@@jdrmanmusiqking Basically, it comes from the days when wrestling was a carny thing. A "mark" was the term back then for a person who had fallen for a scam, since they'd be "marked" as someone you or your buddies could potentially scam further. In terms of wrestling, it means someone who's falling for the "scam" of wrestling--meaning, someone who thinks that pro wrestling is real. Since that's not very common these days, it's usually used to refer to people who are just really deep, unironic fanboys of wrestling and love the whole thing. This is often contrasted with "smarks" (smart marks) who know the business and that it's all fake, but still show up to watch wrestling anyway because they think it looks cool.

I don’t understand people saying, “oh I didn’t play this game because I don’t know what Tatsunoko is,” that shouldn’t matter, at least it didn’t matter to me, the characters looked so cool and vibrant on the Tatsunoko side that I didn’t care and was super interested in learning about them, that’s what makes it a great fighting game.

Doronjo's a pretty interesting character, by the way. The story behind her is that she and her gang were meant to be the villains of Yatterman, but they were just so wacky and likeable that they ended up being the most iconic part of it instead. It got to the point that they did a recent sequel series and had it be from the POV of their descendants. And if you watch anime aimed at kids, you see that same archetype of a gang of endearing comedy-relief villainous henchmen crop up a lot--Team Rocket in particular stole a LOT of their shtick from the Doronbo gang.

I'm still watching the video so I don't know if you mention it anywhere but 90% of the Tatsunoko characters in the roster had their designs done by Yoshitaka Amano, the artist for Front Mission, Vampire Hunter D and the first 6 Final Fantasy games. These were done as his first ever gigs in the industry and a lot of it is inspired by the art of DC Comics, particularly that of Neal Adams whose a personal favourite of Amano. Amano did an art exhibit sometime ago in my city and there were tons of Tatsunoko art on display, mostly those of Gatchaman and Casshern, and it blows my mind to know that there's a Capcom game with ties to him.

Good catch; this would be perfect for Capcom Fighting Collection 3. They acknowledged Rival Schools/Project Justice and Power Stone with that new collection they announced, so I’m convinced anything is possible. Couple that with the Marvel and SNK collabs returning, if the stars were ever to align, it would be now. A game like this one doesn’t deserve to be lost to the past.

There is something very interesting about how, for TvC they picked the ORIGINAL Space Knight Tekkaman, the slower of the two protagonist Tekkamen of the franchise; pretty interesting choice too, since I imagine a proper Tekkaman Blade should be speedy as fuck. like, the one line he has about Tekkamen in the show is simple: "Never Underestimate The Speed of a Tekkaman!" with special moves and finishers that emphasize going fast as fuck - like the CRASH INTRUDE! Edit: He was infact in there for the second release! Glorious. AS A FUN FACT, His Cinematic Super move isn't just a Voltekka, it's the BLASTEEER VOLTEKKAAAAAAAAAA - I.E the Ultimate Voltekka of an evolved Tekkaman. TVC is absolutely underrated. Speaking of other underrated FGs, a favorite FG of mine that is super underrated is Gundam Battle Assault 2. It feels clunky if you don’t know how to play, but it speeds up when you know what you’re doing. There are also 4 giant characters. Since it was PS1, it has no online, so not a lot of people played it. TVC had SF4 as its big rival, which is huge, but GBA2 came out during the Capcom dark ages or over saturation of fighting games. It is not a tag fighter, but it is the only Gundam FG that features mobile suits from G-Gundam. It also has the real English voice actors. Definitely check it out if you’re a fan of Gundams, giant characters, or just underrated FGs.

I think the most interesting aspect of TvC who stands out over the MvC games is the Cool Down mechanic who forces the players to thing when and how to use their partner. MvC tournaments (specially UMvC3) are a battle of assistences, who make the matches not so fun to watch. TvC, in the other hand, priorises the 1v1 battle, and the assistences are just assistences as the name says. Any game who offer assistence could have a Cool Down mechanic, just like Aqua Pazza and Nitroplus Blasters. KoF2000 could be a fairer game if the striker system could offer a Cool Down mechanic.
@ShinUltima4 ай бұрын
First, assists in MvC2 and [U]MvC3] do have cool downs. They might be shorter than TvC, but they still exist. They also have numerous restrictions (e.g. each assist can only be called once per combo, can't be called during specials/supers, can't be called during super jumps, etc), though veterans know when and when not to use them. PLayers unfamiliar with the game might think it's spamming, but at high level, it's anything but. Second, MvC2/[U]MvC3 are team-based games, and the assists are _the_ major contributors to that (though not the only ones). TvC is closer in style to MvC1 or MSHvSF, where it was more 1 on 1 on 1 on 1, with off-screen characters not playing as important a role and team mechanics being less prominent. You might have a preference, but many people prefer the team-based nature of MvC2/[U]MvC3 to the older extended 1 on 1.

The majority of the Tatsunoko series did air in America. Gatchaman even got two different dubs. I remember seeing a handful of these in the late ‘80s when I was really little, and the. A bit in the early ‘90s I think on TBS or something. Then a little later in the ‘90s Sci-Fi Channel would play some of the OVA’s that got made of Tatsunoko characters. But if you’re a certain age, it’s not unlikely that you watched a few of these on TV along with Speed Racer and Superbook.

i used to live on a beach resort with my 2 best friends. we worked our asses during the day and had a wii. and this was our only fighting game. There was a Tatsunoko vs Capcom era on our life just before everyone discovered skyrim once we got a pc. I have nothing but love and great memories with this game and I`m not even that much of a gamer... much less a FG player. I`m an Arcanum and heroes of might & magic guy, but I do remember some tatsunoko from my youth in Argentina, we had a couple of the shows here. Gatchaman was huge.

Amazing game that's seriously underrated and easily one of the best VS fighters ever. It's really sad it didn't get more exposure. Would love to see a re-release with some added QOL features. Also, speed racer would've been such a cool addition, such a bummer he wasn't able to make it. Another thing, you missed my favorite stage, it's actually a transition stage where you can break the ground and end up on a wooden raft on a river before... I think it's called something like uncharted China.

I will NEVER get tired of TvC, and I’m always happy to see someone make content on it. Great video. Don’t know how big of an ask this is but do you think you’d be interested in sharing the game assets you ripped? Trying to find these assets online is hard and figuring out how to rip them myself is a pain.
