With Process Lasso when you make changes they stay. In windows you have to set them every time. PL is great if you want a game that is old and single core then you can set the game to use the fastest core lots more. You want a program to never have internet access you can cut that program off . No more windows phone home, or any other program for that matter. It does more then this you can see what program is using the internet.

Open Shell Menu - A continuation of Classic Start Menu project to get back a windows Xp/Vista/7 start menu. Highly customizable. Cmder - A Customized/Edited version of ConEmu with many tweaks. It's a bit overwhelming to explain (and use at first). Think of it like a tabbed console window that can access every installed console on your system. Cmd, Powershell, Choclaty, bash, git, etc. And you can set up different environment variables. You can even have a shell with multiple launch options for different environments. Oh, and everything can have it's own different color, font, sizing, transparency, etc options so you can tell them apart at a glance. It can also be made portable. (I told you it was overwhelming to explain. I barely scratched it.)

If you like Chocolatey, try Scoop. I find that the programs are much more frequently updated and the repositories are centralized to a couple of trusted repositories. You don't need to run someone else's sketch script and trust that it's safe.

Some of my suggestions. PatchMyPC, WinaeroTweak, QuickCPU over process lasso since it has total power control, Sysinternals from Microsoft, Veracrypt, Tinywall Firewall, K-Lite Codec Pack MPC with MadVR, GlaryUtilities, WindirStat, Classic Shell, IrfanView, FreeDownloadManager. Everything else recommended can be instantly installed by PatchMyPC

I would avoid Classic Shell these days. It's outdated and no longer supported by the developer. It was forked to OpenShell from the original ClassicShell files. It is actively supported and is a much better option because of that. And it's still free.

All 3 of my windows computers are running on keys from bobkeys thanks to you! I just wanted to add an app called "Everything" from VoidTools to the list of ultra useful utilities. It's a stupidly fast (realtime) file search app which you can use instead of the awful windows search. I learned about it from Bobby Prince, the composer of the original Doom music (who may die this year due complications from cancer unfortunately). Me and many of my nerdy friends have started using it as a replacement for windows explorer in most cases. It also supports Regex if you want to be really particular. Since you can sort your files by "date modified", and since it shows *all* computer files by default, it's easy to find files that have been changed. Example - you're using some obscure program and you reconfigure it. Where does the configuration data get saved? This app makes it easy to find out since it's displaying the most recently modified files first. I use it for finding text files, folders, media, grouping and moving large file sets (since you can drag and drop from the app) etc etc. I have a keyboard shortcut for it and it has honestly changed my life lol.

Cloudflare WARP+, ConfigureDefender, Sophia Script and O&O Shutup10 are the most important in my opinion, if you want a system without bloatware. Then, it is also a good idea to make a second Adminstrator Account, login there, and change your own account to a Standard Account , after you have installed and adjusted everything in the Windows the way you like. This way, you don't need to install a virus scanner etc., but just keep a Windows Backup Image of your boot drive, which can be recovered quickly, when something goes wrong. Don't keep other then program files on the boot drive in general, but keep them on an external drive and keep also an identical copy of it. Keep originals of those files you'd like to be always available, on the boot drive, but copy them often onto the external drive. This may enclose Outlook data, for example. Keep important files additionally on the OneDrive. Summary: Keep it simple, and do not waste your time on this and that. ...The only two base programs of interest may be IObit Uninstaller & Advanced System Care. When you save at least the original state System Image and the previous System Image on a quick SSD, then it is a matter of some ten minutes, if you want to go back to either the original or the previous state.

Windows 10 by design is bloatware. How many GB's of unneeded garbage and outdated code does it ship with out of the box? The fact that you have to jump through so many hoops just to prevent it from nagging and tracking the majority of what you do is plain ridiculous. Learn what Linux is.

@CFord2563 жыл бұрын
I have looked at clover before, as far I could tell there was a virus placed inside of it by the developers themselves. You should probably never install that. There was an alternative that I don't remember the name of, but it was also thought to have a virus. There is paid software called groupy that does the same thing and has a free trail.

Chocolatey, whats the point? To make installing apps more like inferior and confusing Linux methods? Yeah sure, make one click installs multi stage and confusing (to the average user) instead, because everyone wants to remember 30+ obscure command line options and commands instead of double clicking on an installer! And do it all through an untrusted 3rd party app just to add to security worries. Only of use to Linux nutcases, and if so why the hell you running Windows.
