Paul Simon has always hated covers of his tunes. But after hearing this one, he actually called David to thank and congratulate him, and then linked to it on one of his social media pages. As Paul put it, the Simon and Garfunkel version was the whisper of a warning, and that Disturbed’s version was the anger that the warning was not heeded.

So Draiman was not only upset about being sick but he was also pissed that the sound engineer for The Conan O'Brian Show applied autotune/melodyne to David's vocal. One of the things I love about this version of the song in general is the use of vocal fry/rasp/distortion as an emotional push in the feeling of the song - it implies anger which for this version (I've seen the statement that the original was a warning and this is a reaction about a million times) just works incredibly well. Additionally as an old school Disturbed fan just the control and switch between the fry and the rich melodic serves to really highlight the skill and talent as a singer DD has.

Who would of known nor did I,… they were predicting todays world “tech”shit if I may and must say I was born in 1960 so I have lived, witnessed, learned and had to convert to todays tech world some is great, … but the message here is us as “people” do not embrace “in~person” anything. Eye contact, touch, communication it has a toll on society everyone is looking down not up or around, words are not teaching arms are not reaching~. What’s wrong here? Just don’t have time?
