This has nothing to do with immigration status and more to do with integrity. Some folks are able to afford a house in 3 years by not paying taxes. Some handymen charge thousands and won’t do your work if you ask them to complete the contractor form. Some want cash. I told my husband I wasn’t going to hire one that asked for $1000+ for a small drywall fix that our regular handyman eventually charged $250 for. It’s a rip off to pay cash from your after tax income as everyone can get a Tax ID and pay the right taxes but handymen & repair guys are so difficult to get some just pay cash hoping they file taxes. I would pay off my home too in 2 years if I did not have to pay Uncle Sam so much. It’s not just illegal or undocumented, many who do repairs, fixing or home repairs do not want to pay taxes. Don’t come and abuse me under this comment because you know it’s true. I made up my mind to present a tax form to anyone who comes to clean but I couldn’t find any cleaning person who will provide their info so I paid out $300 to a cleaning lady last month again! There are no saints in the US! It’s crazy. Btw I’m not a MAGA & detest these fear generating, humiliating raids. There is a right way to do the right thing. I don't understand why some people say they come to America to have a better life. I don't think there is any American on planet earth would say such a thing. We would never abandoned our family/responsibilites and move to another country. If we want a better job/better life we look for another job elsewhere even if it's means moving to another state.
