the (softcover) Ultimate Editions can still be easily found for much cheaper and with the commentary Omar mentioned. You can get the first three for $20-25 each. Tales of the TMNT Omnibus is about the same price. You lose out on issue #13 and Fugitoid #1 but gain issues 8, 15, 17, 19-21, Tales vol 1 6-7, Tales vol 2 1-8 for the same price as this compendium

I picked this one up and am loving it! I grew up with the 2003 series and the 90's movie, which both drew heavily from this run. A great overview for a great book!

@Jordan Thomas Not sure, maybe 3? It kind of depends on what the layout of each book. There are 62 issues of the original Eastman and Laird run and the 7 tales of the tmnt. In this book, we got just over 20 issues.

@@UltimatePower01 That's where you are wrong, a Marvel HC usually hold 8 to 9 issues. While the IDW HC usually hold from 18 to 20 issues sometimes more. It all depends on the run. I doubt IDW will invest money on putting the HC on Omnibus when the HC are already pretty long and are as tall as the Omnibus.

Great video!, I can wait to get my hands on this, luckily I bought issue #8 many years ago, I also have the alternative issue #8 that Jim Lawson draw. Probably you already know this, but the Compendium vol.2 also will have some issues missing, the Rick Veitch stories (the River trilogy and the one of the Highway, four issues in total). That´s a bummer, but I get Veitch reasons to not allow the printing of his stories.

I def. gonna pick this up, I hope soon... I have all the volume 1 issues, but I live in SouthAmerica and in my country they never publish this comics so I have a complete mess... I have some originals Mirage issues (bought them when they were not as expensive as today), I have some that were published in Argentina (in Spanish), some that were publised in Spain (in Spanish), and some Color Classics from IDW (in English) so, my collection is complete but pretty inconsistent, so it would be great to get and uniform books and in original language and in B&W... I´m guessing it would be 3 volumes of Compendiums, maybe 4, so it would be great.

Cowabunga!!! I love TMNT. They’re so cool! I would love a TMNT animated series based on the IDW comics. Imagine The Last Ronin animated 😍🤩 Also, TMNT definitely deserves a next gen open world video game, developed by either Rocksteady or Insomniac.

While that would be awesome, The Last Ronin is a standalone arc which is separate from the ongoing "main" IDW timeline. However, it looks like there is a new video game adaptation of the story coming out.

Really happy that this is real (though I wish #8 was included and the design work was a little less... minimal)! Some of my favorite issues and arcs (The River, Souls and Masks arcs, Sky Highway) were by guests, so it's great to have an opportunity to collect those outside of singles and long OOP tpbs.

That's a bit better, but usually the Marvel and DC omnis are half that price when they only contain that many issues.

@@JessNukethedangthing not really. The Ultimate Collections and Artist’s Editions are some of the best books ever printed quality and content wise. If IDW can do that for those at a fairer price, I’m sure the company can do the same for this as well.

It's insane to me that someone would release a book missing an issue. At that point, they should have canceled it until they could secure the rights to issue #8. I really wanted to get these, but I can't justify buying an incomplete story, and im surprised there are people who do.

as a kid watching the turtles on T.V I never really thought about it but as an adult I suddenly realize that splinter trained these kids their whole lives to fight a war they have no stake in, its splinters grudge against the foot not the turtles, I still really like them and enjoy reading the turtles stories but I was just wondering how others felt about it.

How do you feel about the tmnt color classics tpb’s? If a comic has a colored release, I need to have that rather than just the black and white version. In the ultimate tmnt collection vol. 1 there was one full page panel that showed the turtles fighting a group of foot clan ninjas and it was kind of hard to make out what was happening in the scene because there was so much going on with only black and white coloring to give it detail. I didn’t read enough of the black and white version to say that it would be a common annoyance (and I doubt it would be) but I just like having the extra detail of color in my comic art.

Each publisher has their own definitions. The actual word in the dictionary has no association with hardcover vs paperback or even with "books" at all, you can have a compendium of anything. Just means a grouping of anything.

When I store my Omnis standing upright on my shelf, sometimes I notice gravity causes the page “brick” to sag and curve. Has this happened to anyone else?

You can flip it upside down every once in a while to balance the sag out

There's a librarians trick to fixing this. You just need to fill the space between text block and the covers so that they are equal just like a soft cover book. Take thick paper/card stock and cut to the same dimensions as the text block and then fold one end until it's the same thickness as the difference between the bottom of the text block and the covers. You'll never have any sagging and the spine will be protected 👍🏻

Hi Omar, new here. Question as a big TMNT fan I never got around to read the old comics. So my question to you is what are the chances IDW reprints the hardcovers of the works color classics, and if they are slim to none would the paperback color classic version be a good option? I want to read the origin in color version and then jump into the new IDW hardcovers and Ronin.

Grabbed my copy first day. Knew the stories my whole life, but never read the individual issues before. The Turtles were my introduction to comics. In fact, I just purchased a 9.8 graded Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures 6! (My first comic book ever.)

@@forsakenV12 This is the original run, is going to be black and white and have a darker tone than the idw run. However, for me the IDW run is my favorite adoption of the Turtles ever. I have read everything and have watch every show and movies. That's my opinion tho, people could have a different one. With that said, the IDW adoption is well polished and written. Introducing a massive world including new heros and villains. They are all the way up to 141 issues not including side stories like the macro series, secret history of the Foot Clan and so on. They could also have some issues and stories that could drag a bit. But with that said, is an amazing run! Definitely recommend reading the idw run. I also recommend reading the mirage before jumping in to The Last Ronin. It will give you a deep history on the war against the Foot Clan vs Hamato Clan. Plus introduce alot of characters that we come to love for decades. Hope this helps! Cheers 🍻

There is a massive want for this era I think, but collected completely. It seems like every time there is a collection done there is always one thing that keeps it from being complete. It sucks that this was so close and it was something that’s never been a problem to collect every single other time this early stuff was collected that has screwed it up now. They should not have released this until they could sort out whatever the issue 8 situation is. It’s too important an issue with the introduction of Renet and Savanti Romero. Such a frustrating disappointment.
