1 - If a couple makes the mistake of having an abortion can they chant Amituofo for the unborn baby years later or is there only a certain amount of time to chant for it . 2- Can chanting Amituofo by the coulple help the couple along with doing good deeds the rest of their life improve their situation and give them comfort when they feel bad and have regrets ? I have been studying further on this and learned the Soka Gakkai school believes in a ninth consciousness, but most Buddhists believe in the eight consciousness like you taught us . When i was a little boy a Chinese lady told my friends and i things you taught us about the person still being their , that they having their heart and breathing and other things working with the higher consciousness, and we should be careful what we say and do and pray alot and chant during this time . This video make this come into my thoughts again after all these years, i wonder if was in my sub conscious all this time . Great video Laoshi, Namo Amituofo 🙏

Yes, the couple can chant Amitabha’s name for the unborn baby, no matter how much time has passed. Amitabha’s compassion transcends time, so the sincerity and compassion with which you chant matter most. Chanting benefits both the baby and the parents, bringing peace and merit. Chanting Amitabha also helps transform guilt and regret into compassion and positive karma. Along with doing good deeds, it brings peace and improves the couple’s situation over time. The Soka Gakkai’s teaching on the ninth consciousness relates to the pure state beyond the eight consciousnesses taught in most Buddhist traditions. In Yogacara, we believe once the eight consciousness is purified, it transforms into the ninth consciousness. Like what you recall from childhood, there is continuity of consciousness after death. Chanting helps guide the Alaya consciousness, which carries karma into future rebirths, potentially toward Amitabha’s Pure Land. I am glad you have found inspiration in these videos. Best wishes Mike. Amitabha. 🙏🏻

So If a woman gets pregnant with triplets..is there 3 extra Alaya consciousnesses inside of her? and wouldn't they all have had to co-ordinate before hand to manifest karma without issue? which means there would be an even greater Alaya manager consciousness?
@livingthedharma7 күн бұрын
Yes, each triplet would have its own separate Alaya (storehouse consciousness), carrying its own karmic imprints from past lives. The fact that these three consciousnesses manifest together in the same womb is the result of interdependent karma, where their past actions align to bring them into this shared situation. In other words, it’s their “Common Karma” plus “Individual Karma” that brings them together. Karma is incredibly intricate, but there’s no larger "Alaya manager consciousness" overseeing it. Instead, all beings are interconnected, and their rebirth is the result of cause and effect. These causes, stemming from past actions, create the conditions for life to arise in specific ways, such as the simultaneous birth of triplets. Think of it as a self-regulating process where the karmic conditions of all beings intersect, creating shared experiences like being born together. Everything unfolds based on the web of interconnected causes and conditions. Hope this answers your question. Amitabha. 🙏

@@livingthedharma Are we sure there isn't just one big Alaya consciousness, that we all share? Also in sutra of complete enlightenment it talks about "when all illusions vanish, that which is not an illusion does not vanish." something like an immutable mind, is THAT the Alaya conciousness?

@@hakuinzenji4123 Very good question. The Sutra of Complete Enlightenment does talk about the realization of the ultimate truth when all illusions disappear. What remains when illusions vanish is often referred to as Buddha-nature, which is the true, immutable reality. This is often described as pure, non-conceptual awareness, beyond all duality and distinctions. However, this "immutable mind" is not the Alaya consciousness. In fact, the Alaya is the deluded mind, the origin of the conditioned realm of samsara, cycle of birth and death, ignorance, and delusion. It needs to be transformed and purified. You can think of the Alaya like the individual bubbles of the ocean and the True Suchness as the ocean itself. When the Alaya is fully purified through practice, it transforms into the Great Perfect Mirror Wisdom, reflecting all phenomena as they truly are without distortion. At this point, it’s the immutable mind, the ultimate, unconditioned reality-the Dharmakaya. When the illusions of self, duality, and attachment to phenomena vanish, what remains is the unconditioned, the True Suchness. This is the realm of emptiness, the realization of the ultimate, immutable truth of existence. It’s very good you made the connection between the Alaya and the Suchness. After all, the waves are never separate from the ocean. Best Wishes, Amitabha. 🙏🏻🥰🌈
