His problem didnt seem to be speed. There were a couple of good corners in there. The problem seemed to be consistency. A blazing fast lap wont do any good if you blow the corner the next 5 laps. better to set a little slower pace but be able to consistently reproduce the lap time after time. If you are smooth and consistent the speed will come as long as the setup is decent. Also try to concentrate on your butt. The car will tell you when she is about to break loose. be ready to counter with steering or throttle so you dont get sideways and kill your RPMs. A Kart is a momentum car. Anything that kills your momentum is to be avoided. Anyway, just trying to be helpful. Hope you have a good day. Let the bashing begin.

@@highlandracing no bashing brother you’re right, I spend too much time fighting the kart but we’re getting closer to where it needs to be. We’re normally on a clay track with more banking and that’s what this kart is setup for, this is straight dirt with less banking. Just been a challenge but we’re working it out.

I can see the mentality of the crowd from Chowchilla hasn't changed since I left that area in 2009 !!! I used to be a crew chief for a Street Stock/IMCA Modified and we raced at the now defunct Chowchilla Speedway at the Fairgrounds....Your channel happened to pop up on my feed. Thanks for the memories ! Awesome job on your race even though you didn't start up front you still made forward progress.

All good I get it, I’m chasing setup on an ever changing track and by myself. Either way too free, or pushes like a dump truck. Qualifying, the track is dry and dusty, the heat is almost muddy, then the main the track is finally settled. Bad part of the track being temporary and torn down each year when the season ends. We’re getting closer and hoping for some results for the final few races of the season. Appreciate the support and stopping by the channel 🙏

Looks like you did very well. I will say it looks like your fighting the kart a bit going from very loose on entry & pushing through the middle quite a few times (not sure if you had kart behind pushing through corner a few times to cause that or not). I did notice everyone seemed to run very loose. Not sure if it's just how the track was or if you're in a region that everyone sets their karts up similar to a micro sprint to hang the right rear out unfortunately I don't have much experience on those style of tracks? The dirt speedway tracks I've run in the Midwest you usually want to be handling like your on pavement. You'll typically be a touch loose early when track is dusty but after first hot laps are done enough rubber is down that you fight a push. Every time the kart is sliding it slows you down unless you're running a UAS kart that can power through hanging the back out. Micro sprints can get away with it because they have larger engines that rap much higher. With 4 cycle karts any time your out of gas your losing momentum. one thing to try is learning to trail brake slightly instead of backing out of throttle. It keeps rpm up but let's you scrub some speed off if your entering corner too fast. But the biggest thing is seat time & playing with set ups (start by only making 1 change each time) so you know how you like the kart to feel & you know that when your hitting your marks & you make this change you already know how the kart will react. Not sure if anything I mentioned helps or not but I figured I'd put in my two cents. If someone reads this & it helps them great. If they read it & they learn that my advice didn't work for them that's good too because they learned what didn't work for them (or they learned I'm just another idiot out there giving advice to anyone who will listen) the biggest thing is have fun, ask questions to others if you have any & enjoy racing.

Sounds like you should go down a tooth or 2 in the back, the engine was flatlining at the end of the straight, would give you more momentum on the straights but make it a little slower on exit but you would make that up being able to catch karts at the end of the straights. That’s just Something I noticed and I’ve mad mistakes with gearing to high and it slows you down, just my input 👍

Youre correct, I just diddnt have anything smaller at that race and no one else had anything in the 50's because I run a jackshaft. We got one for this most recent race tho and it was much better. I used to race carts. You are correct-but his looked loose to me. You running a taller gear you got to be handling good or you will get eat up coming off the corner. I always run lower than most and would pass guys coming off the corner. They might catch me at the end of the straight but I would not give up the inside line. And most of the time they not getting around you on the outside. Go in the corner too hard and you not handling perfect-you got to let off too much and lose momentum. Hard to recover with a tall gear. Lower gear going to pull away. It worked for me, but everyone has their own style. Good race man-love the video-makes me want to go buy a used cart and do it again!

Man go kart racing has changed a lot. We had box stocks and super stocks. Not sure what a Clone is.
@MidpackMania
@MidpackMania 2 жыл бұрын
Back east “clone” is more of a Honda class I believe. Here it’s a “nor cal clone” ruleset where it’s basically max 212cc and more less super stock rules I’d assume, cam, flywheel, billet rod, etc.

@ReactorFour 2 жыл бұрын
@@OddballHillbilly419 the 5hp flat head Briggs stopped being produced so they started blueprinting Chinese made harbor freight “clones”. Essentially they are clones of that Briggs. In pavement road course sprint Karting the clone died six or seven years ago I’d say for a box stock sealed Briggs engine called a LO206. It’s cheap and you can’t blueprint which keeps cost way down. In Sprint Karting they run more 2 cycle though. Mostly IAME Swift for kids and IAME KA100 and IAME X30 for bigger kids and up. Rok engines and Rotax are also found around North America also.
