For me the saddest or funniest part is that the CEO made this statement trying to play the victim while he missed almost every point that the community asked, talked or discussed about in the last two years. The game still has not released all the promised features from Kickstarter, all the updates with content were just that, features from kickstarter with a few QOL here and there, the game could as well be still in early access because the 1.0 release was just so that they could implement a battle pass and the cosmetic shop, mind you at the 1.0 launch the game had already sold 1 million copies and the director of the game said that the servers cost were low enough that they would not have to worry about it for years, the game also is one of the most expensive on this genre and with the deluxe edition it goes up to $60! That is what the community has been asking all this time, not for infinite content but for content, where is the money that is supposedly to support the game going to? Why have a battle pass, a cosmetic shop and a buy to play game if there is not new content and the devs don't communicate with the players? Also talking about how players should abandon Temtem so that they could develop Temtem 2 because they are just in Temtem 1 still because "we want to" is something so out of touch while trying to be the victim that I don't even know why he written that. Also every time that people ask for "Whats in the future of the game?" they are clearly so vague because they don't intend to make a future for the game, I had hope for Temtem but I will say, I don't intent to support Crema and it's clear how they see players as, I also don't ask anyone to review bomb Swarm but I will ask to just not supporting, make the message clear that everyone lost trust of the studio and that while they don't show clear signs that they will make matters better (which I doubt that they will based on this statement of the CEO) they will not receive support.

This is just a classic class of developers throwing words around and making big promises and only later realize they don't have the resources for it. The developers made a single player game and forced it to be a always-online gaas MMO despite not having the necessary skills and resources to create an always-online GAAS-MMO, but instead of admitting that they kept pushing for it. If you dont want to make an always-online MMO with frequent content updates, then don't make one or market it as an always-online MMO. Like nearly every article called Temtem a Pokemon MMO and the devs never corrected that and sometimes called it an MMO themselves. Eventually people will call you out for stuff like that. Brands & developers need to build up Trust if they want to stay relevant for a long time. "Promises made, promises kept" is the key word.

No thank you very much, i will stay as far away as possible from anything they make.

I'd forgive all of that if they did the "support" part of the statement. But keeping the lights on at Crema isn't "support". 6:50 Honestly, I think it may be safe to say Temtem may as well be dead. Which is sad when you look at bloody Eternal Crusade having lasted longer then Temtem, and that game was just a mess to the point that the entire dev team jumped ship from it and left it to a skeleton screw who barely had any idea what they were doing, and were expected to clean up the mess, deal with the broken promises, etc., all that were the doing of the original developers. Like Crema is dripfeeding the dripfeed content, and now I honestly think they wanted to make it an MMO to be "cool and quirky", rather then handing out a single player or co-op experience that would have been much better recived then a Single Player game with MMO problems stacked ontop of it, I just don't have any faith left in Crema and Swarm was just the last nail in the coffin for me. EDIT: 11:10 Yea, I would be, like I'd be fine if Monster Sanctuary dropped a paid DLC as well, as a PvE player I have no reason to play TemTem for either a Monster Tamer or an MMO, I have better options where I feel like my time is actually respected and very recently Final Fantasy 14 came to Xbox which is what I play TemTem on, so while I'd be fine with seeing paid DLC expansions, I'd no longer be a Day-1Buyer, and I honestly doubt Cerma would do a paid DLC like that.

No, it's not. The CEO post is wrong on so many levels. People didn't expect the world, they just wanted to have any meaningful content. Or any bug fixes and QoL changes. Not having another island is fine, but Temtem was always marketed as a "creature collector MMO". However, they completely failed on the MMO part, and the post-game is just garbage. Like, new temtems should be absolutely basic, and they didn't add any for a very long time. There was never a point where it had a fun and engaging end game. Just a bunch of boring chores. It doesn't help either that the changes they made over the last years were absolutely horrible. Like, "Free Temtem" stuff was a decent way to earn some money, free your slots, and encourage you to catch monsters. But after they reworked it for god knows what reason, now it's just another boring chore. Which, to make it even more ridiculous, it is possible to soft-lock the player. And then, banning people who put any criticism, even those that were completely valid is just icing on this ugly cake. Like, the story mode is good enough to justify this game's price. But when you finish the story- there are plenty of other games with more meaningful post-game. That's why it should've been a single-player game all along.

Look at the events that they removed entirely from the game because people complained that it was too grind for no reason and it made it just unfun to do, they made a statement playing the victim and how they could not satisfy all players so they decided to just remove instead of making it less grind and more rewarding.

Crema could teach a master class on how to deal with PR in your community. Everything they teach you should just assume the opposite and you will be able to cater a great community and keep good relations with said community. Every step of the way Crema has been shitty to the player-base and have held an approach that can be boiled down to "We know better than you" and its been draining supporting this game. They should never have made Temtem an MMO (or a pseudo-mmo) if they are unwilling to listen to the community they want to maintain. They would have been better off leaving the game as a campaign with multiplayer features so they don't need to maintain their bullshit "economy" or other poor decisions. Sometime between version 0.1 and 0.5 Crema changed their behavior. It started from being very open and transparent to less and less communicative to almost being tone deaf. I remember a bug in the mines (3rd map), which caused players to get stuck between a wall and a tamer NPC. This bug was present for months. People (I saw at least one stuck post each and every day) had to write a ticket in the forum or had to ask in the Discord for help. Either a statt member had to manually unstuck them or other people had to come up with solutions. I wrote an post on the forum talking about the issue and asking them, why they just simply move that NPC away/disable the fight against, which caused getting stuck in the first place. I can not remember what the exactly answer was. But at the end they decided to wait for the next big content update to fix that issue. Just. Imagine. Keeping a game breaking bug around which causes frustration for players and needing a statt member dedicated to manually help players. When they said, they want to shut down the forum to limit communication to the Discord, it was mind blowing (in a very negative way). So many questionable decisions, and they kept defending it. Suffice to say, Crema lost touch with their community long ago.

I feel for the devs in some ways but nobody forced them to make their monster tamer an MMO, you have to contend with the baggage of the genre you've decided to develop in and it's not the fan's fault those genre expectations exist. The first line of the Steam description is "Temtem is a massively multiplayer creature-collection adventure." and the developer set genre tags on Steam include 'Massively Multiplayer' and 'MMO' so its not like the fans got the wrong impression from somewhere other than the official marketing and branding.

Someone on Reddit had a good point: They wanted to have all the benefits of an MMO without putting in the effort to make it an MMO. That word has a certain expectation in the eyes of gamers, and Crema seems to not understand that. An MMO sort of has to be a live service game that gets consistent updates to keep the player base alive and active. So I don't think it's unreasonable for people to expect new content. Especially because they're mostly asking for it since people do love the game and want to play it more. I think Temtem would have been fine marketed as a single-player experience with multiplayer content and honestly might have done better. As it stands the game is way too grindy for little reward and with the promise of no new content the game will just slowly continue to die. I would have absolutely paid, reasonably, for a DLC with new Temtem and story content and such. However I think at this point the community might not trust Crema to price any sort of DLC at a reasonable price after seeing what they would charge for mounts, emotes, etc. I can only hope that if or when they decide to do Temtem 2 they can actually listen to the community and make a game people would play instead of being stubborn and not being willing to take feedback....

I played this game a lot with many friends, but we all ended up giving up on it because it really seemed to have given up on us. I remember I became more aware of this on Early Access when they introduced Koish of the Week and Dojo Rematches, Temtem was a Co-Op Game (with a LOT of Co-Op bugs that needed fix), that had just introduced a grindy feature in which you take twice the amount of time to do Co-Op (KotW) and an exclusively Single Player feature (Dojos).. I even got to their forum to try and get their attention to how counter-intuitive this was, but there wasn't any response.. the game just became grindier and lonelier, which is ironic for both an MMO or a Co-Op Experience

I did not expect "infinite content", but I think the CEO is completely off the mark. Not every MMO uses a subscription model, some like Guild Wars 2 and Elder Scrolls Online use a Buy to Play model with their expansions. The issue is that they marketed the game as a MMO, it automatically gets compared to every other MMO and live service MMO-lite on the market, especially with its incredibly strict economic controls in place. You can't say your game is an MMO and then do very little to show for years on end. That's what caused much of the community to leave. They should have made paid DLC by now, hell a lot of us would pay the game's full price for more PvE content, but everything they have put out since the end of Early Access has not been it. Much of the end game content you don't even use the temtems you caught and are instead assigned random ones. They haven't earned their battle passes and heavy amounts of monetization practices. You can't have your cake and eat it too. You either are an MMO/live service game and thus need to add more content to the game to sustain the playerbase, or you are not and must remove the extra monetization as this is now a single player with optional coop. The game cannot be both, but Crema seems to think it is. Franchise's potential got squandered. That's all. Wish things could be different, but I don't agree with the CEO at all. Nobody expects "infinite content" even from a MMO and this just sounds like them making excuses. It's fine. I got my money's worth out of Temtem as a single player experience, but I'm just sad that it isn't living up to what we expected or wanted it to be. It could have rivaled Pokemon since it captured everyone's attention when everyone was mad at Pokemon for Dexit amongst other controversies during Temtem's initial outing Early Access and they picked the perfect time to make an entrance. Now most of us have moved on to greener pastures. Good luck to Crema, I guess, they'll need it.

I want an offline mode so much, even if just to CHEAT to reduce grind, cause that's where I'm at with this game. Hell, they should consider private servers. They can be paid to give Crema a constant income stream and can have a bunch of admin commands for the host to customize the game as much as they like, such as making it less grindy or giving Tems moves they used to get that were removed for pvp balance purposes which ultimately makes many Temtem crippled in the actual pve story playthrough cause very little gets the moves best for that setting until super late levels if not being forced to breed for some moves too

If TemTem is a "complete game", then STOP working on it; Bug Fixes ONLY Allow it to continue being played offline Also, who told them DLC HAD to be free? If the content is good enough and worth the price tag they put on it, I'd 100% buy it Pokemon: Sword & Shield did it, Pokemon: Scarlet & Violet did it But, again, NO ONE is FORCING them to continue working on this game, though that's EXACTLY what it sounds like "We're fixing this for you" If it NEEDS fixing, YOU should WANT to fix it But, yea... the main problem is, like you said, they're still "on the fence" on things they should have ALREADY had a solid stance on at this point And then they become HOSTILE when it's pointed out that they haven't taken a stance And play the VICTIM because of it

Given how much trouble they have every time the game is updated I'm under the assumption that however they've made the game internally, however it is coded, is a giant spaghetti mess from the ground up. Perhaps part of the vehement "no new content" attitude is because its less difficult and time consuming to produce something entirely new than it is to navigate the internal chaos for even incredibly small changes. Its a theory.

I am always interested in how Temtem is doing. From my pov (I grinded for 1000 hours), the goals and ideas/reality of Devs long did not align with the voice of the Community. They always had their own views on how Temtem should be, probably because they started it with the wrong idea (though I don't blame them). Making an MMO is hard. Yet, back then we all dreamed of a Pokémon MMO. There was a promise of a dream, but I suspect the Devs had to meet the reality. So the promise was never fully fulfilled, but the marketing stayed the same, the economy stayed the same. It feels like the Devs both wanted to make an MMO and did not want to make an MMO. Trying to get two birds with one stone: no crazy bullshit that came with attempts to make a fully-fledged MMO, but also all the marketing success from branding your game like one. So they faced backlash (for years). So now the CEO is blaming the players. I don't understand how a company can have balls to say that it's a player's fault if they (Crema) still have to support the game. I don't feel like they love this game. For them this has been only trouble for a long time, I guess.

Okay I will say it (huge rant inc), the Crema marketing department is absolutely clueless. This is going to sound rude, but they are giving themselves WAY TOO MUCH credit. Temtem's original success was completely carried by a combination of 2 things, "The Pokemon game we always wanted" and content creators giving light to this project. If Temtem actually did good, modern marketing for their game through content creators, it would see WAY MORE success. Look at Palworld made by a small studio, or even Backpack Battles that was made by 2 people for example. Crazy how they didn't realize this seeing how they got their original success. Crema consistently gets on bad terms with their community for completely unnecessary reasons. For example I have never seen a company complain about "toxic fans" as much as the Crema devs do. I'm not saying any developer deserves toxic fans, what I'm saying is that, just as with content creation, it's currently a sad and unfortunate part of the job. But going after your fanbase for it leaves everyone with a bad taste in their mouths. Imagine if instead of telling their playerbase "Hey we are not adding more Tems" which I can only imagine is because of financial reasons, they just opened a kickstarter for "Temtem DLC" or whatever. Might not get funded, but at least then they tried. Sure they might not want to continue developing Temtem as part of their main game, but then let us know that. Crema also often make easy-to-fix problems way more complicated than they are, add a fix for that complication, which fails, and then go for the easy solution which works. Kinu protector is a perfect example of this. So much time wasted to try and make sure they keep the exact version of the Tem in their head alive, when the eventual fix they ended up going with was literally suggested to them hundreds of times dating back to the first EA patch (Tucma days). The issue with this is ofc putting resources where they are not needed, slowing down their overall progress of the game. Whenever possible Crema always makes the wrong decision and then they always blame their players for their poor decisions not panning out. And they have always done this. In EA they would always use "it's EA blablabla" as their excuse, and now when they can't anymore it's instead the playerbase's fault/the playerbase being unreasonable. It's sad to see a game with so much potential be handled so so poorly and with so little care. Also as a side note, if they listened to their critics instead of hiding behind their white knights they would have learnt so much more from Temtem and would have made not just Temtem a much better game, but their future games as well.

Tem Tem swarm is fine as well. A lot of people do think Tem Tem is a great game. But as a player i am wary about what would happen when the servers shutdown. I Truly hope they do consider an Offline mode. If CREMA cant update the game like an MMO, don't treat it as such and just make it offline with the option of going online. I wouldn't mind paying for a DLC, if CREMA drops a new island DLC with new Tems and the content is good enough, i would even pay 20 bucks for it. 20 bucks for every extra island even. They can even keep the battle pass and microtransaction in for cosmetics and events. As a stand alone game Tem Tem is well made and well thought out. I’ll also address the idea of bringing players back via content. I played 40h when it came out. Up to when they added the saipark? Or whatever it’s called and nerfed the Luna appearance rates and I hated that change as I was actively Luna hunting when they did it (gone one at least). If you have to nerf the main game to make new content look better then you suck at designing a game 🤷‍♂️ But I figured I’d wait for the game to finish. But as it got updated I never get interested. Each time I looked into the game again I saw comments showing my biggest issues with the game were still there. First the economy being trash. But more recently being made aware of the battle pass things. Really? Why would I want to return for that? Over time my opinion on Temtem has soured because of the way they handled it and the things they’ve added. If they put an offline into it then I’d at least go experience what’s there now. But I don’t see a point when further investment just means more time into a game with a shelf life.

Players are actually asking for QoL improvements for the already existing features in this game, not updates. I won't expect much from Crema at this point. If you want something fixed they claim that there is no problem, you as the player has to bring up prove that there is something wrong. Saipark wasn't rotating properly, not every Temtem appeared for nearly 2 years for either SV and Luma week. A lot of players have pointed this out for weeks, no reaction, the community manager saw no reason to bring this up to the team. Then a Bug report was made and two people (myself included) brought the Wiki up which has documented each week, I even took my own time to list which ones were missing, and only then they listened rather than checking for themselves. I know they are working, but these things makes you question when they state they have statistics or when they claim that they can't find a problem or the trait or move worked properly during testing, etc.. With over 2000h I shouldn't complaining, the game was worth my time. Looking back I had a lot of fun, actually EA was the best time for this game and the community imo. It's just sad what direction it takes and how people are leaving with a bitter taste. The negative reviews that are constantly getting deleted on Steam don't come from nothing. However like you mentioned I do hope people won't go there and put a negative review on Swarms because they had a problem with Temtem itself. Edit: Also calling the community out for demanding more updates for Temtem 1... They always say that there are no plans for Temtem 2, that they don't know if there will ever be a sequel. So what else shall the player-base ask? Stop supporting your game and do a game you maybe don't want to develop? We just don't know about their plans.

From what I understand, TemTem did everything they promised in their kickstarter so they should be applauded for that. However, I do feel like TemTem (and Palia) would have benefitted from being a single-player game from the start. Advertising it as an MMO is probably what got them so many sales to start with but now they have to pay to maintain servers and security forever or lose their game. And that's why MMO developers try to have some kind of infinite grind content. They need to pay for servers so keeping you in the game means you'll give them money. I don't mind buying DLC. It did sound like they were trying to have a viable monetary model without being pay-to-win or DLC since so many people claim they hate buying DLC. But I think that's mostly for Day 1 DLC and stuff that should have been a core feature of the game at launch. Other than that, I think most people are fine with DLC as long as it's worth it.

That's the funny thing: They still didn't do everything promised in their kickstarter, the 1.0 release was launched with probably half of the promised kickstarter features, the arcade that is to be released next patch is still a kickstarter feature, the game just doesn't have the "early access" tag right now but is pretty much still early access, they removed it and launched the 1.0 just so that they can say exactly what the CEO tried to say on their statement: "We are releasing new features", when in reality they are just releasing the features promised on Kickstarter with a few QOL, that is it. Also they have 3 monetization on the game: Buying it (with a deluxe edition which makes the game up to $60), paid battle pass and a paid cosmetic shop, the director of the game himself said that the servers costs are minimum and that they can support it for years, they also said that the game is sustainable even without the paid cosmetics, so where is this money going to? This is another points that the community has been asking for close to two years without a answer.

Like I said, the DLC route without the mtx would be the easiest and safest route, which when suggested by players devs were condescending or straight up rude and said that people didn't know what they were talking about and should trust Crema instead, now that's were we are.

@@exocitus8731 If they're making a new game then I hope they've learned their lesson and make a stand-alone game. I'd likely buy it. Yeah, DLC could have been the better route. I feel like they had the best of intentions but got all mixed up somewhere.

What a jerky thing to say. Shame, I was hoping to get the switch version, but not if this is how the devs of this incomplete game act.

Crema should have just sold TemTem as a single player experience then!!! It's wild to sell a game on the basis as an MMO and then be upset with customers demanding MMO like support. Their business plan is a trash fire.

serious question, was tem tem being an MMO a selling point for anyone? the brief time i played it, i played it basically as a single player game and the online elements only ever got in the way of trying to play the game. i would have much rather played a single player version of the game, is that true for most people?

Methinks Temtem CEO is shooting himself in the foot. I get what he's trying to say, but I think they weren't prepared to run a MMO for the long term. Now that they realize that they can't up, they're trying to rewrite history by either "redefining" what a MMO is, or saying that Temtem is not a MMO. Either way, they made mistakes and they're burning bridges. And I don't think Temtem (has a franchise) has the staying power to weather the storm. That and I don't see Temtem Swarm bringing in a ton of new players. So... yeah, good luck. They're going to need it. Lol.

thats what ceos do. he was probably mindbroken by palworld and is now crying because his game is not a success and other monster games are doing better. seriously they need to put in the work if they want to make their game popular. and they are not doing it

The pure online bit is my issue. I hate to buy games that i can't play offline. Been burned before on Moonrise. Never again.

just goes to show the CEO has no brain and cant comprehend how the game industry works an example the sims well sims 4 as an example multiple DLC expansions that bring more to the game or payday 2 with so much to do so the CEO claiming they cant do infinite content just shows a lack of knowledge about the video game industry

When you make a game so inspired by Pokemon, of course you should be expecting people to want new zones and monsters like Pokemon does, even more so when you make that game an MMO. To me it seems they have been clear about that intention pretty early on but that doesn't mean people won't expect it. The new game looks kinda cool but I'm not sure I like the idea of building it off of the Temtem, I would have prefered to see them try to build a new more interesting world.

no offence but Crema should just stop making games because they clearly don't understand anything about how game genres and mechanics work

I think that is a bit unfair to say from the CEO. I think constant updates is a TON of work, even for the biggest of studios with the resources to handle it. I will say this for Temtem and other small studios: Be realistic with the scope and kinds of games you want to make in relation to the resources your team has. It isn't on the consumer that you decided to make an MMO when you don't have the resources to keep up with it. I think it would be better to make a solid base game and slowly add content instead of making a grindy MMO with shallow gameplay. This is the issue I have with live service games and early access. It is such an unstable dev cycle with an air of uncertainty and leading players through roadmaps that aren't guaranteed.

Dude they made an MMO. Part of the loop is to have endless content to keep players. That's what MMOs do. That's why MMOs make expansions, have side games, mini games, holiday events, special gear, etc. MMOs live because they have a near endless stream of "things to do" in them. If you weren't ready for that kind of commitment, you should've never made an MMO. Heck you should've never marketed it as an MMO.

This makes me regret buying this game during Early Access. I stopped after a few hours and planned to go back but never did. A shame. I’ve heard people wanted a Pokémon MMO in the past and I thought it was a bad idea. Here we have TemTem showing it with Devs that don’t understand the MMO tag is a good reason why. It could be possible, but a Monster Tamer game to catch and raise Monsters is best as a Single Player game with Co-Op and Multiplayer modes on top of it. As much as I’m not happy with Scarlet and Violet, it did it pretty great with its Multiplayer features and playing with others like the BB Quests. Still I wish I could refund. These Devs really bite off more than they could chew.
