Doh! One loop I need to close! I see a lot of people are concerned about my blocking that metal door 😅 I should have mentioned - that door is a closet to the water heater - it gets accessed by building maintenance once every couple years, at which time we can easily move the trellis aside! the door does not connect to another room, nor a breaker box, or anything that has to be accessed in any regular interval. Forgot to explain this!❤

The weird thing that you may not have thought of (that will likely prove to be problematic) is that the cut pieces of acacia flooring should be sanded and sealed with oil or polyurethane or something. At the moment, the raw wood is exposed to the elements and may warp and rot fairly quickly due to humidity, or even faster due to rainfall or plant water runoff. I want to save you the hassle of having to buy new ones to re-cut in a few months. Awesome video, as always!!

You never have to sell your videos to me, Caroline. They are always fantastic and so much fun! 1. I love that you made the balcony so cozy and inviting. Great idea to raise the trellis up to hide the upper part of the door. And the flooring is just beautiful! The only other thing I would add is a footrest or a small platform up against the wall to make the counterheight stools more comfortable. 2. Best ad ever. I found some rolled ankle socks like that about 15 years ago and bought 18 pairs because they were so comfy. I've been having to toss them as they've worn out and they're almost gone and I haven't found them again. Definately going to Bombas with your code. 3. I was going to meet my dad at a festival and stay in his camper van for the week last month. When I called to ask if he needed anything he asked for fairy lights. Also, this makeover is stunning and super inspirational as always. I have a balcony with similar dimensions, which I tried to do up without using any brains at all. I put down a fake grass mat which looked super cute. Until I remembered I live in Ireland and it rains 97% of the time. That mat got pretty gross pretty quickly. Love the makeover! Little tip that may help you should you decide to get the chop saw out again - if you wrap the plank/wood with painter's tape over the line you plane to saw, it'll both stop pieces from flying away and prevent the wood from chipping, so you can get nice clean cuts

Love it…one suggestion since you can’t really see the bottom of the planter with the trellis, raise it up with some boards or brick so that the trellis can be at the height of the door you are trying to camouflage. That way you also get to see more of the fairy lights that you added. ❤

This afternoon, I had a massive family memorial gathering for a deceased member. You did a great job with the tiny space! I wouldn't change anything, but I would add a short wooden rail to the back edge of the table just to keep things from being knocked off accidentally---like maybe a lighted candle that fell off and landed on the guy downstairs head and set his toupee on fire (accidentally, of course). I love the lattice planter in front of the storage room door---that's a great idea! I would go ahead and put furniture sliders under it so it would be easier to access the door when you need to get in there. Another thing that would be cute and add some more nature would be to hang a humming bird feeder. Those little guys are so much fun to watch. They will be migrating south to Mexico soon and will need so much nourishment for their trip. They have to fly Non-Stop over the Gulf of Mexico---it takes them about four days! Don't want those little wings to give out on them halfway across. Everything looks great! Love it!

Love the wooden floor things. Also love the trellis and the plants. Looks very good. I'm not a big fan of high chairs (stools) though. I don't find it confortable to rest my feet on the chair's crossbar. But I agree that they are the best solution to improve the field of view. I'd probably build a box or something and put it under the table to use as a foot stool. With all that said, I enjoyed the video. I just discovered your channel and immediately subscribed.

Any time you make even the smallest space in your environment inviting, you’ve increased your contentment in your own home. We don’t realize how much any dreary little nook in our homes whittles away at that feeling of being cocooned by what is supposed to be your sanctuary from the world. It’s like your brain can put down that little bit of weight it’s carrying around under the surface and you feel lighter and just better. And making that tiny space warmer and aesthetically pleasing will be seen and felt from the inside as well. So while it’s such a small change, it does change the ENTIRE space. Having those trees surrounding his view out there is already such a win in an urban apartment, I’d say making that space a place you want to be in brings that feature into his home in a way it wasn’t before. Also, the ad …. Outstanding lol. ❤

Wow. you did such a great job with such a tiny space. Very inspiring. Something about small spaces really bring about a lot of creativity. We are considering moving to an urban environment from our rural one in the next few years. I've been somewhat excited about it but also dreading giving up all my great outdoor spaces for a high rise balcony situation....but this video showed me the potential of how to get the most out of a small outdoor space.
