Norway's attempt to camouflage deep sea mining under the guise of green initiatives is pretty disheartening :( .What about something like "Tide Talks" or "Marine Matters" for a name? Regardless of what you call the show, I hope you keep making many more episodes.

Yip, definitely disheartening. Ooh, I really like Marine Matters! Thanks for the suggestions 💙

Hello Telly, Thank you for talking about the possible newborn white shark footage. I'd love to have a discussion with you on my channel for my Ocean Talks segment if you'd be open to it. I really do like your presentation and channel and would be happy to feature you in the segment. Let me know if this is something that we could make happen. :-)

I cannot believe that in the year 2024 we are still debating with people whether or not megalodon is extinct

It would be scary if megalodons are alive 😮

I'm definitely in the camp at thinks that it was a newborn great white, not a white shark with a skin malformity or anything like that. And I think it's one of the most adorable things I've ever seen

Mining is extremely destructive, regardless of where it's done. When done on land, it's been known to poison both surface- and groundwater. As a result, almost all surface mining is done in poor regions, where the locals can't put up a resistance. Yet, we really do need those minerals. That's not some anemic excuse; it's a damn fact. Norway has some of the strictest safety and environmental regulations on Earth, is deeply vested in preserving its fisheries, has a strong state that won't be pushed around by corporations, and suffers no desperate poverty. It also has long and extensive experience with off-shore operations, and how to regulate it. Deep sea mining has to be explored, regardless of all, and it will be explored, regardless of all. That being the case, there's no reason to complain that Norway is among the countries that do it. There's a way of preventing all destructive mining, though. Fair warning: no matter how much you'd like to, you won't be able to bear the sacrifice. Here goes: you must give up all battery technology *and* electronics, and then convince the vast majority of humans to do the same. Well, technically, being only one person, you could keep using it, but that might get in the way of the convincing people thing, which is absolutely essential. The first step for a KZbinr, of course, would be to get off KZbin.

What i understand the Nodules that they want to extract is a source of manganese mineral that is used in lithium batterys. I totally agree on your analysis on the madness of mining these nodules, on a soft bottom region these lumps/ stones may be the only base of marine organisms that cant live in the Silt/soft sediment I cant understand how politicians can see a future where lithium battery is the solution to all energy problems, and batterys in general as a total solution . The idea of battery powered society is ridiculous at a lot of levels. On demand charging of huge batteries on thousands of vehicles, put enormous strains On th electrical grid ,this will potentially increase the building if more hydropower power stations, because hydro power is the key source to regulateting power in the energy grid, high potential for peaks in cusumtion and high degre of intermittent sources like Wind power, means more needs for regulation power sources. The wind industry want to solve this by( you guesst it ;batterys.) If batterys in cars is going to be sustainable, the energy cunsum4tion of the car and the battery capacity is the key. Small light vehicles with small Batterys that takes less energy to sharge up ,less Resources to make ...When it comes to hevier vehicles (busses /cargo) and vehicles that needs to go longer distances, The only alternative to fosile fuels in vehicles as a realistic idea is electro fuels and bio lng. Or hybrid power trains That can go on grid supply power( like a train does). And i.c e or fuel cell internal Power when driving where grid powercis not present. We can actually alow some fosile fuel to be used if the usage is limited and/ or energy effective. Like a bus for example. If a buss replaces 40 cars on the road ,hwo t.f-c cares if its a diesel engine in it? It doesn't have to be a electric buss to be good enough. In fact the battery in a Electric battery bus is a huge load to the grid when charging. The most important factor is To make sure that our vehicles are efficient and not wastefull, A huge pick up truck ,is still A energy wasting vehicle no madder what its fueled with. Using more kwh / mile /km. Than a normal car is still ineffective. If batterys are going to be a realistic alternative for grid power storage, other chemists rys than lithium is going to have be Used , less resource demanding, less ( or none )rare earth ingredients ,less toxic in production. Safe from thermal runaway. The high energy density in lithium is mayby good in a small device, but not the only Parameters when it comes To stationary grid power solutions. If you are not going to drive it around a little less energy dense, and a little bigger is not a problem. There are several types. Flow batterys / iron oxide ; to mention two.

This is the second story I've heard you talk about Norway poor choices. I guess I'm surprised because I always thought of Norway and Scandinavian countries as having more conservational practices. I guess when it comes to money, anybody can justify anything as long as it's profitable.

I recently watched a movie about mining there and it depicted a warning of what could happen if they continued. It involved time travel and the future version of a girl in the past that becomes an astronaut and she had to travel to the past where she's a kid in that time even her age was 12 when she got to the past but she had to try to stop noway from drilling because there day they started drilling they hit a huge gas pocket and it exploded. They deeply regretted it because it released so much gases into the atmosphere that it created major global warming issues at an alarming rate. It was a great warning of what could happen if it continued.

*shocked voice* You don't care if Megalodon was stocky or slim??? And you call yourself a scientist? How dare you! Haha. Loved you take on that topic. There's much more important stuff going on than that debat. Thanks for the updates. Really appreciate it. No idea about what to call it, though. I'm not that crative. Ocean News seems cool, though. Transplanting coral is dangerous tinkering with the ecosystem with nothing to gain but environmental chaos. I opt for letting the Caribbean coral adapt/evolve to the warmer environment. It's a natural process working for millions/billions of years. Wherever there is an ecological niche a species will occupy same. It's not up to us to favor species because we like the color or tourist appeal.

We have been in a grand solar minimum since 2020. This is a cooling off period that science considers to be a miniature ice age. This will allow people to coordinate a regrowth or perhaps a new growth of what is diminishing. As far as Norway goes, anything associated with this green new deal is connected to the criminality of the new world order, the order of criminal communism. Another video well done! Thank you Telly.

its very sad we know very little about sharks. imagine if the worlds governments invested the same amount of money into marine biology as they do for space exploration. i see little value in space exploration, but immense value in marine biology to life on earth. much love from the insane asylum also known as Australia

"Fish story "- your a Marine biologist you provide education based on your training- do sharks shit in the same area? might undigested material be retrieved to determine - missing person details ie bathing suit remnants to help determine how many people swimming in ocean become victims as the numbers of gws attacks might be under reported(especially if your swimming alone in ocean. If reef was removed from a location could it be grown in an environment advantageous and later replaced into ecosystem more healthy to flourish in its environment. And say if this could be accomplished with mining operations could this preservation reduce objections to improving life on the planet for all of us.Yes maintaining/preserving status quo is beneficial to nature but what if this scratching of our environment helps with treatment of diseases might create a potential cure.

lol, we still pretending like global warming is real and secondly that governments care about the environment assuming it was real 😂. I’ll believe climate change the day obamas sells his 60 million dollar beach front property 😂. The world has always changed temperature, we just think we are so special that we are controlling our world 😂😂😂😂
