.

In India they speak better English. At least most have a fully stocked bar and an ample supply of cigarettes.
