Always thought the piece at the end of the Street Hassle section was one of the greatest bits of writing in music history. @Brandon lol. When I first listened to this album, I don't know, I think I bought it about a decade after it came out. Those very lyrics I became obsessed with, and I'm still thinking it's the best rock-and-roll line I've ever heard. But when you say it, you gotta have a gap between, "you know what it's called called?", and .... "bad luck". And of course Lou's NY/Queens accent helps. Never have any musical lyrics (poetry) rung so true for me. To me, it's like the most streetwise comment one could ever make. I still say it to myself every once in awhile. Even being at a place like Target or a shopping mall, lol, when you're lookin' at some character, and you just shake your head. "....bad luck" hahahaha lmao

I had thought for a couple of years that Simple Minds had written this, when I heard the brilliant Sparkle In The Rain record back in 1984. Then in 1987 I saw U2 at Wembley Stadium and Lou Reed was a special guest. He did this song live (wonderfully) and I realised I was very wrong!

There was a very brief time, on the NYC music scene...pre-punk, new wave, more experimental. Pre Art Rock, little clubs like "Max's Kansas City", CBGB. These people came out of the Factory atmosphere, created by Warhol. Nico, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed and David Johansson. Check it out. He does sound like Dylan.
