Is it weird that the card i'm actually the most excited for is Ajani's pridemate? I played with it a lot in what must be like a decade ago at this point. Annoying enough to the point that it eats removal without feeling too bad about losing it.

@@MainTopmastStaysail In cases where it sticks i prefer having the extra health. there's nothing wrong with essence channeler i'm just not a fan of bats. It's more likely to survive a turn and if it gets a counter it's put out of cut down range so it'd force the use of better removal in those match ups. It's a better body for sheltered etc. There's a lot of fringe reasons to use different cards despite other cards seeming better on paper.

@yoyoguy1st They are completely different formats. Scam had to be nerfed in modern but it's barely a tier 2 deck in timeless. They may look similar at a glance but they are very different in meta.

IMO this deck should have split up. I’d probably run 2 main and 2 side. Or depending on the meta even 3 and 1. It’s very good in decks like this. It can lead to a lot of complete blow outs for only 3 mana. I’m still not sure why split up doesn’t see a ton more play than it does.

I'm sorry, but I'm with Jim on this. I already tried building lifegain angels and even with the whole deck focused on it, Resplendent still never pays off unless you have a big board and Lyra (in which case you're winning anyway). Without Bishop of Wings and Righteous Valkyrie, Resplendent is just what it has been since the Ixalan reprint - a trap.

I am trying angels with Caverns and secluded courtyard to splash for archangel of wrath, aurelia, and errant and giada. I'm also using steel seraph. With some more natural lifelink in the deck resplendent can proc fairly often.

What kind of angel deck doesn't run archangel of wrath? Can singlehandedly win you the convoke matchup. Also 3 serra paragons are too much and that investigate angel is useless. That doll is way better than frontier seeker. Combined with serra, you can ditch a land and replay it. If you're running serra, then a couple fabled passages are also good. This whole deck is cheaply put together 😐
