This John Deere 35G that was submerged in water is now in dire need of repair. Water has mixed in with the fuel, gotten into the engine oil, as well as into the engine itself! Can the heavy duty mechanic bring it back to life?
One of the unfortunate realities of working outdoors is that we can’t control the weather. If your heavy equipment is unfortunate enough to get submerged after heavy rains, there are a few things you can do to try and revive your heavy machinery before calling it quits.

Well as a John Deere tech that pump would be coming out and inspected for internal damage as well as the final drive motors but at bare minimum if we took your root we would run a filter caddy to protect the hydraulic system components

Remember that water is heavier than oil. So over time the water will descend to the bottom of the oil pan or its lowest point where it is trapped...like a hose..

The outer air filter in your left hand has a different opening than the new one in your right hand. Looks like some kinda plastic insert where the new one SC doesn't.

@Bombardier64. Maybe thats why the new one didn't fit properly, and he had to hold it up while putting it in the housing 🤔

I usually work on larger machines, the 20ton class. In a situation where the engine can't run and the machine needs to be moved, remove the final drive propeller shafts and the tracks will rotate freely when towed. Much easier/lighter to tow that way.

draining the hydraulic tank, i would have use a cloth or rag on a stick just to wipe right of the bottom of the tank if it was possible, and remove the suction hose at the bottom of the tank to the hydraulic pump, because the is nothing stopping the water going into the suction hose. Great video anyway and good information

Would running something like brake fluid through as “rinse” be of any benefit as it’s hydroscopic? Obviously you’d wanna get that out as well but just as part of the process

Have to ask why would you use white plumbers tape for the hydraulic oil drain plug and not the yellow oil resistant teflon tape or oil rated thread sealant?
