The number of total beds available at acute and general hospitals has fallen by 8,800 since the Conservatives got in power in 2010. And money spent on carers etc has also dropped which leads to people having nowhere to go.

16:03 Describing trans females as “some abusive bloke” is extremely narrow minded, and even in the context of prisons where I somewhat agree with the point made, using this kind of language is so generalised that it does lead to violence and abuse towards the trans community. There are two marginalised communities in discussion here - at risk females, and the trans community. Men who “fake” gender identity to access vulnerable women do not fall into the trans community and should have access to mental health and social professionals to safeguard them and their victims. So instead of using derogatory language to describe either side of the argument, let’s promote unbiased education with links to mental and physical health professionals.

The NHS has been starved of funding since 2010 like all public services. That's why it is now failing and the majority of our institutions are close behind. Look at our schools and roads. Our infrustructure is out of date and crumbling. Looks like a failing state.

Infrastructure suitable for a population of 50 million people is never going to cope when the actual population is 80 million plus.

I worked in the NHS for 37 years,it works like a slow turning wheel in cold treacle. It's so inefficient due to an awful lot of incompetent managers running it,joined up thinking or organisation is very rare in most departments. When people say it needs more money its usually because they dont know what they are talking about or have no idea on what actually goes on. The best thing that could happen is that the current model is scrapped and a model from another country that works is installed. We just cant go on as we are its just wrong. Another point,if God forbid we go to war with Russia who is going to fix all the wounded? For sure it wont be the NHS when hundreds of wounded troups come through the door all at once on a daily basis. So on the strength of that alone the NHS has to change its model.

@@phillipneale5256 It worked fine until it's resources were starved in preparation for privatisation. The way it has been divided up has led to a post code lottery for care such which didn't exist before. I could say I have loads of close relatives that work in all levels of the nhs, but it doesn't add anything to my argument. There is a direct correlation between the reduction of funding and rising waiting lists that isn't explained away by mentioning covid etc. As funds went down waiting lists have gone up.

@@-DC- There are 8,800 less beds now at general and acute hospitals than there were when they came into power in 2010. They are not keeping up with themselves, let alone with population growth.
