The original & the best. This was a huge hit in 1984. It's a shame she wasn't as popular in the U.S

Jennifer co-wrote this and it was a HUGE hit all over the world except really here in the US. This is truly the original and definitive version of this song, sung by the writer! Thanks for reacting! Here is a recording of her singing it live, 35 years after this recording. It is keyed down a bit but still amazing after 35 years. Enjoy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWqsk5qprbali9E

A powerful song that was first recorded by Jennifer Rush in Frankfurt (West Germany) in 1984 during what was the Cold War era.

Great reaction to my requests as always Chase. Thankyou! My next requests one Katrina is from her (what looks like a hotel room), the second request from the greatest showman is very artistically edited. She never ceases to amaze me.

I was living in Scotland. United Kingdom when this was a huge hit (1985). This is way before Celine covered it. It is interesting that she is from the United States but did better in the UK. By the way, the tank tops are incredibly sexy 🥰🔥

A strange career. American, successful elswhere, particularlty huge in Europe. But her only Top 40 hit in the U.S. was a duet with Elton John called "Flames Of Paradise". I love it, uptempo banger. She co-wrote "The Power Of Love", but it hit Top 40 here first by Laura Branigan and then Celine Dion hit #1 with her version. My favorite is Laura Branigan's version. Her voice crackles with raw emotion. So good.

Great song by a great singer (not many people know she has TEN studio albums out!) I intensely dislike this video, though. As you found, the visuals are distracting from the song. It just needs to focus on her: she is a true singer and the way her body tries to accommodate that powerful voice is a sight to behold 🥰🥰

This and the Laura Brannigan version are the only ones worth listening to

I think that video shows her man is mixing with some very dark characters. It's a shame this video mix of the song fades out and you didn't get to hear Jennifer's big crescendo to finish the song. Also it's pitched faster, making her voice sound higher. In fact, this mix cuts out sections of the verses too. I love the full version running at six minutes 🙌
