By golly, I'll be damned if I didn't have all my ducks in a row! As soon as the clock struck 9:00 I had all my six Patreon accounts with suspiciously similar Florida addresses ready to go. I had then already carefully prepared by taking my 1,200 bucks of sweet, freshly printed, stimulus money and using it to impart an initial momentum to my self-charging circuit of high-interest credit cards. That flux of money accelerated to 88 mph in the circular chain of credit cards would allow me, in due time, to divert all the accumulated financial energy (1.21 Jiggawats) into Rudy's eBay store and purchase as many Ikoria boxes as possible! Yeah, this seems less like an issue with capping the amount of boxes purchasable and more like an issue with misunderstanding what kind of buyers would be part of his patreon. It exists as a way for people to make bulk purchases of magic product at wholesale-lite prices, they aren't going to be Joe Retail off the street and likely haven't been effected monetarily by the current situation in the first month. Instead they are looking for opportunities inside of a unique market.

The moment when you think you know what you doing will always be the most dangerous. I think your situation stems from 2 main issues: 1) Should of had some kind of circuit breaker set up so that when the amount of boxes you had confirmed was sold out, it should have either stopped automatically or given people the option to place a back order with the understanding it could take a while for you to get it to them. 2) Most of you assumptions were correct, many people are hunkering down to try and weather the current economic storm. Where your assumptions failed was in the hype for this set and the number of people who most likely are going to pump and dump to make some money in this economy.

However, in saying that, I don't think anyone else can say that the man doesn't come through in one way or another when the pressure is on lol. It was unforeseen by him and he is actually an honest person willing to admit it. That's rare among people anymore and I respect that. I think this is another reason he works alone and with no sponsors. Because this way, he has no one to blame but himself, he's the boss too, and he has to own up to situations like this and look for an out to the predicament; when stuck between a rock and a hard place. When you're into something like MTG, even when you think it will never get off the ground (i.e. in Rudy's case, MTG sets), it's a good idea to keep at least a small position in everything that you possibly can. That way, for when that less than 1% chance happens, you can jump on it. If there's even a small percentage chance of it happening, be mindful of it, because it could pay the bills one day.

There will be one day collectors that will look for such odd rarities and they are the one's that you would need to look for. Everything has value to someone sooner or later. However, if you notice, I never said to invest in nothing but things of such. I said to have a position in everything that you possibly can. And it would go a little something like this, and I will use the scientific mathematical percentile probability method, that way people can see how the odds change and what reality is. Zero's are left at the end of everything to represent that we know exactly where we are at and we know the true percentile probability. 0.001% = Tiny or smaller chance of happening. Have a tiny or smaller position in it. 0.010% = Small chance of happening. Have a small position in it. 0.100% = Medium chance of happening. Have a medium position in it. 1.000% = Large chance of happening. Have a large position in it. As you can see, once you reach 1%, your chances of success increase drastically. 1% may not look like much on paper, but in scientific mathematical probabilities, it's more than enough incentive for concern; and now you know why medical science is taking COVID-19 seriously, for example. When watching a show such as a survival show like Naked & Afraid, for example, now you know what they mean when something has, for example, a 50% chance of happening; that's pretty extreme actually. Anything with less than a 0.001% chance of happening and I wouldn't even bother with it at all. Anything with a 10.000% chance of happening and I'm going to be all over it like a bull in a china shop smashing through everything to get it like a kid in a candy store, when concerning something like MTG, for example lol. The odds are more than in my favor to be successful. When converting from scientific terms to layman terms, 1% means 100%, but then science is going to want to write it on paper like this: 100.00%, at the very least, so we know where we are at approximately in layman terms; a third zero after the decimal point to gain near to absolute probability. Take COVID-19 seriously. Because now you know the true probability for a person that has a 1% chance of dying from it. And if the person happens to be a smoker of anything, for example (i.e. I say anything because the younger generation goes through the party days, also including those who vape, because firing it off releases vapor metals from the electrical current and carbon residue due to the heat from the mechanism which is no different than a person who smokes cigarettes, plus smoke is a vapor, so those who vape are doing nothing different, just using different tools to get the same effect), then that chance rises by times four, which is a 400% chance in layman terms. The odds are not in those people's favor at all. A message that has needed to be said to the younger generation for a few months now.

While I agree with what you're saying, the significance of probabilities is relative to the meaningfulness of the input parameters that helped the study arrive at the probability. Not only that, but the sample size needs to be significant. I'll give you an example: Taiwan recently developed a test kit with a 100% detection rate - looks really good on face value but their sample size was 13 people. The kit was found to be only effective AFTER the covid-19 virus has reached a certain stage, thereby eliminating early detection. Now 100% has a different meaning to investors. Also the bit about shitcoins was a joke :)

this just literally what happened to me last week, i had an order for a china exclusive sportscard boxes. Distributor cancelled my downpayment and refunded it to me. @@kisekinecro Rudy admitted in the video that he made the mistake that he underestimated the demand and didn't think people would be buying so many collector boxes. At this point, he's doing what he can to do damage control. His latest thing about doing swaps for Collectors boxes for Commander 2020 is one way of going about it without going through Paypal hell. There's no perfect solution for this. All he can do is live and learn.

Ikoria collector boxes have been going up the last few weeks and have settled at around $230-$250. I've seen some eBay sellers restock at their original $190 price and have sold out quickly.

Why not set the limit at one box and pass on the shipping charges? I’ve been a patron for 6-8 months and havnt bought anything thus far, and I would’ve loved to buy a box of ikoria collectors boxes. Please consider limited the commander 2020 to one set per patron and simply charge us for shipping. I’d really like an opportunity to buy a set.

I literally went to 7 different ROSS stores in southern California from Long Beach, CA. to literally SOUTH CENTRAL Los Angeles when I finally found the pair of shoes

Thank you for the video Rudy. Good on you for owning up to a process that didn't work as expected. Hang in there, your Patreon members should understand. I mean they already pay you monthly before that sale even began... they got money to burn. I think this event hammers that fact home... Patreon members will pay more money than the market rate to support you (which is good for Rudy). I preordered my Collector Booster boxes below $200, because I enjoy playing the game and will not qualify to get any stimulus check (I also preordered Comm 2020 for $147 on eBay and an Ikoria Combo for ~$140 in credit with Card Kingdom). People trying to make a buck waited over a month to try and get a deal that was already available on the market, with or without the stimulus check or a Patreon membership (which they probably didn't factor into this deal). I mean if you use Card Kingdom's aggressive buylist, you get 30% trade credit and their Collector boxes are $199 in buylist card value right now ($235 with no trade credit). I did this for my Ikoria Combo from CK and got it for $119 + $11 tax +10 shipping = $141 in store credit. $141 in store credit/130% = $108.50 in cards. If you stay the course, you can avoid these panic buy/sell phases. I just plan to buy every set to play with my friends, because disposable income... my plan has worked every time.

lol! you just compared ikoria collectors booster boxes to toilet paper. This video makes me want to buy from you more than ANY OTHER VIDEO YOU HAVE EVER POSTED... EVER. The best takeaway from this video is that when you mess up and make a public announcement about how you messed up, you can regain the respect and trust of the community. As much as you like to avoid that word, because it's misused so much, yes, we are a community, especially now, when all the LGS stores are temporarily closed.
