10 cents for a beer at a baseball game might sound like a dream come true. But the reality of that scenario unfolded on June 4, 1974 during a Major League Baseball game between the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers. What transpired was a night full of nudity, violence, and total chaos.

In the 1980's, I remember for a few years that during the All Star Game, a woman named "Morgana" would make a yearly appearance, running onto the field early in the game, in a low-cut shirt or maybe bikini top, showing off her ridiculously large breasts for the viewing pleasure of the crowd and tv audience, waiving and being politely escorted off the field by security. She was notorious for that.

It wasn't mentioned but the reason the umpire finally called the game off was that during the brawl between fans and players, somebody threw a knife either at him or in his general direction. Not just an ordinary switchblade, but a full sized hunting knife. It didn't hit him, but it stuck in the ground next to him and that was the last straw. They could handle fights with fans, fireworks and sreakers, but when people start involving deadly weapons, that's really it.

Dear Kevin: Crowd violence at sports events isn't as uncommon as this video suggests. I worked for a security company in San Francisco in 1969 as a kid. They had the contracts for guards at the NFL games at Candlestick Park (49ers) & at the Oakland Coliseum (Raiders). It was VERY difficult for the dispatchers to fill these shifts because the stadium crowds then were so abusive. They even snuck in bricks and other "weapons" to hurl at the players, at the guards, and even at each other. A VERY Violent NFL scene in the Bay Area at the time. 50 guards for a 25K crowd is VERY Reasonable when the crowd doesn't act like a pack of animals. ... Art.Curator.2016@gmail.com

As crazy, dangerous, and over-the-top as this is, it's sad that things like 10 Cent Beer Night or Disco Demolition Night couldn't happen in today's game. The excessive professionalism and corporate feel of pro sports makes it hard to truly get behind a team or feel that they really represent the people of a city. Instead of die-hard, regular fans attending games, it's become a social event for corporate types and wealthy families. Too bad

Cleveland is B-O-U-T I-T..... B-O-U-T I-T. (and b4 someone no limits/NOLAs me. You can go fuck off. Its a 1996 Cleveland Bicentennial reference.) I wished I had that white tee that I picked up on the Flats. Huge Hilfiger logo with Cleveland Ohio where the usual Tommy Hilfiger lettering exist. On the back it had two lines ".... is bout it " that shit was wet.

Yup. And considering that a 6-pack cost about $2.35 (roughly 40c/beer) it really was a hellava deal. When was the last time you saw beer advertised for 75% off?

You mean it being cool as shit and an absolute grand time. The people who screwed up here were the players and managers, by the 3rd inning they should have figured the situation out and went to the beer truck themselves. Imagine the level of goodwill towards the community you represent when they see you out there drinking with the common folk. Little things like that would have sold a lot more of their merch,
