The character select screen in Tekken 5.0 is looks the same as PS2.

Yes, the PS2 version is based on the first available arcade version - 5.0 In fact, I distinctly remember hearing (at that time) about Tekken veterans/players being really upset that the Arcade version received a revision/balance update in the form of Tekken 5.1, while the PS2 was left out in the cold. It ended up fixing some major (and obviously now-infamous) issues like infinites and overpowered moves/properties. What makes this so egregious is that the update released sometime around July 2005 in Japan, and at that point, all international PS2 versions of 5.0 were already available in stores. Namco clearly rushed the PS2 releases, and they didn't even bother porting the revision to something like the Greatest Hits line. Although in hindsight, that wouldn't have made much sense given the circumstances.

If I also remember correctly, arcade operators weren’t happy when the home console version launched much earlier than expected. Hence why Namco released the 5.1 update so the arcades could have an exclusive version to profit from. I thought that was another interesting side of the story.

Hello there, if you don't mind to ask. Are you able to extract all of the textures from Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection (arcade version not the PSP Version). If you did tried to extract it, can you send me the Google Drive link of the extracted textures so i may be able to use it for my Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection PPSSPP mod (there is a tutorial in google on how you rip models and textures from the arcade versions of Tekken 5)

@@SoukaDeezNutz I may use some assets to it for my Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection PPSSPP mod cause some textures from the arcade versions didn't appear on the PSP or PS3 version (some of them were trimmed, reduced, and remade due to hardware limitations) Using those textures, the graphics mod will be fully identical to the Arcade version as well. Only the character textures are different for my mod because im going to use the character textures from Street fighter X Tekken
