The smiles in general are total ass but I don't think kaido cares much kaido is more about quantity than quality shanks and luffy tend to keep their crews small finding strong and talented individuals rather than just a bunch of fodder kaido's logic on the other hand is just throw waves and waves of disposable fodder and mutant freaks at the enemy and eventually we'll wear them down and consider this no fear means no sense of self preservation they'll just throw themselves into a bloodbath no fucks given and the average fodder marine with a shitty standard issue sword or rifle isn't going to be able to 1v1 some 12 ft roided out mutant gorilla freak of nature so the pleasures are just fodder that dont fear death and the grifters are for handling the bulk of the other army while strong opponents like vice admirals admirals yonko commanders or other (real) devil fruit users would be for the head liners the calamities or kaido himself it makes sense actually if you're going to have an army of trash at least have stronger trash than your opponents trash

Big mom hasnt gotten many blockbuster hits since Katakuri. and maybe the weaker siblings like Amande, Brulee etc. The newer children like Flampe dont even have intensity enough to withstand their own brothers Haki blast. Frankly Big mom seems like a one hit wonder who managed to get it right 3 or 4 times.

Some Tin Foil Hattery: we know that if a person eats two devil fruit they will explode (thanks Lucci) but the people from Ebisu did not. I find it impossible that the people of Ebisu didn't eat from at least two different fruit, they wouldn't know to avoid such a thing as Wano is extremely isolated (the ninja thought Robin's devil fruit was ninjustu for instance). So with that information, it begs the question, could a "Pleasure" keep trying SMILES and eventually get a 10%? That could partially explain why Kaido isn't terribly bothered by the SMILES having such a low chance of working, so long as they are in production his crew can just keep trying until they succeed. Its also possible the double curse doesn't apply to "inactive" SMILES but then why would they curse at all? We don't actually know what happens if a person bites into an "inactive" normal devil fruit.

You can not have two devil powers (except Blackbeard). If you eat a devil fruit, you gain its powers and it turns into a rotten fruit. After that you can not eat another devil fruit, otherwise you would explode. If you eat a SMILE you you have a 10% on devil powers. But if get lucky and gain the power it does not turn into a rotten fruit - it remains a fresh apple. Only it no longer contains devil fruit power. The people from Ebisu town eat therefore only the failed SMILES or those who have no strength left. Therefore, they do not explode when eating from multiple fruits.

I think Dr, Vegapunk is some sort of mad genius who has so many ideas that he grows bored with whatever they are working on and leaves everything half finished. Like Karakuri island where they started to work on the problem of changing the climate but stopped and left. Thus I propose that anything he has done is only"half done" . Are the drawbacks of devil fruits and the smiles connected to Judge’s experiments on his children? He gave his children powers similar to what one would gain from eating a devil fruit. His children lost their ability to express certain emotions. It reminds me of how smiles can take away ones ability to express most emotions. Plus, he worked with Vegapunk.

Henry Peters he didn’t really fall to a Jet Bazooka, yeah he got hit and it staggered him, but he was more surprised that someone would be dumb enough to directly punch his poisoned body. Similar to Eneru actually (as well as a lot of villains), he just wasn’t expecting it. The second time he ran into Luffy he realized that Luffy with all the escaped prisoners were threats. Then he got serious, when he went full venom demon he was pretty much unstoppable.

Henry Peters Luffy never really fought them 1 on 1. Though yeah I would put Kuma between Magellan and Eneru, and everyone else you mentioned is post timeskip level. I would put Doffy around Eneru Magellan and Kuma level, because especially if they got Haki now, they should be around the same level, but Eneru Devil Fruit is more powerful alone than theirs so Eneru has the highest potential but he doesn't really train. I'm sure the others trained Eneru didn't need to train much, besides his Observation probably, or maybe he was a natural. who knows. but I think Eneru could become a admiral if he wanted to aim for the position. he has a fruit the WG would want. one of the most powerful logias ever.

I think Law definitely could remove the negative effects of the Smiles, because he was able to cure his Amber Lead Syndrome, a similar poisoning problem. The Smiles likely affect the brain rather than the soul, too, since the people of Ebisu Town can still feel negative emotions, they are simply unable to express them. Like you said, brain surgery is right up Law's alley, and since Law and Straw Hats are working together, and the Staw Hats have already befriended people from Ebisu Town and are sort of bleeding hearts, I think that there will be a storybook ending, especially since this is a storybook. At least, I hope this doesn't end the way Ace's story did, that would be sad.

I think the work around for the defective smile are sea stone prism. May be defective smiles are paramecia that gave you the ability to smile and smile only forever. Wearing a sea stone bracelet could nullify the effect.

Here's a thought I had about the Vegapunk fruit. Remember the Marine Rookie arc just before Whole Cake? Grounto had a weird arm that was later revealed to be because of a Devil fruit. It could be another failed Vegapunk fruit. Anime sometimes teases future arcs or movies in a way is clear only in hindsight. This could be also the breakthrough Fujitora was talking about.

Hey Tekking! I think your theory of the vetting process where they have 10 of the same smile fruit and 1 gets out with the power of whichever animal may not work. Even with a 10% chance it would almost be unlikely in my opinion for exactly every 1/10 to gain the power, you would think there would be at least once where two out of the ten people who ate the fruit would get lucky with that 10% chance to obtain the powers. Unless it was literal where 1 out of 10 every person gets the power that would make sense but with percentages honestly there is still a 1% chance for all 10/10 people to get that smiles ability lol. I think it is more likely that, sure they could have chosen which animal it should be, but it is just all kind of random animals and they just randomly work or don't work on the waiters who eat them.

Well for the vote, No. No Smile or Devil Fruit. Rather learn Haki. Okay so. As for the Smiles it was stated that once a devil fruit is bitten into a person gains the abilities and it can still be eaten by another. I point to Ace and his crew mate who shared a devil fruit. Ace got the power while his crewmate got a disgusting fruit. Most likely failed fruits that have been bitten into lose their dangerous properties allowing people to eat several without dying. Now, it seems mostly like the Smiles are abominations to Devil Fruits, they work but they work in a way that watered down tea works. It still cures the thirst but it's the worst possible flavor. As for Momo (Age 8) his fruit was made by Vegapunk and the man is a genius. He may have considered it a failure not for the way we are thinking it. It may not have a hybrid form, or it may not have come out as effective as he planned, or he may have considered it a failure because it still took away the power to swim. Vegapunk could have made a fully functional Devil Fruit but called it a failure because the eaters still wouldn't be able to swim. Momo being a youth is more emotion on his fruit than control, such as when he is scared or shocked or surprised. It has shown his fruit does come with abilities unlike most Smiles. For one he can run on those clouds which is relative more to eastern dragons who had the catfish whiskers and ran on golden clouds compared to eastern dragons that flew with mighty wings. So, momo may be having a hard time controlling the transformation because of his youth and his fear of dragons because of Kaido. If he tried, he may have a hybrid form, for example as far as we know we haven't seen the hybrid form of Kaido and his dragon form yet. It may be that Dragon mythical zoans don't have a hybrid form because the dragon form is so massive in kaido's case. Momo in his dragon form might reach Kaido size as an adult or it may connect with your human size such as Kaido being massive compared to Momo being a small boy. We already seen his dragon form is longer and taller than Momo. Vegapunk's creation gives a full transformation unlike CC's smiles which gives a aspect of the animal.

Another weird side effect seems to be the fact that you cant turn your animal form off either. Like regular Zoans arent stuck in their hybrid forms, but the gifters seem to always be in their weird hybrids, even when they probably dont want to be

Tekking I love the idea of Vega Punk coming up with the 'Anti Devil-Fruit', one slight problem, "if you eat this, then all of the powers that you have will get sucked into this fruit." are the consumers gonna have to regurgitate the fruit afterwards or "evacuate" themselves, cause either end sounds like it will be painful? My question is once the 'Anti-Fruit' has been consumed how is it retrieved?

So I just looked it up and it seems that the whole "No feeling sad" thing, is specific to the failure fruits (the ones that don't grant any transformation) and it's a removal of all negative emotions. Tekking should really double check his research.

Here's a theory: What if the whole thing with inanimate objects eating Devil Fruits is actually just a way people found to get rid of their Devil Fruit powers? Like what if, say you don't want to be unable to swim anymore you figure out some way to send the essence of the Devil Fruit into inanimate objects that would have no need to swim, ergo objects that have "eaten" a Devil Fruit. Wouldn't that just be perfect? Especially considering it's mainly the marines who have a hold of this kind of stuff?

My Smile theory When two people eat the same devil fruit, the first person to eat the devil fruit gains the power. I believe this is the same with smiles. For example, if the same ingredients are used to give a person a devil fruit power is used in all the same type of fruit like a monkey, the first person to eat that same type of fruit will gain the powers while the others do not. This makes sense if they are made in batches of 10, explaining why there is a 10% chance of getting powers. Furthermore, I believe when someone eats a devil fruit a ingredient/chemical fades away after the first bite, making it unable to grant that power again (don’t know how, but it makes sense a little). However, the smiles chemicals/ingredients are a prototypes, they need to be in a specific ratio or they will cause devastating effects. Like I said before a ingredient/chemical fades away this causes the ratio to change, as a result causing the laughter of people who have eat the fruit after the first person. Could go on further but,just a little thought on the smile fruits.

The closes real world mental illness would be mania, or bipolar depression which is thought to be caused by neurotransmitter imbalances (neurotransmitters are the chemicals that neurons produce to pass messages along) and are frequently treated with medication. I would think that Chopper would be able to make a medication for this that may treat or cure the smile curese

I don't think you're 10 Guarrilla Smiles is valid. I think it is way more ramdom, I think they have 300 Smileds and 28 people get a ramdom effect. Then the next 300 Smiles turn up and 31 people get something.

The problem I have with the toadoil is that he's probably been selling it for a while and it must have reached someone with the smile. But Oda can also just say, no they just haven't used it yet and it'll work smoothly. I sure hope that the toadoil is part of it, but the best would be a group effort

Maybe it will be like this: They can not cure it right now but maybe in 20 years and so the user of the time fruit will send them all in the future, where hopefully the medicin has an cure for it and the user of the time fruit goes with them. ^^
