I didnt even listen to this kind of music, being a hardrock/metalhead as a teenager, but this voice was so different than anyone else that she just drew me in. her voice got me listening to opera, and I never looked back. She had one of the most powerful voices to ever sing pop music.

I'm from the uk., and i first heard this song in early 1985 on the radio, and i knew this song was going to be a massive hit. Even,then, i knew from first hearing, that it was a million seller from the off. It gave me chills and was on my mind alot that day. However, at this time, records which had a playing time of more than 5 minutes long were not played on the main national radio stations, which effected a songs prospects of success. CBS records had to make an edit to the original song to bring the playing time down to around 5 minutes. After the edit was released, major radio stations started to play it and it climbed to number one and it became the years best selling single of 1985. And in doing so, also bcame the very first million selling single by a female artist in the uk. Many artists have recorded this song over the years, but Jennifers original has the it factor about it and can't be bettered. A magnificeint song.

Jennifer Rush is the main lyricist and original singer of TPOL. In my opinion, Jennifer is the queen of emotional and touching interpretation. It goes deep into the heart. What an outstanding quality of voice. The best of the best. Simply unsurpassed. Here you can tell that she has a trained operatic voice. Her parents were both successful opera singers and singing teachers. It would be very nice if you could also respond to some of Jennifer's many other worldwide hits (except in the USA) e.g. "If you're ever gonna lose my love", "I come undone" or "Heart over mind".

Jennifersings a great version of this song here, very similar to her music video. This is the first time that I heard that she was a co-author of this song. I had assumed she was doing a cover to Celine. I like both versuins and maybe I like this version over Celine's. Not really sure. Jennifer has a greatv voice.
