So here's the bleakest episode of the series, where people are fated to die horrible, miserable deaths. You know, you could see this as a feel good episode if you either:
A. Are a sadistic nihilist
Or
B. Recognize that at least your life isn't as depressing as this episode

Was taxi driver called "Marian" by his neighbor at the start? :) His name was Waldemar. I laughed when the neighbor asked "Did it hit you?". :) That's the same guy that appeared in 2nd episode. Very powerful stuff with two equally distrurbing death scenes. No wonder even Chuck Norris wasn't prepared to watch it (as he stated that he killed numerous guys in the movies but never like that). Tremendous performances for everyone involved and this kind of cinematography (by Sławomir Idziak) was a risky move but it paid off splendidly. I think that was the only episode that could work with this way of shooting. What also makes it unforgettable is accidental nature of the events. I like that Artur Barciś's mysterious figure VERY CLEARLY stated to Jacek not to do it and Jacek just turned into more dark on the passanger seat - as you mentioned. Very powerful. And yet Mr. Barciś reappeared in the prison to take care of Jacek after his death. Will the ladder turn to be useful? I would really like to find out how they got to make Mirosław Baka look deceased. I saw myself in young lawyer more than in any other character in the series. I loved how he was able to get to Jacek by calling his name. Beautiful scene.

Good video, this actually made me consider quite a lot of other things I previously wouldn't have. A few things to note perhaps could be the foreshadowing at the start with the cat being hanged, and then the taxi driver mentioning how he doesn't like cats as they are devious (relating Jacek tricking the taxi driver). We later see Jacek, like a panther or other feline predator, look for his prey. We also see that after the killing the radio song is about a 'brave' lion, this perhaps being an ironic mockery of Jacek. From all this we could draw a parallel to cats and Jacek. While we aren't meant to know why Jacek kills we could perhaps theorise that Jacek doesn't start the day intending to kill. At the start Jacek attempts to watch a movie, he comments on a painting, and he goes to enhance his mother's photo. It's only in the coffeeshop does he cut his rope and tighten it. In the 30 minutes before his execution he mentions how he didn't want to leave, implying he doesn't like being in the city. With the camera filter showing his isolated world, beatings, peoples constant dismissal and disrespect towards him we could assume that it's the bitter world around him that drives him to do and bad and eventually kill. The lawyer also mentions a Marxist quote in his exam: "Since Cain the world has neither been intimidated nor ameliorated by punishment" presenting somewhat of an irony as it shows how Capital Punishment goes against the theory of ideology the ones in authority supposedly follow. Finally I want to present the juxtaposition of Jacek talking to the girl about freedom and driving to the mountains (something alien to where he's at - could also symbolise hope and progress) and it then cutting to the end of his trial, for him to be locked up placed in jail (and his hope and progression of life being put to a dead end)

The thing about murdering someone is that once you pull that first punch, it's quite hard to pretend you were merely joking...
