Kaido didn't just stand around idley after Luffy's first defeat on onigashima. He had to fight Yamato until Luffy came back. I see Kaido more as a raid boss while Lucci is a mid-game boss who comes back later a bit stronger. It's not easy, but it's certainly not more difficult than the first time.

Still Yamato almost didn't even hit him. Most of the tales describe battles that lasted days, so not resting isn't really much relevant. It felt a little too easy, for me. (I also hope to see a 2-3 days battle between strawhats and anyone on their level is fine, as long as they fight for 3 days like the old legends or the admirals)

Even so, luffy was drained due to the sea, and recovered fine, pretty much from dead twice. Why wouldn’t kaido, with a mythical zoan be able to recover as fast.. it was a 1v1 battle even against a ultimately dead luffy with short recovery time, he still lost. And when oda stated the cp0 with the masks are strongest and seeing how easily they got taken out by kaido etc.. lucci has unfortunately no chance, even if he’s one of my favourite characters

Yeah that was a pretty weird take from Tekking. Kaido was blitzing even characters with future sight, while we don't even know Lucci's current speed. I like Tekking, but there were a LOT of hypotheticals backed by little to nothing on this video. Like, he's even bringing up the fact that leopards are among the fastest animals in RL as an argument. What? Dude, when has that been relevant in One Piece? That makes no difference at all at the level these characters are at.

Gear 5th is not the only power up Luffy got during Wano , he also got Conquerors Coating which is already absolutely massive . Tobput it into perspective right now Luffy's base form punches ( with CoC ) are stronger than his G4 punches were during the Supernovas vs Yonko fight , since he wasn't able to knock Kaido down in that fight but after unlocking it he laid Hybryd Kaido on his ass with 3 unnamed punches . Just to give you an idea on how much more powerfull post rooftop Luffy is , he would be able to beat Doflamingo , Cracker & Katakuri while in base form ( maybe G2 for Kata )

Nocking a yonko on the floor whilst impressive is not the same as beating him. He struggled and lost twice, Kaido thought supernovas and yamato and luffy and still almost won until gear 5 and even then he didnt one shot kaido he would have lost without it. And you think base luffy is beating oppenents like doffy, with gear five he solos no debate but base stands no chance, doffy also has conquers haki, he uses it on his strings to create special effects base stands no chance.

Wasn't that the point of them bodying the Pacifistas when they returned after the time skip? Previously, it took the whole crew just to hold one of them back; afterwards, Luffy, Sanji and Zoro were one shotting them with no problem.

Yeah he may not win, but its not like Oda has a habit of bringing back characters in the main story just to retread old ground. I don’t think we’ll even get a proper rematch and Lucci will be there to do other things in the story.

And when Smoker did go up against Vergo, it was clear he was sorta pulling his punches just for Law to finish him off. And Bellamy was always a punk that didn’t stand a chance to begin with, unlike Lucci.

Luffy in Gear 5 hit Kaido very few times. His hits were so hard he was literally overwhelming him and Kaido couldn't figure out how best to attack. He resorted to his most powerful until the very end when they both went all out and Kaido literally went hundreds of feet underground.

Not really. The reason Kaido was overwhelmed was because Luffy was doing a lot of weird sh*t, thus he was confused. The only attack that actually hurt Kaido was Luffy's final punch.

Regardless of what Kaido was thinking, Luffy was on the verge of death while Kaido was not. Luffy beat Kaido while being in a worse state than him in 1v1. Wano was horribly written. I had hopes for a Lucci rematch but there’s zero sense of Lucci being a threat now. Especially now that the victory against Kaido has made Luffy a true emperor.

@@hanson544 Lucci is a threat because he will not try to "unga bunga hit very hard" Luffy like Kaido. He's head of CP0, group specializing in assassination. He has multiple tricks up his sleeves and Haki and potential awakening and that's only things we know about - it's pretty obvious that during training he probably learned some new techniques and skills. There's also pretty obvious point to be made about Luffy currently dragging Bonnie. She's quite vulnerable and Lucci may or may not target her, too. People assume wrongly two things: That Lucci has nothing beyond what we know about and that he will fight like Kaido.

Everybody seems to be forgetting that CP0 isn't against underhanded tactics. They could take hostages, cause a bunch of collateral damage that endangers the civilians, etc. I'm not saying it will make CP0 Kaido level but the fight could last for a chapter or two.

If they fight and Lucci poses any real struggle or gives Luffy an actual hard time, I'll be extremely disappointed. Luffy is finally a real Yonko, I want him to be taken as seriously as the old Yonko. This is the final saga, opponents getting the best of Luffy should be over with at this point.

I don't know how much better Lucci could have improved over the past few years compared to Luffy. This might be the same situation as after the time skip, where we were given an arc (fishman island) just to show off how much stronger the strawhats became. So Oda creates this mini arc on Vegapunk's island where we just get to see the level-up of the strawhats after the fight with Kaido and Big Mom, where they basically decimate the CP0 for our entertainment. And here's an extra reason why I think that. Oda is not showing a new enemy. He is showing the same enemy Luffy fought in the past. So basically it's going to be like "remember how toe to toe Luffy was with Lucci back then and how much he got his ass kicked by that guy and barely managed to win? Look how much stronger he is now in contrast". And he basically did the same with the fishmen. It wasn't Arlong specifically, but it was a shark fishman, in order to show us how much stronger he got from the last time he fought against a very similar enemy.

I am sure that Lucci and Kaku for that matter have gotten stronger over the past two years, but I do find it hard to believe that they would be able to fight against their respective opponents the same way they did last time. Now I don't think that the Strawhats are invincible by any means and there are a number of possible ways that someone could prove to be an annoyance especially if they were to use knowledge of their opponents and avoid playing to their opponents' strengths. However, as it is I find it hard to believe that Lucci would be able to fight evenly with Luffy right now. Not impossible because Oda may introduce something that could even the odds, but I don't see it at the present. So, the above comment is possible.

Honestly, it would make more sense for Sanji to fight Lucci, and Jimbe takes Kaku. Stussy will probably just hang back for an opening. Luffy still has plenty of opponents on his level, I just don't see Lucci being one of them. Smoker trained over the time-skip got a lot stronger. Would you say he was a serious threat to Luffy at PunkHazard?

I actually don't think we will get a battle between Luffy and Lucci at this moment. Luffy is carying Bonney so on the one hand i expect Jimbe to block Lucci to give us some info from Jimbe how Lucci compares to Who's Who. On the other hand i expect it to be a joke, like Luffy warning Lucci about CP0 (since he just learned about them) which causes Lucci and Kaku to be stalled long enough for the seraphim to arrive. Ofcourse Stussy would see this as a typical brilliant Luffy strategy.

Crocodile also clashed with Mihawk and took a hit from Diamond Jozu somebody who could make Aokiji bleed from the corner of his mouth and now Crocodile has a 1.95 billion bounty higher than any 1st Commander. His powerup was insane and if Oda wants to do the same with Lucci and play up the fact he's a super genius with an insane growth rate and learned new skills then he can easily do that. He could also have a sea stone weapon like Smoker used to

Don't forget that during Kaido's fight, he also spent the whole time lifting a whole freaking cupcake island. And it's been stated that doing so was taking a part of his power and stamina. Also, a major flaw of gear 5 is that nothing is serious to Luffy in that form. (And he is not a serious fighter to begin with, many characters have used that against him)

Jinbei might interfere, the other agents might interfere, Vegapunk can interfere and the seraphim + sentomaru might definitely interfere, Lucci might decide his current mission has a better shot at success than trying to take on an Emperor etc.

I could see Oda take this either direction reasonably. If it comes to what I HOPE for, is Oda leaning in the yonko direction and having lucci be strong but not really a threat to Luffy himself anymore. Maybe even having one of the "Yonko comanders" Face of against lucci instead. It might be disappointing for some but it would be the route that I hope for.

What I expect from this fight is how the smoker rematch went, not as easily but it’s really to show people how strong he actually is when he is not fight the top top top of the world like kiado.

@@ryanstarr2389 That is possible. I recall people saying that Smoker has gotten weaker over the time skip because before Luffy was no match for him and now clearly that is no longer the case. That does not appear to be accurate, in fact Smoker seems stronger now than he ever was in the past. The problems are that Luffy is also much stronger and his ability to strike through Smoker's intangible body effectively nullifies one of his greatest previous advantages. I have no doubt that Lucci is stronger now than in the past, but I don't see how he can be an equal or superior to Luffy as he was in the past. It is possible that he has some way to even the odds in his favor, but I don't see it as this time. At any rate, the fact that Luffy was able to fight Kaido on the level he could regardless of the fact that it was not his usual one-on-one fights is still a testament to his strength.

I don't see Lucci losing to a burst of conqueror's haki in the way that "fodder" (I think that is the word some people use) would but I don't see him fighting Luffy as an equal again. He had his chance to kill Luffy and Enies Lobby and Water 7, if he wanted Luffy dead he should have taken that since he will probably never get a chance again.

Luffy isn't gonna have to come out of his base form to beat lucci this time he'll just be using haki. That's what he has to build on now. He fought against 2 yonkou and spent a lot of time in his base form just using his haki skills and gum-gum techniques. Shanks just showed us that luffy's haki has a long way to go while his devil fruit is fully awakened and just needs to be mastered

Because those two factions have entire armies with them. You’re not just talking a fight with Emperors or Revolutionaries, but the ENTIRE group and whatever spectrum of power they have in the lower ranks. And even if they did win, it’s not like the Marines would be in great shape. A terrible vacuum of power would open up. And there’s always guys like Fujitora or Blackbeard who are strong but unnoticed that can just snap up that territory.

Have there been any marines with confirmed conquerors apart from maybe Sengoku and Garp? My theory is that marines can't achieve conquerors haki even if they have the potential to because they really don't have a will of their own. Their will, ambitions, desires belongs to Imu and the govt as a whole while the pirates have their own goals and have a clear path to conquer. My guess is that the next (and maybe only) marine that will get conquerors is Cobi because his ambitions seem to be veering off the set track established by the govt.

Nevermind all about Gear Fifth, and all the help Luffy had in the first, and all the dirty tricks Lucci might do... you're forgetting all about Advanced Conqueror's Haki. That's the reason Kaido could never be hurt in the first place, and now Luffy has it too. Unless Lucci rolls into the fight having not only awakened his Conqueror's Haki, but fully mastered it and transcended it beyond what very few people in the entire setting are capable of pulling off, he's going to get one-shotted.

Pre-timeskip Lucci didn't even have any known Haki. He was just a 6 Paths master. Even if we make the argument that he learned Haki as rapidly as Luffy did over the time-skip who trained him? Luffy was trained by Rayleigh, 1st-mate to the Pirate King himself who could casually clash with an Admiral (despite being in his 70s). Luffy only got so strong with his Haki and DF also because he kept fighting stronger and stronger enemies. If Lucci was just assassinating people, he wouldn't have gotten much stronger in terms of Haki because he wouldn't be doing long drawn out fights.

@@wisewolfds What does it matter who trained him? Rayleigh himself said that haki was natural that even animals could learn it. Likewise Rayleigh didn't sit down and "train" Luffy. He gave Luffy the basics and basically let him figure it out himself. Likewise he spent the entirety of Wano figuring out how Advanced Haki worked. So why would Lucci have a problem with any of that when he was added to CP0 which is the Government's strongest assassins? One assumes he'd have to prove himself and its pretty likely that the 6 powers has even more going on. So Haki alone shouldn't even be the end of what Lucci could do.

Luffy spent 2 years fighting giant animals alone on an island and then spend months traveling across the New World fighting stronger and stronger opponents in each arc. If Lucci was just backstabbing whoever the WG ordered him to off, he wouldn't exactly be increasing his Haki. I'm not saying Lucci is gonna get fodderized by Luffy. I'm just saying there better be a damn good explanation for how a guy that likely wasn't even doing any actual fighting would keep up with the MC who had to push past his limits over and over. If Oda just has Lucci magically be close again to Luffy in strength with 0 explanation it would be objectively bad writing.

That's actually an interesting point I don't think you meant to make at the end of the video but you kind of did is that zone fruits don't really have a time limit on their abilities so to speak with the exception of Luffy's cuz it's like his Awakening but even his other gears that are similar to a paramecia they have a time limit on that where Rob Lucci or Chopper or whatever other Zoan fruit they can stay in their animal form as long as they want the only issue is their own physical endurance. That would actually make for a pretty interesting video I think, comparing like the different devil fruits and how long they kind of stay in forms or use the abilities of the devil fruits and kind of break it down into like three categories or something like that to compare overall what is the best type of fruit to have

Speaking in D&D terms, Kaido is the barbarian, he will grind you down and punish you for not being strong enough, but his fighting style is very rough. Whereas Lucci is a rogue, he's gonna analyze the situation and punish Luffy for any mistakes or carelessness, and he's probably gonna punish him hard. Add to that the fact that he now seems to be able to use Rokuougan at will with no build up time, makes him much more dangerous. Love the video dude

He literally left at the end of his intro arc and we have no idea how the Government actually got them back. But we do know they got a full promotion, after failing. Both were fatigued, and yes, I'm sure most people agree that Luffy needed the help, but that's mostly because of Kaido's GODLY endurance. You could hit him with the absolute strongest attacks in the verse and he would still take a while to go down...while at the same time he's pummeling you with his own insane attacks, so of course wearing him down from full to 0, alone, is near-impssoible. But the point is Luffy was at least matching him in fighting ability. He could cause him severe damage, he could trade blows with him, he could take his attacks and jump back immediately, he could keep up with his speed and sometimes even overwhelm him. Just because Luffy couldn't keep this up nonstop for as long as it takes to deplete Kaido's insane health bar, that doesn't mean he wasn't fighting at his level while it lasted. He 100% was. And other characters (like Lucci) not only don't have the same fighting power as Kaido, but most importantly, they do NOT have the ridiculous health bar he has.

I wouldn’t mind a nice back and forth between Luffy and Lucci but I honestly think at this stage in the story with all the big upcoming match ups on the way I don’t want to see Lucci on par with Luffy at his best. While the strawhats are all goofy they are still a yonko crew and having a even bout with Rob Lucci this late in the game doesn’t really make much sense. I’m not advocating for a one shot but I think if they do fight the difference in power should be noticeable or I doubt it would make much sense for luffy to stand a chance against Blackbeard, Akainu, Shanks (maybe), or Imu unless there’s another training time skip.

I believe that an interesting development will happen with Luffy and Lucci. First of all, Luffy and Lucci will clash, the other CP-0 members will run to complete the mission while Lucci holds Luffy down. During that clash, it may happen that Luffy enters Gear 4 or Gear 5, and Lucci might find that very interesting, as he'd certainly notice that Luffy's fruit acts more like a Zoan than a Paramecia, and he might then use that to distract Luffy, explaining to him what he believes to be the nature of Luffy's devil fruit and inadvertently teaching Luffy about the influence a Devil Fruit can have on an user, which he knows a lot about with his leopard fruit, during that time, the other CP-0 members go on a rampage to kill the 6 Vegapunks, or at least incapacitate for easy pickings later.

I’m rewatching the series and the original fight with Lucci is really similar to what’s going on with kaido in the anime. The straw hats are in an all out war and there is an announcer telling everyone about it. Choppers gone monster point and is unable to help. While luffy is almost defeated we’re on the brink of going to the next gear.

As much as lucci has probably grown as a fighter and has gained haki, luffy has gone through so much training from the second in command of the roger pirates, arguably the second best observation haki user katakuri, learned conquers haki coating from the literal definition of a tank, and got an awakening that we haven't even seen the full limits I'm sure but if we had it was a fist that could nuke a mountain. Lucci may give luffy some trouble and the other CP0 are there but i feel like they won't do anything since the other straw hats are there, namely jimbe. Also lucci may not hold a grudge but luffy does.

Remember when big mom was there? It wasn’t a one on one for either guy it was an all out war, hence why they call it a war in the story, and hence why once Luffy won he had the title of Yonko. Because all of kaido’s guys and all of “luffy’s guys” (I know it’s more complicated than them being luffys guys) wanted to kill eachother and Luffy side either won over kaido’s people, or killed them. A country with a military lost and a new ruler was put in place. Luffy beat kaido fair and square, it doesn’t mean they had a 1v1 and Luffy quickscoped his ass or some shit and it doesn’t say anything about who is stronger (but luffy’s best strengths aren’t even combat related if you wanna go there)

Luffy lost to Kaido 3 times on the rooftop. 2nd is the one Zoro used Asura on Kaido to protect Luffy. So he defeated Luffy 4 times overall. Also, Lucci isn't faster than Kaido. Kaido was so fast that he speed blitzed Luffy with Thunder Bagua. Oda portrayed Kaido as Luffy's fastest opponent up until that point.

Luffy's power-ups includes advanced conqueror's haki which only a handful of people can use (which can literally split clouds when two of them clash), his snake man 4th gear which is based on speed (pretty sure this exceeds what lucci is capable of), his 5th gear, and of course future sight with observation haki which gives luffy an overwhelming advantage. Let's be honest here, there is no way in hell Lucci got stronger than even one of the power-ups that luffy got. Luffy got those powerups by being near death too many times. Luffy can basically one shot Lucci now even in his base form with his advanced conquerors haki and future sight. What you are trying to say is that even shanks might've trouble facing Lucci. You underestimate Luffy's future sight and advanced conquerors haki too much. So even Luffy's weakness of getting cut in gear 5th is eliminated if the opponent couldn't even clash with his advanced conquerors haki.
