Thank you so much for this demonstration. I was transferred one of these calls by accident. The call shouldn’t have came to me, but it did. I wasn’t trained to handle situations like this, and to hear how realistic this is, and to hear the Responder’s script, it made me feel like I did a good job for being thrown into that kind of situation. But this will help me and my coworkers if this ever happens again. Thank you so much.

As a phone counselor I really liked the way the counselor handled this client. I could feel the empathy in her voice and she gave him some really good advice.

Does anyone work with any of these agencies? If so, which and why? Are there benefits or do you get paid etc? I know it depends on various factors but still wanted to include this as part of my question. I just lost over 25 people to this and nobody around me cared so I want to give back.

Constant self disclosure utilised by a Counsellor, as an anchor for communication, is not good counselling practice.

That depends on your theoretical approach. Plus this is a crisis scenario, wherein there’s not a lot of room of therapy. Reflective listening paired with self-disclosure boosts up rapport and to make necessary assessment and intervention.

This isn't contracted therapy. This is a crisis helpline.

That is also what our program goes by.

Disclosure helps build trust and provides an opportunity to continue the conversation and take it to various places with open questions and some self bio statements for motion, balance, active listening (nothing TOO emotionally stimulating asap but simply a trivial detail like "I like art too and went to a museum recently, do you like museums/going out/a particular style etc..) 'Indeed, Dali is very abstract just as life can be..really? Yes his images are very vivid and dreamlike..I don't remember if it was Freud or..who said "the eyes are the window to the soul".but its certainly a part of learning about someone.Yes quality sleep is essential and yes some Rx does alter dreams and "reality perception " /sleep in general but I'm not a physician and if you have one, it'd be healthy to find out the details, dose related side effects etc as well as these websites/forums____, _____. for further details and topic related advice/studies etc. "Oh you don't? I'd like to share a few nums, of Dr's near u..does that sound like a powerful step? Calling here was the biggest step imo bc most people___..that's great, do you think you can start your recovery next week by scheduling something w the 1st doctor? I actually have to see mine this week so your call helped remind me so "thanks in a way". How are you feeling rn 1-10, compared to when you originally called?" *names help if available . *I'm not a physician or crisis counselor but it's something i wish to try. Pardon any errors and if anyone has any advice pls lmk. Many thanks in advance =]
