No one’s pointed this out so I will… Splinter wasn’t just voiced by Jackie Chan. Even the way he fought and the pacing of his action sequence very much so pays homage to Jackie’s stuff. The humor, reactions, and just the overall way he improvs w/ his environment. Perfect.

Noticed this too; during the pandemic I watched A LOT, like, literal hundreds of martial arts movies, and of course a lot of them were Jackie Chan films, and a lot of what I saw in those films when it came to the action scenes, saw reflected in most of the action scenes in Mutant Mayhem, no wonder they feel unique for an animated flick.

Yeah, its been great for western animators to finally breakout of disney's shadow and really explore what animation can do, Spiderverse, Arcane and now this. I like how they have been using it to tell internal stories in a way live action can't. Obviously Japanese artists have been doing it a lot longer, maybe we have finally got the generation of western artists that have experienced Japanese animation getting into a place where they have artistic control.

My husband and I went to see this and we both loved it! We're both long time TMNT fans (since childhood with the OG cartoon, and for him the comics) and we both found the changes just fine. This is probably my favorite version of April because I can identify with her, how she's been treated and how she feels. I also adored the turtles, their personalities, and how they acted like teens. Sometimes silly when they should be serious, which worked for me. The art style is SO GOOD. I saw in a behind the scenes clip where they wanted it to be reminiscent of the look of teens doodling and scribbling in their notebooks, and I think that lends itself very well to the feel of the movie. I love that its rough and imperfect with such interesting uses of color. Rolling my eyes at the hardcore fans who are getting so angry over it. The turtles have been redone over and over and will continue to be, hopefully. I like that they keep getting introduced to new generations in new ways. And the old versions are still there to enjoy.

I agree the movie was obviously made by fans and the humour and changes were fine I'd still like that adult film made in the style of the first comic with the body suit and fx they used in the first movies updated with modern materials and realism even in a sin city style because the first comic was horror so it's the only piece missing .taking nothing away from this movie the art and concept was nailed and it had nostalgia mixed with something new.

@@marconeri1345 Talk To Me was entirely filmed and edited with full screenings before A24 picked them up for distribution. As far as the movies themselves and their production goes it's entirely fair to compare them in that aspect. But anyway, it's just odd when both Talk To Me and Haunted Mansion came out the same day, and he chose to do... Haunted Mansion?? Really feels a bit sussy. Hell Papa Meat even came out and almost immediately started promoting the movie, and he tends to be super critical. Chris doesn't owe them anything obviously, but when fellow KZbinrs release an absolute banger and you are over here uploading a Haunted Mansion and Toy Story review instead? Just kinda rubs me the wrong way, been watching Chris for years, so it would be really disheartening to see him just completely ignore something like this. I was 6 months old when the 80s cartoon premiered. I quite literally do not remember my life before being a fan of TMNT. While I grew up with the 80s cartoon it is no longer my favorite incarnation of the turtles. That honor now belongs to the 2003 cartoon (with the first two live action movies and the IDW comics not too far behind). As a lifelong fan of the franchise I absolutely loved Mutant Mayhem. @@anthonyogden9762It could be that maybe he knows his film won’t be as close to Talk to Me’s level of quality. Like he could’ve seen it already and was blown away by it and then might try to overlook it and hope his casual movie subscribers don’t recognize it and compare his film to Talk to Me. It’s not a slap to Chris, because maybe he’s had a far less budget and less talented people around him to work with, but if he don’t review it then I think that’s just insanely salty. I figured his film would just be your typical horror movie that most film students try to make, like the cliche ghost mystery story or the slasher movie, but on a full scale run time. I love any change that they do to the turtles, whether that is changing they age(to being actual teenagers), the hight, skin color, whatever, I even liked when they changed the weapons in rise. It gets boring to see the same thing over and over again and this was a nice refreshing take on the turtles. It’s fun to try to piece together how they’re gonna do things, it feels like it’s breathing new life into an old franchise. I love this movie and this iteration of the turtles

It's a huge succes and they're making a comic book sequel to it)

As a lifelong TMNT fan, I thought it was so fun. The changes still felt in line with the source material to varying degrees, which is all I ask for. The Ninja Turtles themselves were well-cast & Ice Cube & Jackie Chan were standouts as well. Definitely getting this on blu-ray. I hope it makes enough to get a sequel given you-know-who is waiting in the wings. And it might just be me, but I'm beginning to desire comic book heroes more as animated big-screen adaptations than live-action ones. It feels like more care & creativity is given to the animated films.
