Dude im just waiting for it. Im Teryu with our boy Kaz and yesterday I got a promotion chance against a Asuka and I fucking lost. Then I lost some other matches and drop a bit but in the end of the session I beat one Mighty Ruler Asuka twice and finished the session close to a promotional match. But damn, play ranked its a roller coaster of emotion for sure, pure pressure. I think I will stop in blue too, or at least take a good breath before try to climbing again. Blue and above ranked system is broken

quick matches are just as bad people one and done, bad connections stil, oh and btw block only works in ranked so people can still harass you in lounge if you sit at a cabinet, not joking it only works in ranked. also in quick match it takes forever to find a match i times it and it takes almost five mins to find a decent connection unless i accept a four bar wifi with a 10 percent disconnect rate. i’m hardwired, my transfer rates are very high, my speed tests are off the charts, my pc is high end and i have tekken set at 55 percent rendering, on high not ultra, no vsync or heavy processing things, and most of my matches are well over 100 ping with 1 to 3 frames of delay. it’s just horrible all around

The problem with t8’s ranked system is that there is no feeling of reward or accomplishment when you achieve a certain rank anymore. Back in t7 beginner, intermediate, advanced and pro play was way more clearly defined. In the current system the skill distribution makes zero sense. Fujin, which is supposed to be considered a respectable rank barely feels like a beginner rank at this point and it’s becoming more and more clear that it is with how many newcomers are able to achieve it, and as you’ve said tekken king to tekken god feels barely intermediate. So we’re essentially stuck with a top heavy system where intermediates are legitimately facing professional caliber players in ranked. I think the ranks themselves need a complete rework, especially considering the fact that the first 15 ranks are basically free and achievable within 1 week of playing the game. I remember back in t7 genbu, the Garyu equivalent was the barrier for intermediate play and was not a joke like it is now. I understand that they did this so that beginners feel like they are progressing but the beginners are already gone, the ranks need to have meaning again.

I started in T7 and i reached Raijin after 2 years ( i mostly play chill quick matches) and that was when i stopped because getting better was too much effort. In T8 i saw people complaing they are "STUCK in purple" after 1 month of playing. People in Purple/blue in T7 were very strong players.

Tekken Prowess is more indicative of the player's skill than the rank. THe problem occurs when you have let's say 130 000 points and you fight a guy with 180 000 points, or 200 000 or 240 000 points. And if they play their non-main character, they will have lower rank than you and still destroy you because they have higher skill than you. And to make things worse, even if you as a 130 000 guy beat 240 000 guy, you will get only 100 points if their rank for their non-main hero is destroyer or something like that. So stupid. 100 points for beating a guy who is literally 200% better than you...

I agree Prowess is more telling of skill than the rank, but I don't think Prowess accurately reflects player skill at all and is the main reason the matchmaking in ranked sucks. They should ditch it entirely for an Elo/Glicko system.

Bruh I had just quitted playing ranked last week after how much this game was literally making me angry that I almost felt like throwing my controller to the ground. I had never done that for any game, Tekken 7, Overwatch, and even souls game. This rank system makes ZERO sense with how it works and I think I became more miserable with the game due to it along with the general system of the gameplay being more stressful to deal with already due to the favorism on aggressiveness. Why do we lose huge random amount of points to players that are higher ranked than us? The 2-sets match sucks too I agree as well. And they still WON'T properly punish the pluggers. Like give me points when they rage quit so I feel like I didn't waste my time with an match. Any game worth their salt would had already have an system for this but Tekken is like the only game I played that do not do this and expect people to keep shelling out money for DLC and MTX. Like I do not mind spending $4 on an skin in the cash shop but ATLEAST put that money towards improving the game with QOL updates and making rank better. But I also feel like they should had done that from the very start.

Some days you are on a roll you think "They better make a new rank soon because GoD will be conquered today!!". And then in others you're like "Fuck this game. I'm not touching ranked again. I have posted this in a couple of places but this is some ideas that i think would make Tekken a lot more fun during ranked. At the start of every season (roughly a year) Reset the ranks. Every year it will be harder and harder to rank up, You may be wondering why anyone would grind ranked then but this is addressed later. Add more ranks, similar to tekken 7. Longer grind, more time you play. also a more nuanced rank separation. Bring back infinite rematches. Ranked matches are forced to be best of 3, but can go more than that. Remove prowess matchmaking (Including in quick match) GIVE INCENTIVES FOR RANKING UP! For example: every color rank you achieve you get a cosmetic/outfit/tekken coins. Leaderboard rewards. At the end of the season have rewards for like, the top 10k-20k players. Could be anything from 100 tekken coins, to having your name ingrained into the tekken lounge on a plaque or something. Stream Tournaments like EVO or even normal high ranked gameplay to the tekken lounge. The fact the screen is there and only being used to play the same old video clip over and over is such a missed opportunity. Add and overhaul tournament modes, having their OWN SET OF RANKS and prizes. (other than useless gold) Crack down on cheaters, Not banning pluggers but implement a common sense penalty system for leaving the game. I have had some people tell me some of this stuff is bad because it incentivizes cheaters and tbh I think that's such a bs mindset to have. to be that scared of cheaters that you would look the other way on good ideas. might as well not have a ranked mode at that point.

That's my main issue. Tekken 8 is basically 2d. Sure, you can step to get away from the wall for example but you can't dodge and slip attacks to whiff punish anymore which is ridiculous. When it's their turn, my instinct is to SS or backdash out of the pocket to whiff punish. But defense was nerfed so hard on this game it doesn't feel like Tekken. Now I'm forced to either press or duck. That's my main issue with the game. I already SS'd, nearly took his back, try to whiff punish and I still get hit. That and the point system. I went like 25-5 and got nowhere. Those losses cost me all my points. I'd get like 7 wins, lose a set (losses and maybe one win) and there went all my points. You have to go 5-1 just for maintenance.

Other than the prowess matchmaking, I think the dumbest thing about ranked matches are the losing streak deductions. You can literally lose 1600 points from 3 losses even if you won most of the matches in your session. I was halfway to Tekken God, then got demoted to Bushin in a very short time, and then had to grind my way back to Tekken Emperor. Even if you get demoted your prowess doesn't even go down, so you'll still get matched up with Tekken God+ level players if you ranked up your side characters.

Just a reminder that Garyu and up is where you start to lose points I think, so you may need to spend more time developing your skill with your characters. The mashing truly starts between Fujin to Bushin. Observe the average Fujin who has essentially flowcharted everyone underneath them to get to that point, versus say a Tekken King or even the Battle Rulers. You'll see a world of difference

I actually shared your frustration, but only until I found a solution to it. I'm very disconnected to the point system of ranked thanks to switching characters constantly. What I usually do is get a high rank with a character, and then I switch to another until I get the same or higher rank. This kind of makes it so that no matter what, the rank I earned is there forever. And whenever I have a big lose streak, I don't quite care, because I blame my unfamiliarity with the character most of the time. The feeling of having my time wasted due to points lost is simply not there. No matter what I'm progressing constantly.

What matters more now in online is your Tekken Prowess/Power. Your prowess gets a massive boost when you go to the next rank. Prowess/Power in Bushin is around 190K and you get a boost to around 220K when you make it to Tekken King. I made it to Tekken King and holy hell, I'm getting knowledge checked and spanked HARD. I dropped to Raijin for crying out loud! Here is the thing I noticed though, everyone's Prowess/Power were around the same as mine at above 220K, regardless of rank. Like I said, look at Prowess/Power for a better indicator of the level you're playing against.

I would have said that points can ONLY be gained in ranked per-set (best of 3, best of 5, etc) and for ANYONE who leaves before the set ends, they lose twice the amount of points they would normally lose via a defeat after a set is completed fully. Between the constant rage quitting, the broken tracking from heat engagers, nerfed movement and overall jank going all the way back to T5, I don't like how even content creators are telling Harada and Murray this stuff and they casually ignore it and joke on X and cash in on a game that got rushed out just to compete with SF6. I am a player as well as a collector so I was gonna get Tekken to have the full series, but as far as buying any dlc or putting any time into it, I'm done indefinitely until I see they actually give a damn about their product because indie companies and SNK for that matter put far more love into their games so KOFXV, City of the Wolves, and Pocket Bravery feels far more enjoyable and you can tell the devs love their player base whereas Harada and Murray have created a flawed product that both pros are afraid to speak up about and players that will come out of the wood work to attack anyone who calls it what it is so I'm done with Tekken and will either play SoulCalibur 6 or wait for. Virtua Fighter 6.

3:25, yes mike, you actually can becasue when they hit TG they are in the top 2% of players, end of discussion. Every character will carry to a certain degree, but if you made it to a certain rank you havent peeked on that character yet if you keep going up. And the higher you go the less people will be unfamiliar with certain matchups. If you are mad that you de-ranked thats fine but you can't pretend the matchmaking is broken just because you didnt know a matchup. I will admit they could make the ammount of points you gain and lose less, to make it less likely for someone to "luck" into a rank. But statistically speaking this kind of thing is quite rare and if they truly were carried by luck they will be deranked if they keep playing. Yes, the matchmaking system needs work but you can't make it out as if everyone's rank is a lie.

The more I try to extend some grace to this game, the more the glaring flaws show themselves......but more than that, the way these flaws are being completely overlooked by Harada, Murray and Co. I don't know whether they legitimately don't care, or if their collective arm is being twisted by Bamco to ignore it, but whatever the case, I don't know how much longer I'm willing to stick around for it. The entire community has been screaming for some attention to be paid to this stuff, but all we get in response is gaslighting on Twitter and more meaningless battle passes. This game could be incredible, but all it's displaying to me now is how much we don't matter after we plunk down our coin for the product. Which is a real shame because I love and respect Tekken, and have for years despite it not being my favorite 3D fighter. We can't just Ba Sing Se our way through this either. Nothing gets fixed if we don't spotlight the problems for everyone to see. If the game really costs that much to develop and upkeep, which supposedly necessitates these garbage-ass battle-passes, DLC practices and promotions, then where's all the money going?

The craziest part about this whole thing is just how much I have to mug other players with laggy connections playing weird characters ultra ham to get anywhere and of course if that Law or Enemy Alisa with special style and extreme lag get any kind of victories over you the amount of progress lost is INSANE. Even with trying to Alisa cheese them non stop its a nightmare to get out of Garyu but there is hope I can at least Shinryu ONCE. I have 100 percent achievements in Tekken 8 according to Steam yet the ranked PVP achievements past Garyu are still evading me so hard.

I put ranked down when I hit tekken king right before Eddy came out, which was end of march. With Eddy, came spammers and the new prowess matchmaking. I got back on there after awhile and it was just a mess. Getting back on there maybe 1 or 2 times every month after, and every time, I get punished for it. I'm just so over it. **edit** Also, on rage quiting, if you see KO, then points are being added or deducted. If you don't see KO and they disconnect, nothing happens for either party. Only thing they did was fix the disconnect percentage actually showing up.

Another problem I'm starting to realize in ranked is the tekken prowess. One of the reasons blue ranks is so hard to get out of is because you will be facing smurfers. I have over 190k prowess, yet I'm going against someone that has 230k or sometimes over 300k prowess. Reason being that people who reach GoD, they start to play a secondary, which they start at fujin. Why can't you find people who have almost the same prowess as you. It's pretty unfair if you think about it. Im a software engineer. This issue is so easy to fix. During match making they could just easily look up the last 50 or so matches that you played, if the proposed opponent is in that list, skip that opponent, find a new one. Boom, death match problem solved. That way you only see a person max once or twice a day depending on how hard you grind ranked.

The issue is that will compound the problem already created by the prowess matchmaking: artificially slim player pools. In a game with a consistent 10-20,000 concurrent players at peak hours, there's no reason why someone in purple or blue ranks should be waiting anywhere from 5-10+ minutes in between matches. Without fixing that first, your idea, while a sound solution to the death match problem, will make ranked completely unplayable for many people.

There’s no excuse for not penalizing pluggers. All other competitive games do it properly. I am a defensive player too, so I liked T7 mechanics. However already in T7 I stopped caring about my rank. Better players gave me advice to focus on improving my game instrad of focusing on the rank. Always practice something and get joy out of learning it, rank comes for free later. Also dropping ranks in long sessions doesn’t matter. You still have the skills left. Just speedrun the rank back. It would be nice if the ranked system supported longer matches. Would make it easier to train new matchups. In T7 I could play 20+ matches against the same player (while dropping 2 ranks), but usually I started winning eventually. T8 short matches are not as good for training new matchups.

T8 makes learning harder since there’s so many forced 50/50 situation. In T7 I could usually play at range 2 to avoid close range mixups, but in T8 it’s much harder to keep them out. Especially with heat.

People don't talk about this enough. I got to Garyu towards the start of the game and given I never got beyond teal ranks in Tekken 7, I was happy to take a breather after getting to red in Tekken 8. Every time I've tried to play ranked since then, I get nothing but players that are effectively smurfing on secondary characters due to the prowess imbalances that have taken hold since that ludicrous change back in April. I'm so glad I mostly play offline with friends, otherwise I would have probably dropped this franchise.

Ngl I literally told myself this week that I need a break from Tekken 8 lol this is my first real Tekken game and I’ve reached red rank with Zafina and I’m satisfied with that for now. There’s just too much bs to deal with like blocking doesn’t matter and chip damage is insane I lost to a Bryan player and my health bar had like 75% gray health! I still think it’s a good game but rank is a mess I agree. Anyways I’m a Street Fighter player tbh so I’ll for sure put more time in SF6 and try to reach Master rank there as I’m currently at the beginning of Diamond. Also I just bought Guilty Gear Strive last weekend and I’m having way more fun learning it especially with it being my first GG game!

I'll admit, I'm not that far in Ranked at all. I'm still enjoying a leisurely honeymoon with T8. It's giving me everything that I specifically want out of a fighting game, at this time in my life. I'll agree though, at the level you're at Mike, I can totally see how this game would turn insufferable. Everyone in the kiddy pool is having a blast with it while the playing pool gets smaller and smaller for all the really high level players. If the lower-league players are already taken care of, then harada really owes it to the sweatlords to take a closer look at redesigning the Ranked system. I still think that anyone above 1% disconnection rate should only be matched up with other ragequitters till they learn proper sportsmanship. If they're too fragile to do the runback after getting cooked, it's fine, whatever. But I'm really tired of ragequitting being so readily associated with T8.

The reason the lower players are taken care of was at the expense of the higher players, there is not to fix, this is working as intented, its happening in fps games too with their MMR like cod and what not, these games are not made for higher skill players, they are made for average players.

I quit this game week two after release thanks to this new ranking system. If i knew they will change rank that much as well as remove infinite rematches i wouldn't have bought it to begin with. Unless some rank reset happens and an update brings back the old T7 rank system as well as infinite rematching i don't think i will ever play it again.

I quit rank for a while after reaching TEKKEN King. I've been demoted like 7 times from TEKKEN King to Bushin and one time from TEKKEN King to Kishin half. It was very frustrating. Everytime I got back TEKKEN King I always told myself I will focus on other games or not play rank anymore because this is the farthest I could go. I was aiming for TEKKEN God because that was my highest rank in TEKKEN 7. I stopped playing ranked and instead do Quick Matches but it doesn't have the thrill and rewarding feeling as ranked matches. Prolly did that for a month and decided to play ranked again. Now I reached TEKKEN Emperor. I just hope to get to TEKKEN God so I can finally just rest and enjoy Quick Matches from there on. Game is fun and stressful at the same time.

I feel the same with Ranked and I've been playing more Quick matches lately for that reason. Not that those are any better, but at least I don't feel robbed. I'm so tired of feeling I am improving at a challenging game I'm still learning, and yet being destroyed by players who don't belong to my rank nor to my experience level. It's not fair and doesn't help me enjoying a damn game. Ranking is not unimportant in a game like this, because it's the equivalent of progressing in any levels based games, except here we play against each other and our level is about how proficient we are. So Ranking is an extremely important system of any fighting games. It's the little pat on the back that tells you you've been doing well or you need to improve here and there. As it is now it's just a kick in the face that can seriously affect longevity.

Im not sure how to put it but theres really no way to intuitively figure out matchups you just get spammed by 3 different strings with no way of figuring out what your doing wrong in the moment besides just getting hit by it and the only way to learn is to watch replays so the game can tell you the hyper specific counter to one move out of a couple hundred for each character

In terms of the Battle pass even IF I want the stuff from the battle pass...that stuff is EASY to earn compared to what I actually have to do to get promoted past a certain point in ranked...I find myself automatically getting all battlepass stuff and there is no further stuff to get from the battlepass anymore. I am still not even close to getting promoted yet to the rank I want and there is no way I can make a checkpoint where I can keep my points up to that checkpoint. Instead I face demotion and probably have to beat a King with serious lag issues if I want to avoid demotion.

I use to play Tekken 7 for like 3 or 4 hours every night. Tekken 8 is like one hour. After half the players one and done you. You really feel overwhelmed with frustration. On the topic of ranked and how the gameplay boils down it favors the attacker which it isnt bad but I wouldve loved if they do one patch in which they buff defensive movement (i.e make backdash slight better and overall nerf the homing capability of the roster as a whole to make defensive sidestep more viable). I play azu and the amount of times a i get away with stuff that i shouldnt simply because people dont know the match up is a real thing so deathmatch would also benefit getting better at learning the game and I'm all for it. Removing infinite rematch was definitely a mistake. I think from the dev angle, they did it because they want people to be able to find games. A big part of what made T7 fantastic, was that *Quick Match* had infinite rematch since *Day 1,* before it eventually made it's way to Ranked. That made playing T7 feel like an Arcade experience, without having to constantly pay out of pocket. It needs to come back. I feel that's why I don't want to stay on as long as I usually would. You essentially got a death match and didn't like it even though you and others have been asking for death matches...you have to decide if you want it or not. 2. Once you get past blue ranks it's total sweat bc casuals can't make it there ..that comes with the territory. 3. In previous yrs defensive ppl made high ranks, now offensive ppl do. You can't call out ppl who don't know Feng match ups at your rank...if they know offensive pressure they don't need to know the match up. 4. I always get so angry at tekken 8. So I went and tried tekken 7. To see what it was like. And I was actually having fun. Got my assbeat by some very experienced Smurf in blue ranks. But it didn’t feel like I got rushdowned or anything. And… I didn’t get angry. I was having fun. even though I got destroyed by some Smurf. Because I lost to skill, patience, and fundamentals. Not gimmicks, rage quitters, pluggers, and all the other bs like in tekken 8. And tekken 7 is slow. But not too slow. It allows you to actually think and play the game for longer than 10 seconds before getting rushed down by some plus 7 on block move into stance into 50/50. Low knocks you on the ground for more mixup. Mid launches you. And puts you on wall. Next thing you know. Your dead. In half a minute.

This system is really hard to be pleased by. Why is the matchmaking based off prowess? That alone is pissing me off, because I'm currently Tekken Emperor, yet I'm fighting Bushin's because they have the same prowess...can I stop fighting Bushin's please! Also...when you lose 3 games in a row, you lose all your progress, and have to start over, which wastes more time. You gain very little for beating someone around your rank 3 times, and that's what bothers me, and for some reason...you lose more if you lose...it should be the same. If you gain the same amount points from 3 games, then you also lose the same amount of points from 3 games. Shit is ridiculous and straight up shambolic. Also it wastes time, literally 2 hours on this game to lose most of my points again. Imo, you shouldn't have this system of losing 3 times in a row causing a massive point decrease. It only makes sense at max rank because you're fighting for your best rank and you have 3 chances to lose it. That's what Tekken 7 did with Tekken God Omega. Now though...Bamco decided to homogenise this for EVERY rank. It was better before gain to 1200 or 1300 points after 1 game and losing 1700 after one game instead of losing 2 small amounts of points and then a shit load in the span of 3 games. Also Tekken 7 had infinite rematching which was better if you wanted to get points off the same person, now you only play 2 or 3 games without adjusting to the match up. I just hate it so much. I really wanna love Tekken 8, but the Ranked Mode needs to he reworked. Hoping they add Tekken Force so I have other ways to play this game rather than getting nothing in ranked.

They should add a new ranked mode that is serious, and really punished leavers and win-quitter that don't finish the set. And also notices if you mess with your network/PC/console performance to lag or drop frames etc. Then locks you out of the mode for up to multiple hours/days/weeks/months, depending on if repeat offender.

Keep in mind the 2 wins before the loss was against Bushin so I only needed 1 win to get a win streak bonus, I promoted got a promotion buffer lost once against Tekken king and then next game against Bushin is a demotion

Multiversus has trash rank too, but for partial sets they give you points if someone quits, and quitters lose points. Their rank is worse overall i believe but its definitely possible to make the point system better.

fully agree with you here, if you quit you lose points - otherwise its just pandering to casual farming to reach max rank. which in itself is a sham of a system, it was even worse in wow - where people would take turns to let eachother reach warlord, also because of the point system being busted. i've never bothered with ranking in any game i've ever played and i havent ever needed it to practice my skills either. when i was playing league of legends, i had a casual mmr of 2400, this was back when the game still had two mmr systems - so the more you won the better players you meet. this was an amazing system because it allows you to casually increase apm, gather strategies and alternative playstyles. but ofcourse all good things must come to an end..😞💔

Great vid man! I hope to see more people expressing their disappointment in the current state of ranked because I agree, ranked is deeply flawed and needs to be addressed. They need to ditch/rework Prowess for a better method of assessing player strength. There are already established ways of doing this, like Glicko 2. The Prowess system conflicts with rank when matchmaking and leads to all kinds of headaches like the examples you show in the video. It's so damn frustrating to play right now.

Tekken 7 was a bit too disbalanced. But it still was a poking based tekken, where you had to know how to open up your opponent, you had to have good neutral gameplay. Now in t8 almost every goddamn character is packed with power crash, heat, 50/50 bullshit. Just no chance for defensive players. I loved rage drive system in t7 because you had to use your brain and decide between rage art and drive. Drive gave you 50/50 but in t8 every fucking situation gives you 50/50, you don’t have to work for it. I don’t take this game seriously when I play with newcomers I know I would beat them in t7 because t7 has no their favourite panic buttons. Those players would get clapped in neutral, not knowing how to deal damage properly

As a Tekken veteran i gotta say... it sucks because as a non top tier elite Pro, this is the best time to be a Tekken fan when it comes to opportunities. So many content creators who are never gonna win EVO have a chance at doing something with the game they love. But as a veteran, I'm the first to criticize how Harada allowed Tekken to become TikTokfied brainrot. What am i supposed to do? I wanna start making videos but the game is just too stupid. You can't really be good and skilled at casino so half the time i feel like i wasted my time. My main issue is Tekken 8 is basically 2d. Sure, you can step to get away from the wall for example but you can't dodge and slip attacks to whiff punish anymore which is ridiculous. When it's their turn, my instinct is to SS or backdash out of the pocket to whiff punish. But defense was nerfed so hard on this game it doesn't feel like Tekken. Now I'm forced to either press or duck. That's my main issue with the game. I already SS'd, nearly took his back, try to whiff punish and I still get hit. That and the point system. I went like 25-5 and got nowhere. Those losses cost me all my points. I'd get like 7 wins, lose a set (losses and maybe one win) and there went all my points. You have to go 5-1 just for maintenance. I don't really mid this as much as the gameplay tho. Because yeah, im losing 800 points for losing my 8 win streak but if im losing pointe like that then so is everyone else. So at the end of the day i guess thats where i belong. As far as someone being Tekken King and up using a new character that nobody knows the match up? They're only shooting themselves in the foot. Sure, you reached Tekken God with Lydia and or Eddy. But now after a few months you're 1) gonna lose your rank or 2) go back to using your main (probably a Raijin) but now your Tekken Prowess is so high that you're gonna face people way higher level so good luck with that. A 300k TP Raijin is not the same as a 190k TP Raijin. So in conclusion, i feel like I wasted my time after a long Tekken session. My skills are down the drain because this game nerfed defense and heavily buffed offense. I still face Tekken Gods who cant break throws. That didn't happen on 7. My Marduk tackles were just bait to keep them on their toes but they broke the tackles. If anything yeah you already buffed offense with heat but dont nerf defense. Yall tried punishing my S+ Throw Escape with counter throws, punish throws and for a while tracking throws. Then i gotta go 25-5 just to break even? I'm not even gonna get into rage quitters and Battle Trash. I just feel like i wasted my time half the time i play this game. I don't even get stressed. More like, think to myself, "wtf am i doing? Personally I think people take ranked way too seriously. Sure the ranking pairing is weird asf since it's based off prowess. I ran into nothing but battle rulers and fujins when I was a Tekken God Supreme promoting to God of Destruction. I wanna say it was god of destruction mains sub characters but it was just a weird pairing. The only thing that was an absolute hassle in ranked was constant RQs with having no penalty towards the opponent. The lose streak bonus was also kinda annoying since when u get closer to Tekken gods u lose like 1800 points or even more depending on the rank you fight. There's a win streak bonus of the same rank as you if you win or if they are over a rank by 1. There's a lose streak bonus if you lose to the same rank as you or 1 rank higher. You also have to win 3 in a row or lose 3 in a row. It's definitely a weird system for sure but honestly rank is pretty superficial. I'm God of Destruction Rank now but I've fought lesser ranks that are really good. So that's why I believe ranking especially in Tekken 8 doesn't mean a thing. Point of my comment is just relax rank isn't everything, experience is. The people that take rank seriously just gotta chill.

I love Tekken 8 but matching with Tekken Prowess instead of rank placement, the distribution of points, the constant rush down at times that adds to it, and I'm sure more that I can't think of off the top of my head really make it infuriating to play online at all. Mike it dosent matter what you feel like, Tekken God is in the top 2%, that's just a fact. So if anyone is TG they are better than around 98% of players. Just because you have a weak matchup or someone else has a weak matchup vs you is irrelevant. Yes certain characters are easier to get to certain ranks, but that is axactly why ranks are separate per character. If you are a TG Alisa player, you are a TG Alisa player, not a TG with every character in the game. You will likely be carried in some respect by every character, some more than others.

The current rank system is a double-edged sword. Like you said, you farmed points off of a player who didn’t know the feng matchup. You can’t be mad when the reverse happens to you because you didn’t know the matchup. Now, I’m not saying the current system is perfect but we can’t rely on the devs changing it to be exactly what we want. What you can do in the meantime is to block said lidia player so you can get paired up with somebody else. The option is there. You don’t have to fight anyone that you don’t want to fight.

Agreed. I myself don`t find Ranked fun anymore. One thing that also bugs me about the point system is that you gain less points by beating players of your same rank. If you win, you bet 500 points, but if you lose you get 520 points discounted. I know 20 pts is nothing, but I find that very discouraging, since I don`t see any reward at the end of the set. Also, I think they shouldn`t rank up the characters when you rank up with your main. That takes the fun of trying a character for the first time, since the game will put you against someone who knows what`re they doing.

I dont think its that you dont deserve your rank its just how tekken works with the difference between characters. In every tekken game there is gonna be a huge difference between the skill of a kazuya player and a zafina player if they are both at a high rank and that's just the nature of how tekken is.

I don’t usually comment on KZbin videos but am hoping this video gains some traction so Bandai Namco will listen. I’m completely new to the Tekken franchise and my online experience of Tekken 8, thus far has been, to put it politely, disappointing. It’s basically unplayable. I’m constantly matched with people far far above my rank (Fujin, Tekken King, even Emperor) and with triple the Tekken Prowess. If I manage to get one game I am rewarded nothing in terms of points and I seem to lose way more. This is even worse when their prowess is triple mine but they’re ranked lower eg Vanquisher, cause when i undoubtedly lose, I will lose a lot more points than they will gain. Not only that, but it seems waaaay too easy to create new accounts in this game too as I’ve come across people who are “beginners” with only 100 Tekken prowess who are doing perfect EWGF and reading everything I do. Quick Match isn’t much better for beginners to learn either as that legitimately has no rank restriction hahaha How can they get the ranking system so wrong when Street Fighter 6 came out a year before it?

Left my rank at Shiryu because I love the way it looks. I already beat people with ranks has far has Raijin in quick match. I kept my TP at 124,000. I got no interest in being super good at any fighting game. I get my replays and can have my fun. Good enough for me.
