I've only seen the shorts pop up and I've shamelessly watched a load of them before realizing you have full length videos, it feels like Christmas as I have today off and little on the agenda.

We have a company in the United States called Harbor Freight tools. They sell a step drill bit similar to you the one you're using from the hardware store. Depending on size you can get three smaller step bits for less than $10 when they're on super sale. They seem to be the equivalent of the one you purchased in the hardware store albeit smaller. Seem to be of a similar quality. Harbor Freight also sells a pair of cobalt step bits for $39? Doing this for memory. They also sell a single smaller unit also in Cobalt for $25 I think. In my experience the kobalt ones will run circles around the titanium coated ones. I use the cheap ones mostly in drilling various plastic things. I saved the steel for the cobalt bits. They work much better than anything I've ever had that was titanium coated.

I ordered a bunch of fishing stuff off Temu and let’s just some of the items thoroughly dissatisfied me some of the items where actually pretty good like I ordered a thing of flys big fly fisherman here and I caught a nice brown trout I know this is a video about tools and stuff but figured I’d give my opinion
@scumbaggo5 ай бұрын
temu/wish are great for really cheap shit like lead weights, bobbers. i can see the flies being decent as long as the hook isnt so cheap it snaps, a bit of super glue to make sure they dont unravel and fall apart.

Sounds like Temu is the fishing gear equivalent of a box of chocolates-you never know what you're gonna get! Glad you reeled in a nice trout, though. Maybe the next item will come with a built-in fish whisperer!

Step drills, regardless of quality, are only designed to be used on thin sheet, despite what some ad bollocks shows. May as well drive a mini and rolls off a cliff to find out which is the better aeroplane. You might arrive in more style in the rolls but everything will be f'ed regardless.

Last summer I picked up an 18 inch (about 45cm) piece of railroad rail. I bought it to use as a sort of poor man's anvil. It cost me $10 (USD). I see here on youtube a few people grinding these rail pieces to mimic a store bought anvil. I thought about maybe doing the same but it seems these "anvil makers" grind/cut so much steel, the finished product has to be worthless. There doesn't appear to be much hammering space left plus these "anvils" look to have lost much of their needed weight. What do you use as an anvil? Ever try making one from a railroad rail? How would you fashion one?

The temu drill was most likely just brass or some type of nickel alloy. They just advertise it as titanium coated it isnt
@ozyrob15 ай бұрын
Probably isn't even HSS ( my opinion)

They usually are the material stated they just are not sharp, at all. If you sharpen them they actually work reasonably well.
@stevealford2303 ай бұрын
It costs pennies to Ti coat thousands of bits, so cheap bits that say that's what they are... usually are. The reason they suck is because they don't properly sharpen them, using cheap machines and bad processes, but because HSS is air hardening, they have a good heat treatment no matter how bad the manufacturing processes and can hold an edge and will become good (enough) bits if you take a few seconds to sharpen them yourself. The coating is almost entirely a marketing gimmick and doesn't give a functional advantage to the home user; you will get MUCH better results with the least expensive $35 set of uncoated M42 (Cobalt alloy) bits than you will with a $250 set of top brand name Titanium Coated HSS bits... because the coating sounds great on paper, but doesn't actually improve anything by any measurable amount in practice.

hing is. The majority of stores be it online or IRL go buy most things in china for even cheaper than from temu. Then crank up the price and sell it to you. Temu has no guarantees of quality but the cheap prices and free shipping far outweigh it, why let yourselves get pretty much scammed by jokers like amazon, when you can go straight to the source. Although I have to say that the "free" shipping is a major scam. There's a world mail organization which basically makes it so really really poor countries ship for way cheaper than richer ones. Basically someplace like Kenya you pay a few cents and in USA they basically compensate for Kenya's cheap prices. It's a nice system except classic China is abusing it. Basically they claim "developing" status and that means that everyone, even the big companies there can ship for literal pennies and of course when it gets here, the sorting, mailing and everything else of the "free" package gets paid for by the US. Taxpayer dollars and the Mail profits cover the cost of thousands of things shipped in from china, which is very disgusting but useful for folks that don't want to buy repackaged chinese stuff for 10x the price. Also, while yes China is abusing us. It's not like when you stop buying stuff off of Temu that they would suddenly stop. If they're abusing us already, then might aswell take advantage of it.
@stevealford2303 ай бұрын
I've had several people cringe at the mention of Temu and call it cheap garbage, then proudly show off their cool new "best-deal-you-can-find-on-these" nifty Amazon purchases that are literally the exact same products listed on Temu for half of the price or less. Nearly all of my Amazon wishlist was on Temu for a fraction of the price after using a 30% coupon and getting back a 20% commission for referring my roommate to buy it all. Pennies on the dollar vs Amazon for the exact same products; not similar... exact same.
